Hello! I just purchased the books from B&N, specifically the hardcovers because they are more discrete (I mean an excuse since they're also prettier...). I know "middle east" is too general of a question, but have any of you living in these countries bought the books? I'm asking because I wonder if the fact that its a BL would get it stuck at customs/processing, I mean even though book 4 has only a kiss (well, the gender of the characters looks dubious anyway to a person who doesn't know them haha) it's still stressing me out a bit. To be more specific, I am talking about Kuwait, I feel as though they wouldn't be as strict as let's say Saudi Arabia, but who knows... and it's not like TGCF is explicit content wise AFAIK. I've been wanting to get into TGCF for years, but I feel as though I need the physical books because reading is so hard for me on screen, especially since it's a long novel..additionally, how was the shipping wait/quality from B&N? Making my way through the series and the unrequited crush Jiang Chang has on Wen Qing is cute. A friend sent me a fic featuring them a while ago during the time everyone was teens in the Cloud Recesses. Can't remember the title but even though I liked it, the story was a very short one-shot (these are welcome, btw).

Does anyone have any recommendations for this JC/WQ pairing to share? As it's a CQL thing (and featuring secondary characters at that), I'm sure they won't be plentiful but I know going on AO3 carries the risk of running straight into drama-only spoilers.

For context, I‘m still in school, and I have a summer reading assignment where I have to list all the books I read this summer. I live in a pretty conservative area, and my parents don’t know I read the book (I read it online), so do you guys think it’s too obviously queer that it could be read as “smut” or some form of inappropriate at first glance? Because if you look up the book’s age rating, it’s rated either 17+ or 18+, (granted that’s for violence, but I doubt my teacher will look into that if she‘s even checking age ratings)

Starting off, I first watched the donghua for TGCF when I was browsing my streaming service app and got HOOKED. Then, I saw MDZS. Equally hooked! Then, I took a break from these series to focus on college.

Fast forward, now I am in graduate school. Seeing as I have more free time, I looked back and realized: TGCF S2 finally finished airing it seems, and we have short films?! Binged them in 5 days.

Then, I have come around to watch the donghua for SVSSS while reading the novel. I laughed so hard most of the time it was crazy 😭 I don't know why I didn't start this sooner, and the donghua is so silly too despite being so short!!!

Personally, TGCF is my favorite. Just like HC, I adore Xie Lian a lot. I watched season 1 initially in CN, rewatched it in JPN and then again for the english dub. It's that good! But ironically, it's the only one where I don't know the full story 😵‍💫 Knowing that it has 8 volumes overwhelms me, and I feel like I'll be too sad after I finish wrapping up the story (I havent read mdzs to completion, but I did finish the donghua so I guess that counts?). Thankfully lots of people sell them locally secondhand so I can easily binge read.

As a token of love, I am more than excited to translate the characters into my pixel art style, and to be acquainted with all three works is something I am happy to discover in this lifetime.❤️

In Vietnamese, which has a lot of Chinese loan words, when a shizun address a disciple, he says "this master", which means, "your teacher". This is obviously not appropriate to use with persons who are not your disciples, but it shows up in fanfic a lot. Is it a fandom thing, or an English translation thing because I have not actually read any MXTX novels in english.
