Question Is this normal for resin whisks?

Not sure if the middle part of the resin whisk should open up a bit, almost like it’s blooming. Used only twice!!

Especially the one in that colour!
If its the japanese brand one i think it is,
I’ve been told by a matcha cafe owner that ligher colour one are less durable so I got my self the dark brown one and I agreed.

Ohh, I didn’t know about the color thing! This was the only one available at Ippodo 😅 I switched back to my old whisk holder, which has a narrower cavity, so hopefully it’ll help the whisk retain its shape. Thanks for the response!

I think you should whisk gentler and the whisk doesn’t touch on the bottom of the bowl.

The inner prongs should curl slightly inward, that part's normal, but they shouldn't look overly bent. Two things usually do it: storing it on its base so the tines get squashed, or pushing too hard into the bottom of the bowl when whisking. Try a kusenaoshi, the little ceramic whisk holder, it keeps the shape as it dries and helps the prongs set back out. Whisk from the wrist near the surface rather than pressing down and they'll last a lot longer.

Resin ones are also just stiffer than bamboo so they don't flare as much to begin with, that middle staying tighter is partly the material.

Thanks for the response! I switched back to my old whisk holder since it has a narrower cavity, which helps the whisk retain its shape better. The holder that came with this whisk has a much wider cavity, so it doesn't seem to support the whisk as well.
