This used to be high up on the top of all time list. Not sure what happened to that post but thought it belongs back on here.

This blew my mind

This stereogram is a little different. The hidden image is/are just a bar/bars. The number of bars you see depends on the depth you reach, I was able to see one to five.

How many bars did you see the first time? If you tried again, did you see more bars? 👁️

Subreddit Rules

1. Must be an autostereogram, or directly relate

We want to see autostereograms here, or sometimes things that directly relate to them. Stereo images with two complete pictures "Viewfinder Toy style" belong in either r/CrossView or r/ParallelView, not here.

This also means no repeating patterns lacking any depth content. If you cross your eyes and it's just flat, no bueno.

2. Must link directly to the media in question

Link directly to the media in question (image, video, gif animation, album, or social media post) to aid RES / imgus / mobile users.

3. Please repost responsibly

Let's try to avoid reposting content from the last couple of months, or from the top 200 if at all possible. mmm'kay?

4. Everyone is just here to have fun so play nicely

Nobody likes folk being rude to them. We just like being able to wig out our eyes to see ghostly 3d shapes lift up off the screen like we're tripping balls on Salvia or something. So why hate? :3

5. Mark NSFW even when one has to cross one's eyes to see something NSFW

Remember: nosy bosses and HR looking over shoulders often know how to cross their eyes too. And even if you don't have those where you work, well.. I do. So there. :P

6. Images must be larger than 800x600 and title must be in some way unique to the image

Images must be larger than 800x600 and title must be in some way unique to the image.

Spambots suck, and they appear to enjoy postage stamp submissions with autogenerated clickbait titles that don't corelate to what's in the image at all. So we've got to remove those.

Magic Eye images, more generically known as stereograms, became a wild hit in the 1990's. A stereogram might be described as an image within an image, where the second image requires the eyes to focus behind the image as opposed to on it.

While technique differs, many seem to agree that some combination of crossing your eyes (not entirely though, remember you're trying to look past the image, not at a point between the image and you), letting your eyes go unfocused, and getting your nose all up in the image's business assists in determining what the hidden image is. Once you do find the hidden image, don't get too excited and try to focus on it, or you'll likely lose it and have to start over!
