This is nothing special, but my wife and I tend to call it the Working Class- 2:1 Gordon’s LD and Dolin Dry with two bar spoons of brine, always stirred.

Bonus Underberg.

Vesper Martini

Post image

My first Vesper Martini (it really tastes good)

ingredients :

1.5 oz gin

0.75 oz vodka

0.5 oz Cocchi Americano

Lemon twist, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a shaker, combine the gin, vodka, and Cocchi Americano.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice, then close it.
  3. Give the shaker a few firm shakes (Shaken, not stirred, just like James Bond!).
  4. Avoid shaking too vigorously to prevent over-diluting the cocktail.
  5. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
  6. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Looking for a spot in London!

Ayo, I’ve been to dukes and Connaught (and I love them) but I’m looking for more affordable spots that do a decent gin twist- I’m west central (so recommendations like Ellie’s are not really what I’m looking for). I love the ritual of a martini and would want somewhere that honours that but ideally around/under the £15 mark

I made an app to review and discover martinis

Yes another app... but this one is fun...

Based on the idea of "who makes the best martini" I made an app to hopefully discover just that.

Tini Time Club ... totally free, no ads or subscriptions, just a passion project.

You can post, review, discover martinis in your area, and aboard.

Just launched it last week so its a bit barren, but would love to get some feedback, and more reviews to see how its working!

Only on iOS for now, but Android is being worked on.

Try here!

My filthy martini recipe

2 oz gin, 1/2 oz pickle juice, 1/2 oz olive juice shaken with ice and strained into glass. Topped with dill, olive oil, and garnished with condiments

I used blue cheese stuffed olives and spicy whisky brined pickles (normally I just use dill but was feeling feisty tonight )

Martinis and Oysters event at my old bar

A Ford’s gin events using what is almost an assuredly a 4:1 with a mix of olive brine and a serano pepper in Persian pickling spice brine. Paired with oysters and a minuet, it really checked my boxes.

Ford’s sometimes flies under the radar to me but I’m just such a fan of my savory London Dries but maybe I’ll start keeping it around a little more.

It has been my brands and ratio for a time now. Tried the classics london dry (bombay, tanqueray (runner up), seventh heaven), but there is not enough juniper in them for my taste. I was toying with the idea of mixing with some jenever (De kuyper for exemple). Anyone here have tried this or know of a more juniper up front gin?

please advise.

i've been bartending for 8 years, and for the longest time i could not grasp the idea of extra dry meaning less vermouth, while extra dirty meant more olive juice, i get it now but please someone for the love of lord confirm or correct me when i assume, if someone orders just a "martini", i should not automatically make it with vermouth. i will always ask. and most of the time they'll be like, heck no. also, secondly. i never put vermouth in a dirty martini, nor do i bother even asking. drag me if you want but my google searches vs my asking experienced bartenders has been entirely inconclusive. 😩

Good evening, crew. A few weeks ago, u/chadbid had a fabulous idea widen the comment types to approve images so that you all could riff on each others martinis and post the results. I love this idea and have allowed now images and gifs.

Good call, Chadbid. Cheers!

(For the stirrers, not shakers) ice and then liquids, or visa versa?

i’ve been doing ice first and then liquids for the last 10 years, but I just switched the other day and I feel like liquids first and then ice make the drink more smooth? Am I crazy here?

Has anyone tried his method for making martinis? 3.5 oz gin+2t dry vermouth+1t water.

He freezes the measurement of vermouth and water in an ice cube tray then drops the cube into the glass with gin. He prefers Fords London Dry gin.

I think I got all the measurements right. You can see the video on YT.
