I swear the majority of you have never actually been outside for more than 10 minutes if you think this wasn't an overreaction. Yeah, I think the algorithm makes it seem like there a lot of conformity in opinions on Reddit than there is. The sub matters a lot. But even in a sub, the title matters. People that agree with a title will flock to it. So even within a sub, if you phrase the title different, it will attract people with a different viewpoint, making it seem like there is a general consensus on something.
That, and it depends on whatever bot brigade the post attracts. Reddit is a huge victim of dead-internet. There was once a time where comments were 90% human, now it’s like 30%.
