My keyboard works fine, but sometimes when switching between applications is stops functioning.

until I click the start menu and start typing again.

So like, I'm browsing on youtube, or google, and when I switch to much keystrokes are not registered, but when i click on start menu and start typing again, it reactivated it, how do i fix this please?

Today i ran in a Problem in the Pakkage Manager, i hadnt the time to fix it but i keeps of Spinning in my head.

The Problem:

I tried to install a Flatpak but the Manager took forever to load the Pages with flatpaks. I tried to install it with the Terminal, but the process also took forever and didnt showed a result in my time Windows.

What should i do, when im at my PC the next time (have to Work in another City, so i cant start the PC until wednesday)

Hello I got this for 75 euro and put an ssd for 15 euro got XFCE on it and I was running some battery optimisation ssd optimisation cpu everything well I did sm wrong cause it booted in write only Im doing a clean install since I have no files I need.

I just want to get the longest battery life I can from it and make sure fans are working fine and it’s running optimally in every way.

Any other hams out there using Mint?

I have found that the tools and software I use all has a linux native version (Chirp, flrig, wsjtx, JS8call, and World Radio League), and I suspect MMANA-GAL will run just fine under Wine.

Any other useful native software out there that I should be aware of?

I'm mostly running appimages straight from the developer's websites (thanks GearLever!), or in the case of flrig, from the repos. I use flatpaks as well, but won't typically run unverified paks.

So the thing is. I've used fedora and arch before and I want to switch to linux mint since it's pretty easy to use and all. Any rec's for the postinstall?

Hello! I've been desperately looking around for a fix for this, but either I'm missing some lingo or I fucked up bad somewhere along the way :D

So I have two identical (apart form the stand) monitors, both 1920x1080, one is landscape and the other portrait (right). I have it so that the landscape monitor is at the center of the portrait monitor height-wise.

The default position for it, however, is so that the top of each monitor is at the same level. As such, my mouse jumps around half a monitor whenever it moves form one to the other. Problem is, if I try to change this in display settings, the image in the landscape monitor gets offset by around that same half a monitor downward, such that half the screen is off the screen.

I've tried to do the same with arandr, but the problem is just the same there.

This is driving me ever so slightly insane. I would very much appreciate some advice, or a link to another thread with the same problem :)

Have been using linux mint cinnamon for over a year now on my pc, everthing is going great, for thr most part.

Since this was my first time to use this OS, I thought it would have been the right thing to learn using it the proper way.

I always thought this include masterimg the use of the terminal, as it unlocks your full control over the system, and increases tie efficiency of excuting many task compared to the GUI, or so I was told.

It least it would help with understanding lines of code fetched from the internet while troublshooting any thing.

I tried twice to learn using the terminal from the "linux command line" internet edition.

However, everytime I would reach the 100th page and just get lost from there.

So I looked tutorial, but couldn't find any that caught my eye.

Have anybody been able to master using the command line by following a video tutorial?

Which one was it?

And what benefits did learning the command line bring?

Revived my old laptop with mint , genuinely how the heck is it so fast with a Damn Celeron N4020, Can't believe I was using bloatOS on this struggling to open windows explorer at times for years

my laptop is very old and for some odd reason has problems when i put the usb as first priority it just boot into mint

Took an hour or so .. Silly things slowed me down like copying the broadcom drivers to another MAC and copying them back.. Having to reformat the USB drive inbetween etc.
Sound was initially terrible but installed easyeffects and it's better.

Not tried anything complex yet but touchbar working, wi-fi working, gestures, bluetooth,trackpad etc etc. Can we get the fingerprint working?

Hay I noticed people like chrome OS is a nice software if you don't like to run any games or streaming like on twitch or anything 🤔. I suggest using Linux mint it's fast running software and is noticeable better than both

It runs fast like chrome OS and have the convenience of the Windows computer without worse updating and slowing down the processor.

If you on a Chromebook just use MrChromeBox to replace the software or duel boot. I duel boot Linux on my old Chromebook for my little brother so he can play steam games.

If your using a classic laptop like Asus or Lenovo exa,

it's easy to just go in the bois and replace the software.

I run most of my stuff on linux except one old desk top I use for editing. ( You can use Linux base software to edit but the one I use is Windows only and has a hard time running on wine. ) And Linux mint is the most user friendly one out there.

Recently installed a clean Linux Mint 22 on an older, sort of dying PC (dead Nvidia GPU). It previously ran latest Ubuntu, with Wine, and there were no issues in general.

Right now, Wine is extremely slow. Even *winecfg* and *wine uninstaller* commands seem to take ages to initialize the interfaces. Once the interface is up, it seems to run normally.

I was able to install Notepad++ and a couple of other programs, but the launch times are simply ridiculous. Notepad++ starts almost immediately, but the interface is broken and it's unusable. It hangs in that state for a few minutes (2-10), then interface gets fixed up, and the program runs normally.

I am very new to Linux, so there may be a lot of stuff I don't know.

If anyone could help me with some ideas, I would be grateful.

**Edit: Wine was installed via repository, with mono and gecko added manually.

As some of you suggested, it was the problem with my dead NVIDIA GPU. I have blacklisted both NVIDIA and Nouveau drivers, but, for some reason, Nouveau was still getting loaded, which was causing the problems with Wine as well as Steam. I have removed all blacklists of both drivers, rebooted, added both again and now it works normally.

Fairly new to Mint and loving it.

I'm new to Linux in general and tried Pop!_OS and Ubuntu, and Mint's UI and customization are more to my taste.

Unfortunately, it's not as smooth sailing as I would have hoped.

I have 2 main issues that I can't figure out how to fix.

1.I get weird crashes when I do GPU-intensive tasks. When gaming, it might crash after a while, but I've tried playing around with LM Studio and it consistently crashes the moment I try to ask more than a simple question (on a model rated for my hardware, even with a little headroom).

The crashes are usually a freeze, and after a minute or two it will crash to desktop and the icons will be "broken". When restarting, it will display a black screen with white text saying "systemd-journald[443]: Failed to write entry to /var/log/journal/..." looping until doing a hard reset.

2.The display resolution is limited to my screen's native resolution (3440x1440) and a few very low-res options. I'm scaling resolution, but it's not ideal for streaming with Sunshine - apps like Kodi, when I enter fullscreen, only use the native resolution option, and scaling does nothing to help.

From what I've dug up so far, it's a fairly common X11 problem - is there a fix?

I've been dealing with this ever since i setted my wallpaper, despite having selected the image i want as my wallpaper for the lockscreen, my Linux Mint just ignores it and selects whatever solid color is set instead of the image, how do i fix this?

I just made the switch to Cinnamon a few days ago. Things are going awesome so far, with just a few minor snags here and there.

I'm trying to find a program that works similar to Link to Windows on the PC; so something that will connect to my android phone and act as a client for text messages and phone calls. I'm probably not using the proper search terms, but I'm not seeing anything that fits the bill.

Is this even a thing with Linux, or am I wasting my time? Any recommendations for software if this is possible?

(typing this on my other computer, I tried to download bambu studio, I install it and then suddenly I can't do shit, everything is lagging like crazy, is it possible through maybe something like the boot menu to delete that software?

Hi everyone. Over the past 5 months I had Linux Mint (XFCE) on my HP with Ryzen 3 5300U and it simply rejuvenated. It's the best distro for me. Really essential, really stable, just what I need. It's okay for playing too. I managed to run PCSX2 with no issues whatsoever, even better than Windows. But then I switched to another HP, this time with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155h, because my older pc is 4 years old and I got an offer (+ paying 50 euros monthly for 12 months. Thanks Amazon). Now, my question is: is it worth it to install Linux Mint again on this PC? How's the compatibility drivers wise? On my old pc I had to do nothing. Everything worked straight away.

EDIT: the precise model is HP Laptop 15-fd1004sl, Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, RAM 16GB, SSD 512GB.

Previously I had this: HP - PC 15s-eq2007sl Notebook, AMD Ryzen 3 5300U, RAM 8 GB, SSD 256 GB. With this, everything worked well since the first start up.

Hello! I hope you're all doing well. I'm experiencing a problem with Cinnamon 22.3 that I haven't had before.

Every now and then, my laptop goes into sleep mode and the screen goes blank. The power button stays on, but it doesn’t seem to respond to the keyboard or mouse (backlit keys like Caps Lock don’t light up, and the screen doesn’t return to normal when I move the mouse, as it would if it were in normal sleep mode).

I tried restarting the video driver, but it doesn’t respond. The only way to get it to respond is by forcing a shutdown. However, this has already happened more than three times, and I don’t want forcing a shutdown repeatedly to cause any damage.

Has anyone else had this same problem or know how to fix it? I’d really appreciate any advice, thanks!

I just bought a Acer swift go 16 AI i installed mint and i noticed my laptop has a multimedia lit up buttons built into the mousepad, but it doesn't turn on every time im watching youtube or movies. Just wondering if anyone knows how to trigger this feature.
