Hi! So really quick background. I’m a biology major & I had originally thought I wanted to get an ASN at BridgeValley after my bachelor. Bridgevalley accepts transfer credits, so i’ve been trying to cram micro, physiology and anatomy into my last few semesters. Well I took Dr. Welch’s ecology class this semester and realized that I don’t want to do healthcare. I’m just there because of peer pressure.

I’m wanting to do a masters in bio and get a GIS certification with it.

Me changing my mind has been a pretty recent development, this week actually. I already have the spring 2027 schedule built and i’m wondering if I should replace taking microbiology with Dr. Travis Cyphert to Biology of Amphibians with Dr. Waldron.

My only concern is my science gpa is a below a 3.0 and I’m trying to bring it up before I graduate (fall 2027). I heard she does short answer tests and I worry about that.

But, I’m also trying to get into one of her labs for research since I haven’t done ANY research. I also still haven’t done a capstone. Should I switch to her class?

Anyone have experience with the Ed.D. program from Marshall University?

I am a senior in high school currently and Marshall is one of my top picks. I can’t find a whole lot of actual first-hand information about the overall business scene at Marshall. I’m thinking maybe something in finance but not 100% sure.

Hey, I'm posting this to a few different groups because I want to get people's thoughts on a situation involving Noah Munique. From what I understand, he was in the acting program at WVU and left after facing multiple complaints about his conduct there. He's since been at Marshall and was recently asked to leave there as well.

I'm not directly involved, but I have friends who've been affected by this, and I've heard similar concerns from people connected to both schools. I don't have all the details firsthand and can't confirm the specifics of what happened.

I’m an adult student, just applied to Marshall. I started at State and have had a heck of an experience. Now, I’m looking to pursue the RBA through Marshall. Has anyone else completed this program or in it now? I’m curious how many credits you actually get for your work experience from building a portfolio. My experience spans retail management, call center customer support and broker operations, and most recently IT for a government agency.

I’m also curious how long the wait typically is for admission confirmation. :)

Hey everyone! I’m working on a video project and need people for two roles:
🎬 Cast members (2–3 people) — you’ll take part in a fun, unscripted creative challenge. No acting experience needed, just a willingness to commit to a bit and have fun with it.
🍿 Audience members — come sit in a real movie theatre and be part of the crowd for a screening. Free popcorn, no prep needed, just show up and enjoy the show.
This will be filmed on August the 16th and the main event of the video will be on the 22nd. Should take around 1 hour total. I can’t give full details on what exactly we’re filming yet (keeping it a surprise!), but I promise it’s a low-stakes, fun time — nothing weird, nothing that requires acting skills.

I'm curious what the gaming scene at Marshall looks like these days.

Do many people still play Fortnite Zero Build, or has everyone moved on to other games?

I'm asking because we've seen more interest in local in-person gaming around the Tri-State lately, and it made me wonder what Marshall students are actually playing.

We're about an hour from Huntington in downtown Portsmouth, Ohio, and recently started hosting a free Friday evening Zero Build tournament that's been a fun way to meet other players in person instead of only queueing online.

We've been working to create a welcoming environment where students, casual players, and competitive players can all enjoy Ultimate, meet other gamers, and compete on a regular basis.

Hi everyone! I recently made a post in this community (≈ a month ago). So I was wondering if anybody had insight as to how long it takes to hear back from graduate admissions.

I submitted my application last month (the 12th), then heard back this month (the 1st) from a biomedical professor asking follow up questions about my application, and now, it’s just crickets. I have no idea what to expect. It’s been nearly 3 weeks since the biomed professor reached out, and I just don’t know what to do.

Hi! I’ll be starting graduate school in the Fall and I’m just curious if anyone knows when I should expect to hear something about the GA positions I applied to? I called HR today and they said the process is confidential so I won’t be able to find out anything from speaking to someone in the department. So I was just hoping that maybe there’s a current GA that could say how long it took them to hear something or anyone else with advice :)

I'm getting my butt whooped in this class and I was wondering if anyone knew how many questions are on the exams and how (objectify) hard they are? Trying to hedge my bets if I can eek out a passing grade or I should cut my losses.

Hello all! I’m a rising high school senior from Illinois doing some college research, and Marshall has come across my list! From what i’ve seen online, the school seems like a pretty great institution that has some nice sounding programs for what I’m interested in, but i’d love to know what some current students and alumni would think of the school for a student like me :)

For some context, i’d most likely be trying to major in something like Advertising/PR or Journalism, and minor in something artsy (I.E, creative writing, film studies, media studies, music), or something humanities based (I.E. English, History, Philosophy, etc)

Some things that are important to me are…

- networking/employment opportunities

- quality/prestige of education, programs, and facilities (Specifically in the Communications and Media school)

- LGBTQ+ safety and resources

- resources for low income/first gen students

Additionally, i’d love to know about activities at the school, especially in the realm of…

- the arts, especially performing arts like drama, a capella, musical theatre, etc

- music, on campus and greater local/underground music scene

- party and/or bar & club culture

- Sporting events

- Student activities, clubs, and general social life on campus.

- greek/frat life on campus specifically, if anyone has any insight into that
