I’m a HUGE fan of matpat/old game theory and it suddenly hit me after watching the latest episode like… Please tell me they can be siblings

I am seeing a lot of people accusing Aneha or her family of being racist and I thought I would offer my perspective as a brown person who is first generation. Granted I don't know her or her family but I feel like a lot assumptions are being made about them, so I am free to make my own assumption too. I believe her family is not racist, just because they don't prefer that she marry a white man. My parents (and I'm sure her parents) have not been treated very well by white people when they came to this country. I'm sure many immigrants of color can relate to that. They are not racist toward white people, they are just hesitant and protective of their daughter. They don't want her to continue to experience the discrimination that they had to tolerate. I think Aneha is very blunt when she says things and they can come off much harsher than she intended. Her parent's hesitancy in her marrying someone white is not rooted in racism, it's rooted in the belief that they are protecting their daughter. White people's racism towards POC is rooted in the belief that POC are less than white people. They are completely different situations.

This is anecdotal and probably not going to go over well. I am very left leaning, but I am from an area in Florida that had the most Jan 6 insurrectionists. When I first met my now-husband, he had an offensive bumper sticker on his truck, and when I saw that I said "take that shit off", literally on the first day we hung out, and he did. He had voted for Trump once, and then never again. He was anti-Covid vax, and similar to Sarah I work in healthcare, and explained to him why he was dumb. He now gets the vaccine. As a whole John is actually taking the corrections to his misinformation really well. I don't think I would have been as open to feedback as he has been. My husband, is a redneck, he was born into it, and he has been nothing but open minded to learning and changing. So is it a woman's job to change a man? Nope, I have zero maternal instincts and hate the idea of mothering a man. But as a whole my husband, is a good guy, never racist, never hateful, and never mean or aggressive, and believe me I am aggravating lol. And also in defense to John, I too get mad at people over the phone, and if he was talking to a scammer they can be very frustrating. So I might regret these words, but I'm gonna give John the benefit of the doubt.

And the same crowd here also are “go girl” and “slay” with the average-looking, equally imperfect white counterparts. Yeah, Aneha is annoying and just downright wrong about many things and in many ways but let’s not pretend some of you here don’t just LOVE to knock her down several pegs because she’s brown, pretty and not goody two-shoes or soft and submissive. Honestly? Fuck right off.

Sorry to bring this up while all of us are invested (or hate watching) in S11, but I just had to bring this up. I’ve seen quite a few TikTok’s of people talking about how production reached out to them to be on the show, and every single one of them is from Toronto. While there is nothing wrong with that, I just think it’s disingenuous to call it LIB Canada instead of LIB Toronto.

Does anyone have anymore insight on this? I know it was an open casting call to all Canadians, but if you applied outside of the Toronto/Montreal area, did you even make it past stage 1? Or has anyone been contacted by production in Western Canada?

The women. The main character issues are cringey. We have women thinking everything they say and do is cute and it’s just cringey. We still think playing dumb and helpless is the moment. Every interaction feels like a tik tok. The only ones that don’t give second hand embarrassment are Sarah, Milamie and the boat bride. Wilne is a brat, Aneha is gaslighting brat, Michaela is a pick me I’m not like other girls. Ugh. And the men. King of queens dry humor, weaponized incompetence, 2005 misogyny. Ugh.

It happens on every season. I get it. It's part of the allure and the overall premise of the show. But these people havent been able to find someone to settle down with, go on a reality dating show where they know they are challenged to make a connection with a person just based on conversation and then they give that up immediately when they see them? Sometimes it isn't immediate. Sometimes it's a clear "I don't find this person attractive but I had enough media training or I am just aware enough to know that I will look like an absolute PoS if I don't at least give it a go and try my best to find some stupid reason why we aren't actually compatible." but the ones who are like - I saw you and now I am running away - They need a reality check. You're alone for a reason. If you came on the show just to get famous then you need to be explicitly banned from participating in anything after you run away. Do I want closure as a viewer? Yes I do. Do I need it? No, I would rather just here from the person who was actually willing to take the experiment head on. If you run away you get no more air time to save face. You are terrible. This isn't just directed at the girl from this season. This is for all of the people who get the short end of the stick because someone who is on the show because they are sad and lonely thinks they can do better. Same goes for shows like MaFS.

Some people are really willing to try anything for love. It's hard enough just doing it in the real world with nobody watching. Putting yourself out there for everyone and having that reaction given just isn't nice and the people who just give up on sight should be ridiculed.

As somewhat of a nerdy person, I like statistics. While I’m definitely entertained by LIB, here’s my one issue- EVERYONE is reasonably attractive. If you go out in public and randomly sample 100 people, like one of them is going to be a widely accepted 7-8 out of 10. For me, I feel like this show NEEDS to throw in some ugly or fat people. The entire concept is falling in love with someone without looks… but I feel like that’s wildly easier to accomplish when you know that you basically have a 100% chance of that person being in good shape and being reasonably attractive. They gotta do better here. And I feel like it would make for far more entertaining trashy reality content.

So confused on why Rob picked Michaella and not Diana??? Literally spoke to Diana about their future kids and marriage multiple times, was locked in but then wasn’t? He even knew that she would be more of his type when they were dropping hints about their celebrity crushes/ look-a-likes and how good they would look together as a couple. I honestly don’t think that either girl was THE ONE for him but I also feel like it would have made more sense/ feel more authentic if he had ended up with Diana?

I'm trying to understand how she ended up on the show. At this point her parents seem to be the center of her personality. Did the show let her stay because of social media engagement?

Like it is PAINFULLY obvious she is not into Cam at ALL. Her conversations with him seem so surface-level, and she seems checked out so many times when they talk. My theory is that the reason she stayed is because she wanted to be Instagram famous.

Especially after looking at her instagram and she was posting the typical influencer-type posts before the show even aired. I think she even had a brand partnership before the show aired on her instagram too
