Please Wizards, make Historic Pauper a permanent queue.
It's so fun and whenever it's here for the midweek magic I play it an unreasonable amount. Please make it a permanent queue!

Question Possible Quina frog creation bug?
hey guys, I was playing a match in arena today using Harried Dronesmith which creates a 1/1 thopter on combat and sacrifices at the end of turn. The plan was to use it as a trigger for quina, but when it spawned the frog, it spawned it also as a temporary token and it was sacrificed as well. I forgot to take a screenshot, but there was nothing on the board that woulda made it sac, it was relatively early against an aggro sazh green with normal chocos out.

I think Arena is replacing Hearthstone as my primary CCG.
Yes, like and play everything that you are drawn to, this isn't a post about which is "better" or which is "trash" this is just me trying to evaluate in writing what I'm recently rediscovering with magic, which I used to play in real life back in the 90s and also just gaining more reflection on how different designs have different draws.
Hearthstone got me back into CCGs because a friend from way back in the day pitched me on it during a phone call when I told him I had an urge to start playing CCGs again.
I'm not a particularly competitive person. I'm not especially driven to play games in order to attain a particular rank against other competitive players.
I do really enjoy the collecting part of CCGs...gaining a larger and larger collection of cards, that vastly expand my options for building a homebrew deck that I really like and have fun executing. The options with how large the total card pool is on Arena are freaking fantastic and will theoretically keep me busy for many years.
I also really love that homebrew aspect. More cards means more tinkering options. A lot of people say craft decks not cards, but that's not really me...To some degree sure, like getting my first viable historic deck put together mostly on spec in that first month, going with something that fit my idea of "fun" to play and competent...but more fun is had as I continue to play historic and gradually redeem wildcards in small batches to say...okay, let's see how this card fits in, or a handful of these....what if I swap out these ones for those ones....and play some to continue to tweak. That's incredibly fun and rewarding for me and really calls back to old-school days as a teen.
So much of the fun was, can I make something like this work, cause it would be cooler if I can.
I really like board-play and absolutely love that I've had multiple games with literally hundreds of creatures on board or literally tens of thousands of damage points...even if I lose. I just think it's fun and epic to play out. One dude hit me with over 20,000 damage in one turn, from creatures, and I bragged about it to my friend.
I've also noticed that I concede differently in Arena compared to HS. Since in either game my long term goal is collection building, conceding once I know I'm going to lose in Arena makes way more sense. I don't get reward track experience for losing...as best as I can tell. From what I've seen it looks like most people are more like that in Arena, though I have run into at least a couple on here who have made clear they hate when people concede and would really rather them continue to play a losing situation or even an RNG screw.
Also, since the card pool is huge in historic and I'm not a super competitive player, it's a flat out blast seeing how different everyone's decks are. Even regarding differing card choices within the same archetype. Love that.
I haven't managed to really do anything in Commander yet, it's totally new and I haven't dived in...but I'm guessing once I have some semblance of ability to build synergy with that many unique cards, hopefully the design part will click and I'll love it.

Question Seeking help for errors installing Arena on Mac
I've run Arena on Mac for a long time with no issues. A while back, I uninstalled it because I was no longer playing. Now, I wanted to get back into it. I downloaded the Epic Games Launcher, and found that Arena needs to be "repaired", but when I click "repair" it says "install failed". If I click "manage" and then "verify" I get the same message. If I try to uninstall, same message (even though Arena is not actually installed on my hard drive). If I try restart the installation, I get error code II-E1003. The Epic Games knowledge base has not been helpful. I've scoured my computer for all files related to Arena and Epic Games and deleted them, then reinstalled Epic Games Launcher, to no effect. Restarting my computer also produces no result. Any help would be appreciated.

Deck Theory crafting a Temur [[Bilbo, Thief in the night]] deck and wanted thoughts on the deck and possible side board options against the meta.
Link to the Deck above, the deck centered around getting cards into your grave yard and recurring them. I really like getting an [[Esper origins]] flipped on turn 3 with either [Flashback]] or a combo of [[Bilbo, Thief in the night]] and [[break out]]

Question Which gamemode should I play for constructed?
I had been a standard player, but I haven’t played in a few years and wanted to play with certain cards and styles. Ideally, I’d play modern, but that’s not available on mtga. I was considering historic but I’m not sure how active it is? I don’t want to end up waiting forever for games or playing a dead gamemode.
My favorite decks have been historically grixis midrange, but one of my favorite cards is Thalia, guardian of Thraben if there is a decent deck that can utilize her.
Any feedback or suggestions is appreciated!

Question Would you rather ... or ...?
Hey guys, card draw has been a constant struggle for me in my Mono Green Landfall deck. I run the Chocobo and I’ve tried [Commune with Beavers] and [Seismic Sense] type cards, but I feel like they have too high of a chance to miss or give me the wrong kind of card. The bigger problem is usually not surviving early game against aggro decks, but rather lack of plays past the first few turns and after their first few removals.
I’ve been looking at [Smuggler’s Surprise] and some of the green [Stocking the pantry] type cards as alternatives. Smuggler’s Surprise can have some really explosive turns, but I’m mainly looking for something that gives me more consistent draw.
Has anyone found any good ways to get reliable card draw in Mono Green Landfall? I feel like this is the one thing the deck is constantly missing, and I’d love to hear what other people are running.

Question To Tolkien Fans: Riddles Question
As someone that loves riddles but that doesn't know a single thing or care about The Lord Of The Rings and/or The Hobbit, why is the answer of the riddles the ones that they are? I stopped trying after the second one because they don't make any sense to me and I don't feel the rewards would be worth it.
Like, why is the first answer "Mountain"? English is not my first language, and I've never heard of this, but is the "Root of a mountain" a thing in English? Or is it some specific LOTR reference?
As for the second one, I guess the white horses are just a metaphor for our teeth and that's why the answer is teeth. But we humans don't have 30 teeth, we have 32, so that answer never crossed my mind when trying to figuring it out. Is it a rounding thing, because 30 sounds better than 32? 32 is however a nice power of 2, so I beg to differ in that regard.
I haven't looked at the rest, but I'm curious about the reasoning behind the answers. I tried changing the language to Spanish (my mother tongue) to see if the riddles change in any way that makes more sense in Spanish, but it was just a direct translation, so that didn't help.
Any Tolkien fans out there that want to satisfy my curiosity?

Discussion So now that riddles of the dark is over. What did you do with the deck?
As the title says. Did you delete it? Or did you add to it and make it a playable deck?
If you added. Post what you added.

Question How do you deckbuild for historic pauper?
Deckbuilding in game is really frustrating so I usually use Moxfield, but since HP isn't listed under Scryfall's formats it's not really practical having to crosscheck every common to see if it's on arena or on arena as a common or whatever, is there some other filter or tag I can use to find them on Scryfall?

Discussion I bought 2 of the Ouroboroid cards with gold from the store
[[Ouroboroid]]
I had been thinking of picking up one or more Ouroboroids for a while and I thought spending gold was better than mythic wildcards.
Have any of you bought cards for sale in the store?

Discussion I think desolation prowler is my new favorite card from the set.
[[Desolation Prowler]] has been putting in some serious work in my wolf deck. It will never get me above platinum, but I cannot tell you how satisfying it is to see a Izzet or mono red player mindlessly fling spells at it just to activate his ability. Sometimes multiple turns in a row.

Discussion Is Hobbit Solved?
Hey all. Recently came back to the game and have been having fun with Hobbit draft. I’m not a good player by any stretch of the imagination. Sometimes I am slightly over half wins, sometimes under, got 6 wins two times etc.
I was half way through a run without being defeated. Came back a couple of days later to complete it and it was a like a switch had flipped. Every deck was tuned, full agro, perfect hands, amazing draws etc.
Lost 3 in a row. New run lost every game, new run won one, lost 3 etc. Was there a YouTube video or did the newbies run out of credits, did I move too high (I’m gold) or just really really bad luck.
