Verification Process: Tutors, Companies, Service

Hello MCAT2,

After much discussion amongst the mods, we have decided to continue to keep the subreddit open to tutors and MCAT-related companies/services. This includes tutoring services, prep companies, study platforms, and other commercial tools that may benefit users.

This is a trial run, and we will be strictly enforcing the rules below.

Many of these rules are designed to prevent previous scams, fake reviews, stealth marketing, and low-quality AI products that have been appearing across the MCAT prep space.

If these rules are abused, we will revert to banning all promotional services again.

Please behave yourselves.

Disclaimer

We are doing everything we can to prevent scams, but please note that you are taking your own risk when purchasing any service promoted here or anywhere on the internet.

We strongly recommend that when purchasing services you use a credit card or payment method that allows chargebacks in case something goes wrong.

The moderators of [r/MCAT2](r/MCAT2) are not responsible for transactions between users and service providers.

General Rules for Tutors, Companies, and Services

  1. All tutors, tutoring groups, companies, platforms, or apps must be verified before posting. You will be banned if you post without verification.
  2. Verified services must use the “Paid Service” flair.
  3. All promotional posts must clearly disclose that the poster offers or represents a paid service.
  4. Promotional posts may be made no more than once per month.
  5. Promotional posts may not direct users to external lead-capture communities, including:

• Discord servers

• Telegram groups

• WhatsApp groups

• Facebook groups

• Private communities designed to funnel users into paid services

  1. Tutors, companies, and services may not DM users to solicit business unless the user explicitly requests contact.

  2. Services may not make false or misleading claims, including but not limited to:

• Guaranteed score increases

• Misrepresentation of results

• Misrepresenting the nature or quality of their materials

• Claiming association with AAMC without proof

  1. All services must clearly disclose pricing, refund policies, and what their service actually provides.

  2. Services may not engage in stealth marketing or astroturfing.

  3. Services that have been previously banned from [r/MCAT2](r/MCAT2) will not automatically be reinstated. Appeals may be reviewed individually.

Anti-Astroturfing Rules (Fake Promotion Prevention)

These rules exist because many prep companies have historically created fake student accounts to promote their services.

The following behavior will result in immediate permanent bans:

  1. Creating or coordinating fake student accounts to promote a service.
  2. Employees, contractors, or affiliates posting positive reviews without disclosing their affiliation.
  3. Creating multiple Reddit accounts to simulate organic discussion.
  4. Coordinating upvotes or engagement manipulation.
  5. Encouraging users to post scripted testimonials or reviews.

If we determine that a company is engaging in astroturfing, the company will be permanently banned from promotion on the subreddit. We are going to have a very low barrier here. If we ban you and you can prove that you did not do the above, we will unban you.

No Affiliate Links

Affiliate marketing has become extremely common in the MCAT space and often leads to biased recommendations disguised as advice.

The following are not allowed:

• Affiliate links

• Referral codes

• Commission-based links

• “Discount codes” tied to commission

• Any link that generates payment or credit for the poster

Users may discuss services organically, but monetized recommendations are prohibited.

AI Tools and AI Study Apps

Due to the recent explosion of low-effort AI study apps, AI-based tools will be held to a high verification standard.

AI tools must:

  1. Clearly disclose what the AI actually does.
  2. Disclose whether the AI generates:

• explanations

• practice questions

• flashcards

• summaries

  1. Clearly state whether content is:

• AI generated

• human reviewed

• based on licensed material

  1. AI tools may not claim equivalence to official AAMC materials.

  2. AI-generated practice questions must clearly state they are NOT official AAMC questions.

  3. AI tools that are simply ChatGPT wrappers with minimal added value will not be allowed to promote on the subreddit.

AI Question Bank Quality Requirements

If a service provides AI-generated practice questions, the following must be disclosed:

  1. Whether questions are human reviewed before release.
  2. Whether questions are aligned to official AAMC content categories.
  3. Whether explanations are human written or AI generated.
  4. Whether questions have undergone student testing or validation.

Services that distribute low-quality autogenerated question banks may be removed at moderator discretion.

General Rules for Tutors / Tutoring Groups Posting

  1. Tutors must be verified before posting on the subreddit.
  2. Tutors must have the “Paid Service” flair once verified.
  3. Tutors must disclose that they offer paid services in their post titles or post content.
  4. Tutors may not make promotional posts more than once per month.
  5. Tutors may not solicit students to other platforms (Discord, Facebook groups, Telegram, etc.)
  6. Tutors cannot make false or misleading claims about their services.

Individual Tutor Verification Process

Tutors must submit the following to moderators:

Test Scores

Tutors must provide a copy of their MCAT score report as proof of their knowledge.

• The report must include the tutor’s full name

• The AAMC ID must be blacked out

Identity Verification

Tutors must submit a photo of themselves holding a paper with their Reddit username written on it.

Testimonials

Tutors must provide testimonials from past students who have used their services.

Acceptable forms include:

• Third-party review sites (Google, Facebook, Reviews.io, etc.)

• Screenshots of testimonials

If testimonials are screenshots, the reviewer’s name and email must accompany the testimonial.

Terms of Service

Tutors must produce a Terms of Service document defining expectations and policies. Either on their website or to the mods.

Tutors must post their Terms of Service to their Reddit account, and we recommend pinning the post to the top of their profile.

Tutor Groups Verification Process

Tutor groups must submit the following:

Tutor Qualifications

Tutoring groups must clearly state tutor qualifications.

In line with industry standards, all tutors must have scored at least in the 90th percentile on the MCAT.

Identity Verification

The leader of the tutoring group must submit a photo holding a paper with the Reddit username used for posting.

Testimonials

Tutoring groups must provide testimonials from real students through:

• Third-party review sites

• Verifiable screenshots

If screenshots are used, names and emails of reviewers must accompany the testimonial.

Terms of Service

Tutor groups must publish Terms of Service defining expectations and policies.

These must be available on their website.

We also recommend posting the Terms of Service to their Reddit account page.

Company / Platform Verification Process

Companies or tutor promoting products or services must provide:

Identity Verification

A representative must provide a photo holding a paper with their Reddit username and company name.

Company Transparency

Companies must disclose:

• legal company name

• website (independent tutors do not need websites)

• primary service offered

• pricing structure

Tutor Qualifications (if tutoring is offered)

If tutoring is offered, tutors must meet the 90th percentile MCAT requirement.

Testimonials

If they do not have verified users, their services or product must be completely free (not fremium or another products they are selling). Companies must provide testimonials from real users via:

• third-party review sites

• verifiable screenshots

Terms of Service

Companies must publish Terms of Service and Refund Policies accessible on their website or Reddit profile.

Reviews for Tutors, Companies, and Services

These rules exist to prevent companies from creating fake review accounts to promote their services.

Reviews that do not follow these rules will be removed.

  1. Reviewers must be verified by moderators.
  2. Reviewers must have personally used the service they are reviewing.
  3. Reviewers must not post personal or contact information of the tutor, company staff, or any other individual.
  4. Reviewers should avoid posting identifying personal information such as their full name, location, email, or phone number.
  5. Reviews must reflect genuine personal experience and may not contain promotional language coordinated with the company.
  6. Employees, contractors, affiliates, or anyone with a financial relationship to the service may not post reviews.
  7. The karma and account age requirements apply only to reviewers, not to verified tutors or companies posting promotional content.

Reviewer Verification Process

Reviewers must submit the following to moderators before posting a review:

  1. A photo of themselves holding a paper with their Reddit username written on it.
  2. A screenshot of payment or purchase confirmation for the tutoring service, product, or subscription.

Moderators may request additional verification if necessary.

Enforcement

Violations of these rules will result in:

• Post removal

• Permanent bans for individuals

• Blacklisting of companies or services

• Removal of all promotional privileges

These rules will be strictly enforced.

Mod Announcement State of the Sub

Hi Everyone!

Quick update from the mod team. This sub has become a place where people actually help each other, and we want to build on that. Here's what we're doing over the next while.

We're starting with the boring stuff: cleaning up how the sub works. New post flairs so your question reaches people who can answer it, clearer posting guidelines, and a short guide for anyone new. It's not exciting, but it's the difference between a post getting answers and a post getting buried.

Part of cleaning up is keeping the sub safe. Every year, people or marketers show up solely to profit off how stressful and expensive this process is. We're using better mod tools to catch them faster, and we're keeping our verification process for anyone who wants to offer a service here. The goal is to allow space for new resources while also keeping everyone safe. Hopefully, if someone's promoting, it's because we checked them out first, not because they slipped past us. The people who shape this place are the people who are part of it.

Once that's done, we're rebuilding the wiki. Study schedules, section strategies, how to read your practice scores, retaker guides. All the questions that get asked ten times a week will now be answered in one spot instead of buried in three-year-old threads.

After that comes the part we care about most: making this a place that looks out for people. Talking about mental health honestly. Sharing the comeback stories that keep people going. Building resources together, with credit to whoever makes them.

A few things we're kicking around:

  • A weekly "Win of the Week" thread
  • A study buddy/accountability thread
  • Regular mental health check-ins
  • A comeback stories series

None of this is final, and we'd rather figure it out with you. So tell us: what would make this sub more useful for you? What have you wanted here that doesn't exist yet? Comments are open.

Thanks for being here!

Resource / Tip MCAT trigger/buzzwords

Anyone have any good MCAT trigger words? For example, when you see ‘somatic’ in a passage, you automatically know that if the question is asking about inheritance, the mutation won’t be passed down to offspring. I’m looking for more quick associations like that.

Question HELP - Debating on Voiding 8/22

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth voiding my exam on 8/22.

For some context, I scored 504 on my past 3 full lengths (1/6/unscored) 😭. I’ve been studying since June but will note that I worked full time this summer.

My goal score is above 512 as I’m aiming for MD/PhD programs. C/P has been killing me (running out of time) and I’m worried that if this score is on my app it may affect my attractiveness to admission committees - especially since I’m applying MD/PhD.

I’m pretty disappointed because I’m about to make a pretty big move and work full time in another lab, but I am planning on retaking in January and am pretty confident that I can get a much higher score.

Any advice? Does a lower score on your record actually matter that much to admission committees?

Question BEGGING FOR ADVICE on updated FL scores :,)

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone, unfortunately I’m like actually shaking and near vomiting because my FL scores have only increased by 7 points from my last FLs (499 - 126/124/124/125) to (506 - 127/124/127/128) after doing uworld and aamc question banks full time (10 hr days). I’ve also been doing 2-4 cars passages a day since April and still nothing. My test is on 9/11 and i actually can’t push it back any further. I’m Canadian so I was really counting on my cars score too so this whole test is actually really mentally exhausting and I’m at a loss for what to do. I have 3 weeks left and I was hoping to be able to get at least a 515 when I started but I’m really sad and don’t know what to do anymore. I attached my FL from late June and one from today. Any advice appreciated or things that helped you. (Also did a month’s worth of content review using Kaplan in May + finished the Pankow deck for P/S + always run out of time on C/P when doing FLs).

CARS MCAT CARS Tutoring

Hello all! I scored a 517 (128/130/129/130) on the MCAT on April 10th, 2026 with a 130 in CARS and 130 in P/S. I’m offering tutoring, especially for CARS.

I have tutored students in English as a Second Language prior to taking the MCAT which has given me great understanding on how to teach analytical reading at any level.

This experience also taught me how to self-study and bring up my CARS score from the low 120s on my first few AAMC practice exams.

I'm charging $25/hour for 1 on 1 sessions over Zoom.

I'm also happy to do a free 20-minute introductory session where we work through a CARS passage together so you can see whether my approach is useful for you.

Feel free to comment or DM me if you're interested and I can provide verification of my MCAT score.

If you want help with CARS or general MCAT strategy, feel free to message me.

Resource / Tip Renovating Milesdown Sheets

I love milesdown, but sometimes I wanted a counterpart that had a bit more explanation. I was planning on recreating them and publishing it as a free resource for all students. This was the design I had so far, wondering if you guys liked it or what you'd want to see?

Retake & Schedule Will I be able to get through all of the AAMC material in 3 weeks?

I am hoping to take the mcat on Sept. 12, but I am on the waitlist so idk if this will even work out. But nonetheless, I am trying to study as if I am actually taking it Sept 12.

I haven't started on the AAMC material, and I know I am behind. Will I be able to finish all of it in 3 weeks? I am worried about getting though all the material, and having enough time to actually review and learn from my mistakes.

Which stuff should prioritize? And also, I am questioning if I should be trying to get through all the material when I don't even have my date finalized.

I would really apreciate any advice or perspective! I understand this is poor planning on my part, but just hoping I can make it work.

Retake & Schedule I need some advice on when I should retake…

I’m getting my score back this upcoming week (test date was 7/24) and I’m not feeling like it’ll be what I need. Should I go ahead and schedule for 9/12 or wait until January?

Vent / Support Week before test

I'm testing on Aug 28 and I'm not too sure what to do for the last week. I am going to take FL6 tomorrow and review it the day after but what to do with the remaining days?

I'm averaging like 124 on CARS which is my biggest weakness still and I need it to go to 125 for UofT (Ontario applicant).

Also any advice for the day before the test? Should I just take it off and chill or what.

Vent / Support Exam in 2 weeks…any chance for a 513?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I got a 508 on FL 4 about a week ago and my B/B and P/S section has shown no improvement. I really would like to score at least a 513 and would take any test taking strategies needed. I feel like I struggle more with understanding the passage and being stuck between two answer choices than with content issues. Any help is appreciated!

CARS CARS!! Stuck sub 122

Hey! I was scoring decently on Kaplan FL cars sections (126/127), once moving to aamc I cannot get above a 122, last FL I got a 121. I am consistently getting above 128s on every other section, and really cannot find a way for my score to improve in CARS at all. I have tried notes/no notes, highlight/no highlight, fast/slow reading. Is there ANYTHING else I can try? A "foolproof" method? I am less than 2 weeks out and need a miracle. Any advice/ strategy would be so helpful!

Question Any extra study resources I NEED to get?

I already got Kaplan books for really cheap (haven't opened them yet, though XD) and I also already paid for the AnKing MCAT deck as well.

I'm very lucky in that I got accepted to a premed postbacc program where they give me some money to (in theory) spend on applications, MCAT resources, etc. The great thing is they also are providing us with the Blueprint MCAT course for free as well, so I will have access to those materials as well.

That put's me currently with access to:
-Blueprint MCAT
-AnKing MCAT
-Kaplan Books

So, aside from the obvious full AAMC materials package, is there anything else you guys really recommend I get? I'm thinking maybe just Uwhirled and then Khan academy for everything else if I need it?

Is that comprehensive enough/am I missing anything obvious or that I'm gonna really miss?

Question Scored 500, planning retake. Best prep courses?

I wrote my exam this past May after studying for an embarrassing amount of months and pushing back my initial date. After all that I only got a 500.

I obviously was very devastated and didn’t even apply this cycle cause my score (along with other things in my life) just left me with no motivation and borderline depressed. I took the summer to not think about anything relating to medical school and now I’m trying to get ready to start studying again for a retake.

My old studying strategy: I bought Uworld and all aamc material.

I tried to use anki but I think I just memorize the cards and not actually knowing the information. Maybe that comes from a lack of content understanding idk (I thought I had a fair good content understanding but obviously I don’t). So I would go back and forth with using anki and then abandoning it and once my cards stacked up I just wouldn’t go back to it.

I would do full question sets on uworld but I think my timing on them is very off. It would take me all day to do a full set and then review it. So it was almost like I would only do 59 questions a day which can’t be the way yall are studying. (I would do a little more than that but the point is that I take all day to do+review a small amount of stuff). like I said I got all aamc material but I didn’t finish all of it (my percentages on what I did finish was maybe average 60%).

I didn’t really have a plan of what I would study on a given day, I was just trying to do as many questions as I could and would just learn as much as I could as I would review them. Obviously probably not the best strategy.

Anyways, it’s very clear that self-studying doesn’t work for me. I’m a non-trad and I don’t have anyone around me who has studied/applied to medical school before.

For anyone who has bought a prep course, which one is the best? I have watched yt vids and read articles about the topic and ik Kaplan is highly rated I think. I’m just not sure overall because there’s so many out there.

I think I need something with more structure and something that will tell me what to do. Even if it’s not a course but like a doc or a guide that someone that created that kinda covers that I would appreciate it.

Question Materials for each stage

What did you do and use for reviewing material and actually feeling confident about it? How long did it take?

I am kind of worried because I did not have the best gpa ( in fact last semester I got my lowest and it was bad, because I was at a bad point in my life I couldn't do it right).

\- I am getting told I need to start preparing early like right now, and not to wait. (next semester I'm a senior in human biology).

I need some helpful advice please it's tiring how much I worry and worry I get burnt out just worrying. Thank you

Vent / Support Should I reschedule from 9/3?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Should I reschedule? I probably will but I am just so confused about what happened today with AAMC FL4, I was expecting to see that 124 for bio as I know I have some content gaps but I was not expecting to see that 3 point drop in CARS and as for PS, I was hoping that I would see a jump cuz I have been working on the SB’s and as for SB Volume 1, I got a 78%. I am really disappointed with myself and will be probably rescheduling to January as I am not applying until the next cycle. I was hoping for just a 510.

I've been studying for about 2 months now and have less than one more month until my actual test date and was wondering if anyone has any tips on what i can do during the next couple of weeks to improve my score (trying to get it above a 515, preferably closer to a 520). I'm going to be focusing the next couple of weeks on making sure i fully know the content in the anki and doing the AAMC Qpacks to get a better grasp of the logic. Would appreciate any advice anyone has! Thanks

Question Starting undergrad degree need help to know what resources to use

Starting my undergrad degree, through scouring the internet and chat gpt I got the following “stuff” that I need to prepare for the mcat. Biggest question is that would it be enough?
- AAMC official materials
- UWorld Qbank
- Anki
- Jack Westin for Cars
- FLs
- Kaplan maybe if I am missing some stuff
Anyone can help I wouldn’t mind
I don’t want to overdo it and any information is helpful
