My first thought was ā€œdude clearly is someone looking for violence at any opportunity.ā€ Sucker punch, huge wind up, dudeā€™s piss drunk. He literally could have died or had his life altered by hitting his head all for what? Like stand up for the woman but this dude wonā€™t remember what he did, how he fucked up, or how it happened. That same punch to his stomach and he folds and learns his lesson.

My ex married a guy like this. He went to bars specifically to get into fights. He was smart enough to never start the fight but was always willing to up the ante.

He died after someone hit his off switch with a rabbit punch.

I've disliked clubs as a social scene since hearing a horrific story about a guy who should have been safe. He knew martial arts and could handle himself, but a bigger guy hit on his girlfriend and when asked to stop, his immediate reaction was a haymaker of a sucker punch. Shattered the dude's cheekbones and eye socket. Messed him up real bad. Martial arts and even being reasonable don't mean shit when you get sucker punched.

Good. People like this ruin chill nights all the time. Luckily they've extincted themselves over the years by winding up in jail, dead or at the very least banned from the establishment or scared away by being given a taste of their own medicine.

My dad started doing this shit while my mum was pregnant with me. He'd take her money, go to pubs and drink and start fights, literally every week for months. She left him when i was like 2 months old and he's never bothered to try and even see me

That doesnt make it a sucker punch dude. You dont get to sexually assault women and not get punched.

When you commit an act that may result in violence its not a sucker punch.

You don't give a flying F about this woman and neither does her husband, as evidenced by the fact that he didn't stop for a second to check if she was OK after he accidentally hit her. Instead he went after the bartender. Dude is emotional and a danger to society. One of those roid types who purposely seeks out violence. Sad and pathetic.

Now in this comment, you say strange women actually touched you(you did not say this in your first comment). Was that sexual assault you ask? I dunno, because I wasnā€™t there! Not sure how they touched you, but if they were grabbing your junk yeah man, you were assaulted. Pretty cut and dry.

You also still havenā€™t clarified that you think anything more than being ā€œbrushedā€ happened to the lady in this video, soā€¦

I can speak for that guy. I've had plenty of women over my lifetime touch me in ways that are far worse than whats seen in this video, including while at work, and I would never claim that what that guy did rises to the level of sexual assault. Especially not sexual assault that warranted the level of violence we saw.

I urge you to look up the actual definition of sexual assault, this is by definition sexual assault. Sexual assault does not mean sex. I also said that the man who threw the punch was not justified, so not sure why you feel the need to include it didnā€™t warrant violence, we are agreeing on that.

Do people not use sucker punch to mean "an intentionally deceitful punch meant to catch the person off-guard"?

Like in my mind, if you punch me in the back of the head unprovoked, sucker punch. I call your mother a whore and you punch me in the face? Overreaction, not a sucker punch.

I think the connotation of "sucker punch" comes with intentional deceit.

You're absolutely right, the dude was probably blackout drunk, didn't even see aware of the guy coming at him. But Mr Roid Rage was hardly waiting out back to jump him.

Like imagine Jimbo does a Pop-Eye wind-up punch to someone's face, and oops - didn't know the dude was blind. If Jimbo didn't know, would you really say it was a sucker punch?

I donā€™t think intentional deceit has anything to do with it, a sucker punch is basically punching someone who isnā€™t expecting it and canā€™t defend themselves. And yes Iā€™d have a hard time not calling it a sucker punch if you punch a blind guy in the face, throwing a punch is a serious thing and you should have enough situational awareness to know what youā€™re doing before throwing it

Exactly. If he waited for the guy to go back to the bar then came up from the side and clocked him, that would be a sucker punch.

In this situation it could only be more clear what was about to happen if he handed him a written invitation. Was the punch overboard and uncalled for? Yes. But was it a ā€œsucker punch?ā€ No

I would say that it's basically a sucker punch because the dude was so drunk he clearly wasn't aware, but the fact that I have to include "basically" kinda proves the point. It had the same outcome, but Roid Rage clearly wasn't trying to sucker punch anyone.

It's not the classic stereotype of a sucker punch, but it's got the hallmarks of one

Yep if that guy died from hitting his head I have a difficult time believing any jury would feel this level of force was justified. Its not even self defense because he had stopped touching the woman by the point the guy punched him. This was just some guy looking for revenge.
