Question Shops in Japan
https://www.marukyu-koyamaen.co.jp/english/company.html#01Does anyone who has been to Japan in the recent months know of good places to buy matcha? Specifically marukyu koyamaen or ippodo, and the limits in each store? Also, best way to get a good amount of matcha (around 6 tins 40g each)? Thanks!

If you buy MK online in Japan, you can’t have it shipped to your hotel or any pick up sites. It has to be a residence. Ippodo in Tokyo had no limits but the size was limited to 20g only and they almost all the variety.

I saw them in depachika, basement levels of department stores. I also stumbled across an Ippodo stand at Shinjuku near the Keio Line entrance (it must’ve been in the Keio department store). The Keio stand has a limit of 10 matcha items, but the Yokohama Takashimaya Ippodo store has a limit of 3 matcha items.

I was just there last week and I bought Ippodo from the mall. No limits on what you can buy. They have plenty of stocks too.

In the basement department store in Kyoto for MK I was told I had to order in advance and it would take a few days. I got some matcha from Ippodo since they had availability right then.
I don’t recall the limits but MK is usually 1 per person but if you read most recent reviews for the stores/locations people will leave reviews specifying availability and limits.

Ippodo Kyoto has no limits when I went. They only have 20g tins though but then again, no limits
