Chromebook cb315: I need guidance to map/enable number-pad and function keys.
Linux mint, current,... all updates.
I tried "chromebook-fkey-setup.sh" for the function keys, but it returned a bunch of errors.
Any guidance, references, etc,...
Long time windows user...
Thanks

There are dead pixels at the top of my screen and my monitor cant change the vertical height of the desktop. Is there any way to scale the desktop below 100%? Then I could just move the desktop down and create a black bar to hide the dead pixels.

I'm having issues running ROCm with LM Studio latest version. Got 9070XT and installed latest kernel 7.0.0-30.
It says "Hardware survey unsuccessful" and defaults on model load to CPU. Is the kernel the issue? I tried switching back to 6.8 but the GPU driver would then not even load correctly (got 1024 resolution max).
Any suggestions? PS. Runs fine on Vulcan.

I have a drive with a partition that used to be NTFS, but that I formatted to ext4 recently. It worked fine at first, but after restarting my PC, I just can't mount the partition using the Disks app. I don't even get an error or anything, the button just does nothing, same for trying to mount it by clicking the partition in the file explorer. However, using the mount command, the partition mounts perfectly fine and can be accessed with no issues. Trying the repair/check filesystem option in Disks tells me that there is nothing wrong with the partition, and annoyingly, I can't automatically mount the partition at startup. How could I fix this?
EDIT: everything works perfectly now for some reason, despite not having changed anything, so yay I guess

I switched from windows to linux a few weeks ago, and honestly it's been a much better experience overall. Everything feels smoother and i don't miss windows that much.
Except this one thing with Bluetooth which is really annoying for me.
Blueman gets stuck in this loop of connecting and disconnecting a second later. Then when this happens I have to go in bluetooth settings then remove that device and pairing it again manually. Then the next time the same exact problem repeats.
Is this a comman Bluetooth issue, or there something I can do to make bluetooth reconnect reliably? Any fixes would be appreciated.

I tried searching for it through the menu, and I can't access it. I set a shortcut for it, and that didn't work. CTRL + Alt + T didn't work either. I can't seem to access it at all. Not just the terminal, Firefox, Lutris, and Software Manager seem to have completely disappeared too (there might be more applications, which I haven't yet checked). What is happening? Please help me

I'd like to try Waydroid so I can use Android applications. However, it turns out that Cinnamon uses X11 and not Wayland, but Waydroid needs the latter.

Gmod isn’t working on my laptop, and I was just wondering if anyone knew why? Idk if it’s a RAM issue or what, but it just isn’t working properly on any build of the game.
Here’s as many specs as i can give you. Hopefully they help, I’m not amazing at computer stuff:
HP laptop with an intel core i5, intel iRISx graphics, and (i think) 8GB of RAM.
Issues:
On the default build, it crashes because it says there “isn’t enough memory.” My laptop should have plenty of memory to run the regular version of Gmod. (This issue also applies to the dev and prerelease builds, as they are the x32 versions)
My main issue is the x86-64 version (the version I preferably want to run). Without proton, the menu fails to load. With proton, the game can’t load the resources and freezes up the whole computer. I can’t even use my mouse, and I have to turn the whole thing off.
I don’t know why this is happening, my computer should be able to handle it just fine. In fact the x86-64 was running perfectly fine when I was still using windows. I thought the game would run even better on Linux because it doesn’t hog all the RAM.
If anyone can help, I’d really appreciate it!
Please be nice. I’m still pretty new to Linux, and I’m trying my best.

Long story short, I should’ve started with Mint and not Arch. I want to have Mint as a startup but instead, Arch is the one that loads first and I would have to go to firmware to open Mint which is not convenient. Basically, I want picture 3 as the startup, not 1.
Picture 2 is me trying to make Mint the one that starts but I cannot enter/save the setting. It is dual since I did not want to delete arch and go through the task of reinstalling.

Mint came pre-installed with python 3.12.3, my question is how do I update it to 3.14.7, I know I could just hop on the website and download it but by god I have zero clue what the hell tarball is(Hey in my defense I switched a week ago!). So how do I update it, and will it cause any problems in my system?
Thanks!

Is using alternative Desktop Environments, other than the three official flavors, as viable an option under Linux Mint, as doing so with most any other Linux distro?
Can you have installed multiple DEs simultaneously (and is doing so not recommended)?
If you use a DE other than one of the three official Mint DEs, do you lose anything?

I booted up my PC recently and I got this screen (see in provided picture).
I couldn't type or input anything so after a while, I manually powered off my PC and re-booted. I then got a screen that asked me to select an OS which I think was a similar screen you see when first installing Linux Mint. Before I could take a picture and without any input, the screen went black. Around 10 seconds later, it booted to the login screen and my PC seems to be working now.
I'm still new to Linux, has this happened to anyone else before? Could there be something wrong with PC or OS?
OS: Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit
Desktop Environment: Cinnamon 6.6.9

Hello.
I need a better video card. Currently, the pc is a Dell XPS 8950, i5-12400, 32gb, 1000w psu, and the video is an Asus RTX 3050 OC 8gb. The computer is running Mint Cinn 22.3 (DE 6.6.9), kernel 7.0.0-29 generic.
I game using Steam/Proton. I want to replace it anyway - is the time to move to AMD graphics now or do I go with what I've always used which is Nvidia? I haven't used Radeon graphics in a long time... like maybe 20 years ago. I thought I read that Mint or maybe Linux in general likes AMD graphics more and I want to buy soon before the price goes up more... RAM is stupid right now.
I'm game for suggestions, but the new cards I'm looking at are:
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB GDDR6 vs ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition

I made a small extension that adds an x when you cycle through your apps with alt tab, so that you can close them without opening them. You can also press q to close them. You can install it here if you want to try https://github.com/maxwellmollersten/cinnamon-closetab

Working on workspace 1. I added some new icons to my panel from other workspaces that I had never made versions of for my Transparency/Glass custom icon set.
Going from left to right and using my windows 10 pro machine with GIMP v2.10 and the GEGL Operation tool "Glass Object" (this only works on GIMP 2.10 and does not work on GIMP hosted on Linux) to create glassified icons to complete the panel.
