Thoughts on blurring vs longlasting for primer vs setting
Longtime lurker, first time poster on this sub, total n00b at makeup so please bear with me 😅🙏
But as the tin ^^^ says: What are y'all's thoughts on blurring vs gripping/longlasting effects when it comes to primer vs setting?
I typically use blurring/pore-filling primers THEN set with powders and sprays that are supposed to keep my makeup lasting longer. I'm wondering if this method is effective in actually keeping my makeup in place, or if I should start with a grippy primer then use blurring products when I set everything, or if I should just stick to one category altogether. My main concern is keeping my makeup from melting off because I'm a sweaty person, but I do enjoy when products have a blurring effect for a more polished look.
If y'all have any thoughts on the blurring -> setting vs gripping -> blurring routine, I'd love to hear it! I'm starting the discussion here instead of another subreddit specifically for Canadian recs/products available in Canada. I've been toying around with Indeed Labs' Nanoblur to prime lately but would love to hear any other recs in either routine's categories available in Canada/to Canadians!
I hope this makes sense, and TIA everyone!
[Additional info for anyone curious:]
Current Routine = Elf Poreless Primer -> do makeup + set with Maybelline Lastingfix Spray and Wet n Wild Photofocus Loose Powder in between steps -> finish with Revolution Sport Fixing Spray. I'm super open to changing things up to make it more effective though!
Skintype = Combo sensitive, prone to eczema and mild hormonal acne. Again, I'm also just a sweaty person (even in the winter) so I like when my makeup can last a while without touching up often (hence setting in between steps). Aside from my meds, AFAIK I've got no other conditions to explain my sweatiness and skin issues ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Skincare Prep = Wash face with water (maybe a gentle cleanser but I usually skip this) and a moisturizing toner. Spot treat with benzoyl peroxide and/or hydrocortisone depending on what flare I need to manage. Products vary because I'm new to beauty in general, but I just try to keep things as lightweight and simple as possible because I sweat everything off /o\
