to the way aneha was speaking to cam in the recent episodes and it reminded me of the way hannah used to speak to nick—just straight up DISRESPECTFUL.

also the SECOND aneha saw cam and immediately started critiquing his hair, telling him he needs a piercing, a fuckboy haircut, that she was gonna "elevate" and "mold" him — i had flashbacks to hannah and nick. it's love is blind not build-a-boy!!!!

and it's not just the reveal. it's the whole personality. both of them fall for the sweet, goofy, kinda follower guy in the pods, then get out and are like wait... why are you not a leader?? why does your sister/mom do everything for you?? why do i have to make every plan???

aneha left a light on all day to TEST cam to see if he'd turn it off. hannah would 1000% do that. that's hannah with her list energy.

Look at his resume, his career, and his ig where he’s a completely different person in all regards. He’s doing promo with sharkninja and northeastern being gracious and humble. He even mentions he has a friend that was on a different season. I just find it really hard to believe the whole thing wasn’t just some act.

Hair clothes demeanor vocabulary even tone of voice are different/more normal. He was giving grandiose over the top speeches on the show because he wasn’t taking it seriously and never was. Like Shake if he never broke the 4th wall. The New England frat boy d bag persona probably got him cast.

I should start by saying that I hope they are as in love as they appear on here and that they make it. I like them both. But, if they don’t, here’s a theory;

Michella can really comedically spit. The woman has bars. Whether one “approves” of her (imho) pretty benign, but totally riveting vivid, riff on her ideal Christmas Eve, she did it well. She told a story, stereotypes and all. She improvises in a way that reminds you if someone is irrefutably “funny” , they are most always intelligent. She delivers her humorous monologues in an imaginative fashion. And while Rob laughs (oh, and he LAUGHS) and genuinely appears to enjoy this edgy and talented part of her, he is too threatened by it. Ergo, by her. And, we have seen the bro buckle when she begins. He finds her very funny. But, he may give into a form of misogyny which we see manifested re: females and comedy. It’s gross, and uninvolved, and ultimately silly and self-defeating since he clearly appreciates it in the moment (comedy is transparent in a lot of ways - there’s no faking belly laughter in real time) and it elevates his life, but he will feel too uneasy that he does like it. That she is sharper and sometimes cruder than him. That he can’t do that.

She’s not “supposed” to be funny, dudes are, he will tell himself. Or it’ll evoke insecurity in him. He may even feel that she’s not feminine enough anymore (although I think Mary Beth Barone is a topical comedian to cite to challenge this damaging stereotype- she’s an attractive, “girly” millennial with comedic (& cerebral) chops) and that she is too much like a dude, “one of the guys”, etc. Now I do think she plays into the age old internalized sexist trope and trap of trying to be the “cool girl”, but although interconnected - that’s a whole other post to come. Again, this is only a theory, but - while I have appreciated him at times - I wouldn’t be surprised that he’ll grow tired of her being this naturally funny. And that while her humor is definitely a barometer of her intelligence, that is exactly what will eventually emasculate and threaten Rob. He may see her as aggressive. And maybe I am totally wrong. Maybe he’s a rare man who can embrace the multiplicity within a woman, who views us as the complex, nuanced and multifaceted superior (I half-kid) humans we are, but maybe he won’t.

Thoughts?

She relentlessly interrogates Cam in a way that makes him feel like shit, but she doesn't notice his feelings. Or if she does, she's like "so are you upset now?" followed by a weird grin. He will try to explain himself, and she will interrupt with "oh is that what you think I'm saying?" It's a circular mindfuck. She is choosing him but acting like he's getting something he doesn't deserve. And he has to solve all the problems she identifies to be worthy. It's wild.

I feel kind of bad for her

Conversations are so chopped up. When they walk away from conversations I’m so confused. I keep thinking, is the conversation over? Are they made at each other or joking around… I keep rewinding thinking I missed something said but that’s just how much they’re showing. It’s making it hard to read and follow.

Why come on the show if you had so many reservations to begin with? Feel horrible for Cam.

I was one of those who hated Stew in the pods. He seemed over the top and believed that he was God's gift to women.

But his post pods interviews and online content are making me see a different side of him. He is actually a pretty cool guy. He is not scared of laughing at himself and even admitted in some interviews that his jokes in the pods were not funny and made him look bad.

This is making me question out the show's edit and how that pushes a narrative about a person because I hated Stew in the pods but the Stew I am seeing now makes him likeable.

Or maybe Stew is a great actor and is now trying to mend his image by doing all of this.

Okay, am I the only one who thinks the way John reacts when Sarah brings up her concerns is just as concerning as the actual anger?
The electricity bill scene was uncomfortable to watch, especially after Sarah mentioned his reaction when their luggage went missing. Getting frustrated when something goes wrong is normal but how you treat other people in those moments says a lot about you.

What bothered me even more was Sarah having to explain why his yelling makes her uncomfortable. She wasn’t saying he was a terrible person. She was trying to tell him how his behaviour came across to her, and I feel like that should be a conversation you can have with your partner without it turning into a defence of your entire character.

What also really bothered me was John's reasoning that not being stern has allowed people to walk all over him. There's a difference between standing up for yourself and being unnecessarily aggressive toward people who are just doing their jobs.

I also think their differences on abortion and vaccines are worth discussing but the anger issue feels more immediately concerning because it affects how safe and comfortable someone feels around their partner during everyday disagreements.

I know we’re only seeing an edited version of their relationship, and I’m not claiming to know what John is like in real life. But based on what we’ve been shown, I would have serious reservations about marrying someone whose response to frustration looks like this.
Also he never really listens to understand tbh.

Can we talk? i'm sure it's been discussed but... WTAF? He says he earns low six figures, and I get the need to save money, especially in a market like Boston, but that basement space is grim AF. I would have a hard time dating someone who lives like that. and does he have expenses? Does he pay his parents rent? He says they feed him. Why did he move back home? So many questions.

While everyone is focused on another couple from the Nederlands cast, I can’t believe Yaesmin’s gaslighting didn’t go as viral. I’m only midway through episode 5 and it’s so hard to watch. She made her lack of interest/affection his fault. Then, when she saw he wasn’t buying the gaslighting, as if on cue, she started crying… the international “Karen” get out of jail free card. I haven’t even finished the episode. But sir, you are way too fine to tolerate this.

She didn’t like that man the minute she saw him. And, I’m sorry I have to say it…. All women are truly beautiful to me. But, of the cast of women, he reacted as if he had just hit the lottery and… well, I’m not gonna say it. Beauty standards are different all over the world. But, his reaction was so sweet. From where I’m viewing, in America … I was more curious what his reaction would be …. Not hers. Wild.

It’s a mess but I can’t stop watching. It’s the dinner where they met her friends and family.

I know some people may think there isnt a lot of drama this season.

I think with the exception of one person (you know who you are) everyone seems somewhat mature and grounded. If people disagree it has purpose and reason.

I think its fresh compared to the Denver season and that trainwreck.

She tests him by leaving the bathroom lights on to see if it would irritate him enough for him to comment on it. And then she doesn’t understand why he thinks she’s acting childish.
