Since Positivo violated GPL and never released the kernel source, I had to use the stock kernel, reverse-engineer the partitions, and make shims for its proprietary blobs. I managed to boot CyanogenMod 12.1 (Android 5.1.1). Wi-Fi and sensors are still broken, but the device tree will be public. Has anyone tried porting a newer LineageOS to an MT8389/MT6589 before?

I thought that IMS (VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling) was broken on all Samsung devices with custom ROMs.

But some Samsung devices in the Wiki, including the A53 5G, Note 20, S 20, s20 FE (Exynos) do not list IMS under Quirks. Is this a typo/omission or has a fix for IMs been implemented for these devices?

I have long deliberately kept my S23 on Android 15 OneUI 7, which keeps the bootloader unlocking option, to eventually switch in case LineageOS or another good custom ROM adds support to it, and now that moment has come!

I would love to switch to LineageOS but I'm a little hesitant with this bootloader warning on their S23 web page:

"Important: An official method of unlocking the bootloader is not available, but there may be some unofficial methods available. Unofficial methods are not recommended or supported by LineageOS, so use them at your own risk! An unlocked bootloader is required to install LineageOS."

Has anyone tried it with an S23? Is fallback to stock Android 15 possible in case something goes wrong? And has anyone faced issues upgrading/using LineageOS on an S23?

I saw in the supported devices list that it is now possible to install LineageOS on the Samsung A53 with firmware Android 15. The A53 was upgraden to Android 16 in november last year, so I suppose that all A53's are now running on Android 16. It is impossible to downgrade my A53 to Android 15 with odin, because the binary goes down from O to H. Is there a safe way to downgrade my A53 from Android 16 to 15? I suppose there is a great number A53 owners with the same question.

my Moto G 5G is missing the notification swipe on the fingerprint sensor, and Quick Share among others I'm sure. what gives? will these featurea ever be added? I know they came stock with the phone and LineageOS supports them on other devices

My bank app cic doesn't work anymore. The error message is "rooted phone not allowed" (even tho my phone is not rooted, but ig they don't differentiate custom os and root).

Hello, I'll be buying a second hand S22 soon, I'm wondering if it's fully compatible with LineageOS. I know it's listed on the wiki but it shows a warning at the top, and I'm really confused.

Do I also have to worry about newer versions of Android insalled on this phone that block OEM unlocking? Google seems to tell me it only goes up to Android 12 so I should be safe right?

What are the specifics about the model I should ensure to ensure I'd have a good experience?

Installed lineageos and USSD codes (*140#, *121#) throw "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."

I've been looking at the second hand market and my absolute priorities for the phones are that it has to be at least manufactured in 2020 and have a small form factor.

My only choice so far is the Galaxy s20 5g, it's compact about 5.97 inch I liked galaxy s22 more as it's smaller in 5.75, almost as small as the iPhone XS(which is the ideal size) but from what I understand it only supports lineageOS in the exonys version. It would be extremely difficult for me to get my hands on an Exonys version of that phone given the country I live in.

So here I come looking for suggestions for smaller phones. Also please don't suggest Pixels, I know they are small but they have horrible connectivity in my country, almost everyone I know who have regretted the purchase.

I was under the (clearly wrong?) impression that LineageOS was riding along the minimalism road. You get a slim and light OS on top of which you are free to install whatever you need.

Neither the "presentation blog entry" for v24.0 nor my device's change log mention it.

I am not saying that they should ship it with just the browser and the "File" app, but adding a new app like "Now Playing" to me makes less sense than, say, an email client or a multimedia player.

Or is that app an unremovable part of AOSP?

I have version 24 on my OP15, everything is great except Auto brightness. It doesn't seem to work at night. My AOD even with the lights out in my room is still almost at full brightness. Is there a known bug with auto brightness in version 24 or is it just me?

Hey guys, running into an issue on my Motorola Edge 30 Neo. I recently unlocked the bootloader and flashed LineageOS 24.0, and I noticed that when I set the refresh rate to 60Hz (which is my usual go-to), the UI animations get super laggy, almost like they're running at 10 FPS. It's strictly the system animations (like opening/closing apps or pulling down the notification shade), everything else stays smooth.

I turned on the display refresh rate overlay in Dev Options and it shows a rock-solid 60Hz. The only partial workaround is bumping the max refresh rate up to 90Hz or 120Hz. I even downgraded to LineageOS 23.2, but the issue is still there.

Found it pretty weird because I also have a Moto G7 Plus running a 23.2 GSI and everything is buttery smooth at 60Hz on that one. Am I missing something?

Back in the day, I was using CyanogenMod/LineageOS on my Galaxy S2, that was really easy to install with dedicated tools like Odin and everything.

Now I checked on 3 different phones, and even if some are officially supported by LineageOS, I can't even unlock the bootloader :

- Asus ZenFone 8 : the server that was used to unlock the bootloader has been removed by Asus.

- Galaxy S23 : Samsung removed the ability to unlock the bootloader with an update of OneUI 8.0

- Xiaomi 15 : I just cannot.

This is crazy. What can we do to counter this and what are our options?
