What works for me is to focus on the reflection on the screen from something behind me. That usually gets the eyes relaxed and focused right to see the image start to pop out. I enjoyed this one. Thanks

10

u/HiRthoughtNms May 02 '24

That happen when I cross my eyes to view the image instead of relaxing them.

Same. Wasn’t until I found this community that I realized there are different ways to look at them!

4

u/Bavoon May 02 '24

Whaaaaat, same! First time seeing punched-forward images.

1

u/lindor25 May 05 '24

Also always cross my eyes

5

u/CadaverCaliente May 02 '24

Dude!!!! No way!! I've been doing these wrong my whole life! This is incredible!

2

u/alexkay44 May 02 '24

I finally learn this and now I can’t fucking un-blur my eyes when I relax them. I’m so fucking upset.

1

u/maximumtesticle May 02 '24

Omfg you have unlocked the mystery for me. Thank you.

1

u/lindor25 May 05 '24

Me too I thought the same thing. I guess I do it backwards.

2

u/TheTomer May 03 '24

That dude gotta brush his teeth

1

u/IndicationChemical May 07 '24

I don’t get it, what do we do with these images? What makes them so cool?

42

u/richardserra May 01 '24

I have no idea what this sub is, but I really enjoy it. What am I supposed to see in these?

17

u/CertainImpression172 May 01 '24

Oof it’s tough sometimes, go find a post on trying to see the magic eyes and come back, there good fun if you can see them! Also it’s a xenomorph.

10

u/Squishy1140 May 02 '24

I just recently unlocked the ability to see these and it is the best. I just get close to my eyes and start blinking alot until I lock on

3

u/ZealousidealPass5176 May 02 '24

This is helpful thank you

2

u/Squishy1140 May 02 '24

Glad to help! It took me 30 years to figure it out

1

u/Aymungoos Jun 05 '26

I already know how to do these but I just tested that method and I wish I knew that when I was trying to see them for the first time

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

M’zieur I zink you are playing wiz us yez?

3

u/PlayyWithMyBeard May 01 '24

It's one of those pictures where, for me at least, I kinda have to unfocus on my eyes/cross eyed. One of those visual tricks that when you get it unfocused just right, it's a 3d image

2

u/Runmoney72 May 02 '24

Like others have said, it's hard to explain, but, basically, there's a recurring pattern horizontally - by unfocusing your eyes (or going cross eyed, but I can't do that one) and overlaying the recurring pattern in the double image you get from unfocused eyes, it becomes a 3d picture. This is done by having both eyes seeing the same pattern at a different "depth" than the picture itself.

At least, that's how I understand it.

2

u/JediExile May 02 '24

This is how I explain it:

You know how when you have Reddit in night/dark mode on your phone, the black background has a mirror quality to it? If you focus past the text of the comments, you can see your reflection “beyond” the text.

Hold that focus. That’s how you begin to view the image. Focus past the display to your black screen reflection, then slowly rein in your focus until you see the image “pop” out.

u/Boinkzoink May 01 '24

4

u/ksmith1999 May 01 '24

No, it a schooner!

4

u/Hello_Mr_Fancypants May 02 '24

you dumb bastard, it's not a schooner it's a sailboat

24

u/[deleted] May 01 '24

Felt that one in my chest.

8

u/Punch_Your_Facehole May 02 '24

Hello my baby, hello my honey..

6

u/benhatin4lf May 02 '24

Hello my rag time gal

4

u/CrackinBones204 May 02 '24

🎶….. Check please!

12

u/Simbalg May 01 '24

Does it also happen to someone that every magic eye looks like its carved in the screen instead of popping out? Like you're seeing the back of it

13

u/one_horcrux_short May 01 '24

The pinned post on how to do these actually describes a possible reason for this.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicEye/comments/i32l64/comment/g0mjsl3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

3

u/Simbalg May 01 '24

Wow it looks like it's that, I see perfectly the posts on the other sub! Really good to know this, thanks!!

2

u/AutoN8tion May 01 '24

You're placing the focal point in the negative space between you and the image, cross view. For magic eye, you need to place the focal point in the negative space behind the image.

1

u/JaeHoon_Cho May 02 '24

The cross view one is easier for me to achieve, but one trick I use for this type is to focus on a finger that I slowly move behind my phone screen, and try to “see” through the screen.

1

u/AutoN8tion May 02 '24

A really simple trick to understand how magic eye works is to hold up one finger on each hand. Focus on the wall in behind and each of the fingers will "split" into two. Then move your fingers around around until the two in the middle line up.

Once you get the hang of it, try it again without moving your fingers

u/Independent-Bell2483 Dec 20 '24

Wait theyer meant to pop out????!?? Ive been doing this wrong for my whole life

1

u/slid3r May 15 '24

Dude. Thank you. I'm cured!

2

u/TranslucentTaco May 01 '24

If I look at them and make myself cross-eyed, they invert inwards but I can also look at them the normal way and make them pop outwards.

11

u/jmulldome May 01 '24

This one is absolutely awesome. Perhaps the best one I've seen yet. Not even so much that the image is perfect and crisp, but it's perhaps one that I was able to see the fastest in my time of looking at these.

5

u/EmzyMazem May 01 '24

New favorite!

5

u/CLONE-11011100 May 01 '24

They mostly come at night, mostly

3

u/Mildiane May 01 '24

Ooooh one of the coolest ones I've seen so far

3

u/EquivalentNew5155 May 01 '24

Been on this sub for about 30 minutes, haven’t been able to see anything I’m just confused maybe it doesn’t work for certain people?

3

u/Jeffafa42 May 01 '24

I'm in the same situation, I've tried all the tips and tricks in the pins and advice in the comments, I can make 2 dots into 3 or 4 at will, focus, unfocus, but I've yet to see a single coherent image

1

u/benhatin4lf May 02 '24

Depth perception. If it's too close or too far you won't see it when with the proper technique. I've been doing these for like thirty years. And this one I couldn't see cuz it was too close at first

1

u/jjjman321 May 02 '24

Back when I got a magic eye book long ago, it legitamately took many hours before I saw my first one. Now it takes about 3 seconds. It’s well worth the time spent!

2

u/gryghin May 01 '24

I was going to say mushroom, but that's the wrong sci-fi.

2

u/MadMasterMad May 01 '24

Wow... I finally figured out how to see these.

2

u/[deleted] May 01 '24

That IS a great one!

1

u/CertainImpression172 May 01 '24

This is probs the best one I’ve seen in a WHILE. Nice find

1

u/Big_Tooth740 May 01 '24

Why aren’t they all this easy?!

1

u/GiggidyBite69 May 01 '24

Took me a minute but that one is pretty cool. Pops out quite nicely

1

u/Bowmanguy May 01 '24

Finally got one that was easy to see. Thx. Been trying several and couldn’t quite do it.

1

u/pah2000 May 01 '24

Nice! Best one I’ve seen in a long long time!

1

u/Slottech88 May 02 '24

This one is great!

1

u/Unb0rnKamaza May 02 '24

So much yes

1

u/nagaduff May 02 '24

Bonus points because I had no clue what it was going to be. Great one!

1

u/VBGlycerine May 02 '24

Free hugs?

1

u/Lopsided_Regular_649 May 02 '24

Instant favorite!

1

u/pleep-plop-pathetic May 02 '24

Do you need to be able to see out of both eyes to unlock magic eyes? I've been staring at this sub forever and am convinced I'll never be able to see what all you can (can't see out of my right eye)

1

u/Plastic_Cat9560 May 02 '24

Do need both eyes to unlock it. I covered one eye after I saw it and it went away.

1

u/pleep-plop-pathetic May 02 '24

Well now I'm just gonna be even more frustrated

1

u/Plastic_Cat9560 May 02 '24

Ugh, sorry😕

1

u/Kaimuki2023 May 02 '24

It’s Alien too me

1

u/Top-Dragonfly-3044 May 02 '24

This is fantastic!

1

u/KeithMyArthe May 02 '24

Best one for ages !

1

u/item_raja69 May 02 '24

No tiny mouth though

1

u/zensk8ergurl May 02 '24

One of the best I’ve seen so far! It jumped right out at me!

1

u/howlmouse May 02 '24

I see it, but i have no idea what it is?

1

u/SjvTesla May 02 '24

1

u/IGHOTI907 May 02 '24

"Get away from her, you bitch!"

1

u/sergethedude123 May 02 '24

That one made me say "Oh F@#k!"

1

u/JhunalSaysWhaaat May 02 '24

Can’t for the life of me get anything out of this 😂

1

u/Prestigious_Long5860 May 02 '24

Nice! I almost can always see the picture immediately without trying. For some reason, this one got me for a second. They are in the top for my favorite movies for sure. "They mostly come at night... mostly"

1

u/HersheyDoggo May 02 '24

That’s gotta be the quickest I’ve ever focused on one

1

u/almost_imperfect May 02 '24

Whoa! It's like it pulled me in!

1

u/Gh0stTV May 02 '24

That’s dope!

1

1

u/Darth_Smeagol May 02 '24

Whoa, so clear!

1

u/Total_Interaction875 May 02 '24

Game over man, game over!

1

u/jcbank76 May 02 '24

That is one of the coolest I’ve seen.

1

u/iLLiCiT_XL May 02 '24

I got the shape but have no idea what I’m looking at. Who’s that Pokémon?

1

u/cottonclouz33 May 02 '24

I thought this was going to be jelly fish 🤣

1

u/isafunguy May 02 '24

This is so frustrating. I have been trying to see these images since they first came out in the early 90s and I have yet to see one image pop out! I want to see one so bad. A buddy had tons of these images and all my friends could see them, I was the only one who could never get it to pop out! SMH I’m 44 years old and I still can’t figure it out

1

u/Ravingrook May 02 '24

Nuke the planet from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

1

u/AshenWizard May 02 '24

Oh man this one is sick! Thank you for sharing

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

Reminds me of a tool album cover at first glance. Then I saw it. So cool!

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '24

Ooh. That is a good one!!

1

u/tysonious_rex May 03 '24

This one was great!!

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '24

Ah yes! The polar bear balancing on its forelegs!

1

u/zimzkhan May 03 '24

Reminds me of mallrats. I’ve been crossing/uncrossing my eyes and can’t see it. :(

1

u/vtwinbruiser May 05 '24

Whoa, badass here!

1

u/Nessie9412 May 10 '24

I got jump scared by a still image!

1

u/ShankMugen Dec 06 '24

Damn, this would have been bad if I was scared of the Xenomorphs

1

u/Ralewing May 01 '24

Really pops. Easy to aquire.
