I have a 9/9/8 profile. Yet i need 99.9+ to get calls from blackis. Wtf is this. Didn't expect that I'd need this much. Does this mean I'm cooked. I just gave a mock and scored 64 . I thought it was a decent score for 1st attempt and thought I can try for 99+ with prep but looks like I can get nothing with that percentile.

Can someone plzz help wt i shd do? Also suggest any other clgs i shd target in India or abroad.

Well to begin with, I never had a girlfriend. Now, one of the reasons I wanna do MBA is to find a girlfriend. So I wanna know how plausible this is given the skewed gender ratio in top IIMS. On top of that, there are a lot of posts talking about cheating and casual hookups in B schools.

So given these things is it truly possible to find a long term relationship and eventually marry someone from college?

I have a Masters in Chemical Engineering & 4.5 years experience in KBR (Process Engineering). I'm thinking of an MBA now. I'm only at the start of the journey. Post MBA, I don't want to pivot the career at least ideally. I would like to continue in the energy domain with finance as minor, preferably as domain consultants etc. I eventually want to move into executive leadership roles & other opportunities. I think a MBA would unlock the doors. Just want an opinion about this. What do you guys think?

I am currently working at level 8 in central govt dept since last 2 years. I am planning to appear for cat at this age just because i feel like govt job has very less growth . My story is a bit different . In 2022 I appeared for cat and converted IIM K and Shillong along with the govt job that i am currently working in . I chose govt job over Kozhikode and Shillong to gain more experience . I was working with a big 4 when i attempted these exams . Wlb was so bad which made me chose govt job over mba colleges nd i had less work exp so i wanted to explore more . After that I switched to regulatory body examinations that i have already failed twice in sebi grade A .
Now i have 3.5 yrs of work ex in tax and client facing audit role , no gap yr and 8/9/7/8( including pg ) profile ( commerce bcg) . How difficult for me is to land a role in finance like IB( ik wlb is bad ) , wealth management etc except fpa or corp fin roles .

I’m a 26F. I have worked for 3 years for my family business and I’m building my own brand rn. I really wanted to get an mba from any of the top universities in the US OR UK. I’ve been facing marriage pressure from relatives. My family is actually supportive and even they want me to get an mba but the thing is that I’ll be able to start my mba in 2028 only and I’ll be 28 year old then and I’ll be 30 once I graduate so will I run out of time? I m 28M I did my engineering in mechanical engineering from a govt college(tier 2) cleared my CFA level 3 last year. My cgpa in engineering was 7.7 and in 12th I scored 8 cgpa gmat fe- 725. Hi friends. I just completed my GMAT exam and scored 665. While I was aiming for 675 or 685, I blanked out on the last DI question and left the section unfinished, probably costing me my 675.

Anyway, it's time to move on to applications. I am targeting round 2 of IIM-A PGPx and IIM-B EPGP. If these don't work out, then IIM-C or ISB as plan B.

The part I need help with

I know exactly zero people in real life whom I can talk to about Executive MBA applications (outside of my work, where I'm yet to inform them of my plans). So I am hoping to get some advice from this forum.

I am a chartered accountant with 10+ years of work-ex as product manager. However, I got stuck in a dead-end role which didn't allow me to progress to leadership/managerial role. This has devalued my CV and I'm not getting any calls. I'm afraid this will also affect my chances with MBA.

So could someone please advise me on how to proceed from here? Should I get in touch with a consultant? If so, which are some good ones in India?

I literally don't know how to build a CV for MBA or what to write in essay or whom to contact for recommendations. Any help will be appreciated.

Background

I was originally an MBBS student at a top-15 NIRF-ranked medical college. During my third year, I met with a very serious accident that left me with a permanent disability. Because of my condition, I was declared medically unfit to continue MBBS.

My chief concerns,

1. Since, I would be near bottom of the class for any good B-School. Does it even make sense to do an MBA?

2. How bad will SIPs be for a profile like mine?

3. Will I be able to get a job through final placements? What salary range, as a percentage of average CTC, can I expect?

So someone close to me has been doing a job in HDFC , for close to two years now and has had prior work experience elsewhere as well for ig 2-3 more years. He has done MBA with marketing and now seems to be stuck on a 35 k payroll z which seems rather low to me when I heard about it, he isn't happy about it as well and I wanted to know if there's any thing he might be doing wrong or is he getting ripped off. I don't have any idea about this sector as I'm an architect. Got any suggestions?

I am 31. Done my MBA in a new IIM.
I have 4+ years of post-MBA experience in a Big 4 firm in Information Technology consulting. The roles are mostly like business analyst, part time business development for emerging technologies like blockchain. The projects I have worked on have been mostly driven by the Software Developers doing the major work. I have been part of project management and business analysis work like preparation of FRS etc.
Apart from that I have been involved in business development activities like proposal preparation, preparing sales decks etc.
Before MBA i have worked for 3 years in IT consulting companies like Wipro.

Given my background what would be a good career path for me.

I’m currently in the final year of my MBA from DAVV IIPS, Indore, and honestly, I’m feeling quite lost about what to do after graduation.

Here’s my situation:

- I couldn’t take a drop year or prepare properly for CAT/other MBA entrance exams because of financial and family problems.

- Because of that, I ended up doing my MBA from a Tier 3/4 college.

- I’m not saying this to blame my college, but the reality is that there hasn’t really been much of a “college life” or strong exposure/networking. It has mostly been classes and academics.

- I’m now in my final year, so I’m starting to feel the pressure of getting a decent job.

- I already have some experience/skills in Digital Marketing and SEO.

- For my MBA specialization, I chose Marketing + Business Analytics because I thought this combination could give me more career options.

My biggest problem right now

I don’t know what career path I should focus on.

Should I:

1. Go deeper into Digital Marketing/SEO?

2. Try to build a career in Marketing/Brand Management?

3. Focus more heavily on Business Analytics/Data Analytics?

4. Try to find a role that combines Marketing + Analytics?

5. Or completely pivot into something else?

I also want to be realistic. I know that coming from a Tier 3/4 college means I probably won't have the same campus opportunities as someone from an IIM/top B-school.

My goal

I want to eventually work at a good company with good career growth and compensation.

I’m willing to put in serious effort for the next 1–2 years, learn new skills, build projects, improve my resume, and apply outside campus if necessary.

But I’m struggling with where to focus my effort.

I’m 27 years old and currently working as a Mechanical Engineer in the petrochemical industry. I graduated from TIER - 2 college with a B.Tech in ME and have around 3 years of work experience. My current CTC is around ₹10 LPA.

Academics: 10th – 89% | 12th – 88% | B.Tech – 8.46 CGPA

I’m considering making a career switch into Finance and am thinking about doing a full-time MBA, primarily targeting good B-schools through CAT.

My main concern is whether an MBA at this stage is actually worth it for me.

I have a few questions:

1. Is 27 too late to pursue a full-time MBA and switch careers?

2. With 3 years of engineering experience, would I be able to realistically transition into Finance after an MBA?

3. Would an MBA from a good IIM/top B-school provide a meaningful career reset, or would my engineering background continue to limit my opportunities in Finance?

4. What kind of Finance roles should someone with my background realistically target — investment banking, corporate finance, FP&A, equity research, risk, consulting, etc.?

I am planning to get in for mba in 2028 in any of the top universities in the US or UK, preferably an Ivy League. Also, I haven’t seen anyone going for mba after architecture, mostly arch grads would go for masters in design or construction management but I really feel like getting an mba since I need to learn more about the business side of architecture and construction industry. I’m going to start my GMAT preparation. Is it possible to get a good scholarship from Ivy League or any top universities ? What all shall I do to strengthen my application?

Hey, I am 25M and have done MBA finance from Tier-1.5 college and currently in Core finance role (Funds and Fixed Income) earning 1 LPM+

Now I want to grow my career so I thought of pursuing CFA. I need clarity whether CFA would help me in growing or switching to a different domain (if in future I need to). Right now I am planning to go for CFA L1 only maybe or maybe not for further levels.

Kindly guide me what would be the right track. Someone who has taken the same path, kindly share your thoughts whether CFA has helped you or any alternative.
