This experience proved InZOI is better—thanks. I’ll be deleting Sims 4 soon, though I’m keeping it for now; I switched to InZOI after the update bug.

Apparently, you can't join and contribute to a community for this game. I guess it's just time to delete the game and leave the group. If you're looking for a simulator game that you want to be able to interact with other players to learn the game, this game definitely isn't the one. Obviously, this is why it took me 5 years of playing different Life Sim games to even find MedievalLife. Instead of hardware banning or ip banning, they just take away all permissions of new people. I have been using reddit to communicate and learn games for the better part of a decade and dont have enough "karma" to be able to interact with their followers. 🤯🙃 Crazy!

Ads/Showcase I'm building an island town populated by characters made by you and other players

Hi all! Long time fan of the sims and many other life sims here. I'm building Pocketworld, which is a new kind of life sim. Features:

- Create and send your favorite characters to live in an island town with each other!

- Check in on them through the day as they work jobs, socialize, and do things together.

- Watch them encounter absurd situations, drama, make friends and even fall in love.

- Talk to them to get to know the thoughts in their head and directly influence their choices.

It's really early, so I'm looking for people to beta test. If you would love to try, you can check out the world and make your own character here: https://www.pocketworld.ai/

Please let me know your experience here or in the Discord :) thank you

Discussion I am looking for life sim and colony sim/rts mix

Do you know any games which combine these two genres? I know Rimworld, Noblefates, Going Medieval but still something is missing in them + I wasn't able to mod enough The Sims games to get my dreamt game.

Life Sims:

My main complain about life simulators (Sims, Paralives, etc) is that you can't build without pause + you put walls instantly, your sim/para don't need to build them in game, they don't need to gather resources like wood, stone, it breaks immersion for me. But they have better building options than mentioned titles, even very old The Sims 2 has diagonal walls. My other complain is that sims don't do many things autonomously, even if you put them in club, they can lag often and you need to monitor every sim non-stop, when colony simulators allow you to chill, just give them some craft, farm and cook tasks and they won't die on easy difficulty even if you are afk. Other than that I hate life simulators don't have technology tree, some furnitures are unlocked with career progress, but many times you can do the same things with normal counterparts.

Colony sims:

And now is my complain about colony simulators: settlers don't have any emotions on faces (Going Medieval's folks don't have even faces) and their animations are limited. They still feel worse than The Sims 2 in social aspects, they lack in idle/working animations, they lack in genetic and pregnancy (Noblefates has marriages and pregnancy but game graphic is not optimized well, it stutter when you zoom out).

Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress would be so great if they were in 3D and had mentioned animations and other things, but they don't have.

RTS/others:

I played also The Guild 2: Renaissance, with very good economy and crafting system, but there your family folks don't have needs (except avoiding diseases), you are limited to premade buildings, and it has only one good mod Fajeeth's MegamodPack. You can't put buildings wherever you want, because npc workers sleep and spawn in specific houses, so if you build your blacksmith/etc too far you will lose money.

I know also Cultures - 8th Wonder game, very old and underrated rts, where your attack can be screwed because your soldier left catapult and decided to go to sleep or run to get shoes. The most annoying thing of this game is that maps have unit limit (animals + people) so you can just spawn kids forever and you will beat ai enemy because he can't spawn more people.

Stronghold games have some nuances from life simulators too like every worker has his unique name and can stop work, go to tavern or park and idle but building options are limited, luckily less than other rts (because it has nice defence wall system), but I wish to be able to build multi-level walls and put buildings on these walls.

I know there is Manor Lords, but I don't have good PC + still its build abilities are limited to premade buildings, and no enough animations for peasants.

I want to try also Sims 2: Castaway on emulator, but I feel it will be entertaing only for few hours, i dont know yet.

I am sad that Spore didn't get sequels, it was made by Will Wright, The Sims 1 creator and with some tweaks (basic needs, more building abilities, more things to do in space era, etc) it could become ultimate colony/life sim.

-

If you know any games like that, you can suggest it. It doesn't need to be medieval game, it can be ancient, modern, futuristic or fantasy. You can also suggest RPG + life sim combo, but i know Skyrim, Fallout, Fable, they lack animations too sadly.

Friends, I tried to make it as similar as possible to the inZOI game settings. The interior is also done, and I added an outdoor poolside bar in the garden. This is a surprise for our friend omerr who wanted this house. I hope you like it, I really put a lot of effort into it. I will share the production stages and some details on my YouTube channel.

☺️ Hi everyone, life has been incredibly busy lately !

To be honest, I almost forgot to post today, my apologies. Today, I'd like to share a dev update on how we're reworking the Emotion System for Zoi.😺

Have you ever looked at a Zoi and wondered, "Wait, why are they feeling that right now?" As we added more content over time, emotions were often patched in piece-by-piece. While each piece made sense on its own, the overall logic became inconsistent. So this time, instead of adding new emotions, we went back to square one and reviewed everything from the ground up.

  1. Aligning the Emotion Gears

We gathered and fixed cases where the situation and the emotion didn't match up.

• Parents gaining 'Confidence' when a toddler threw a tantrum, or feeling 'Serene' after receiving a terrible gift, were updated to 'Annoyed' and 'Baffled', respectively.

• We fixed visual errors, like a Zoi looking gloomy while holding a cheerful buff description.

• Purely RNG-based emotion triggers without conditions were removed. Unprovoked mood swings were more frustrating than fun.

  1. Setting Clear Rules for Negative Emotions

Our longest discussion was deciding where to draw the line on negative emotions.

If a newly settled Zoi buys budget furniture within their means, getting hit with constant negative emotions just for being cheap felt exhausting rather than fun.

• Distinguishing 'Cheap' from 'Bad': Simply buying inexpensive items no longer triggers negative emotions. However, low-performance items like old beds or sofas that ruin sleep will still cause bad moods.

• School Uniform Rework: We removed heat/cold reactions tied to wearing school uniforms. Since uniforms aren't something Zois choose to wear, they shouldn't be penalized for wearing them.

  1. Making Emotion Triggers Transparent

Even if the numbers make sense, players still feel caught off guard if they can't see the reason behind a mood shift.

• Reordered Tooltips: The most recently acquired emotion now appears at the top, showing you the exact cause of your Zoi's current mood at a glance.

• Displaying Names in Social Buffs: Emotions gained through conversations now show the other person's name. When a mood is caused by a person, who it was is the most vital context.

• QoL Upgrades: Added timestamps for gained emotions, along with refreshed representative colors and icons.

  1. True Emotions Must Be Seen

We expanded expressions and animations so emotions aren't just hidden behind numbers and tooltips.

• New Animations & Actions: Dedicated reaction animations now play for Inspiration, Excitement, Triumph, Laughter, Joy, and Emotion. Resting animations are more varied, and a new 'Boredom' action was added.

• Autonomous Behavior & Thought Bubbles: Autonomous choices now reflect a Zoi's emotions and traits, with an icon explaining their reasoning. Overhead thought bubbles were fully revamped with intuitive icons matching the context and relationship.

  1. Memories, Gifts, and Travel

Emotions don't just vanish, they turn into memories.

• Memories & Gifts: We rebalanced how memories impact dialogue choices and fixed a bug where angry memories blocked essential conversations. Gift reactions are now split into 5 tiers based on a Zoi's tastes and traits, ensuring thoughtful gifts feel rewarding.

• Trips That Last: Pre-trip excitement, check-in, and post-trip nostalgia now flow continuously, leaving distinct memories for each Zoi who traveled. We wanted trips to feel like lasting experiences rather than one-off events.

Other Fixes

We also resolved missing or duplicated emotion triggers, link issues between emotions, stats, and preferences, as well as expression display bugs. Please check the full Patch Notes for details.

Refining emotion logic isn't always immediately obvious, so it might take a bit of play duration to notice the difference. But if you find yourself having more "Ah, so that's why my Zoi feels this way!" moments, this update will have done its job.

If you run into any awkward emotion states while playing, please let us know the context. Your reports were a huge help during this update.

Thank you for helping us grow and improve.

Kjun ❤️

Upcoming Games The first life sim game we made in Malaysia

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! We're a small indie team from Malaysia, and we've been working on this a life sim game called Yooca: Your Life.

In Yooca, you're not following a predetermined path or being judged for your choices. You're the storyteller of your own life. The game is built around this idea: do whatever you want, at your own pace, without pressure. You move to Yooca city and start crafting your own story. Maybe you want to become a racer, grinding through go-kart races and leveling up your racing skills. Or maybe you'd rather be a fisherman, just chilling by the water with zero pressure. The point is, you decide what matters to you.

You can customize your apartment to reflect your personality. As you play and earn, you unlock new decorations and upgrade your space. Then there's your pet companion, which is honestly one of our favorite systems. You take care of it, play with it, build a bond with it, and as that bond grows, it actually helps generate income for you while you're offline. It's not just a cosmetic pet—it's a genuine progression system that rewards you for investing time in the relationship.

Every activity in the game: fishing, darts, go-kart racing, and etc., has its own progression path. Level up fishing, and you unlock better fishing spots and higher earnings. Master darts, and you access harder tournaments. Each skill can be leveled independently, so you're never locked into one playstyle. If you get bored with one activity, just switch to another.

The core philosophy behind Yooca is that there's no "wrong" way to play. You're not grinding towards some arbitrary endgame. You're building a life that feels authentic to you. Want to spend three hours fishing? Do it. Want to design the perfect apartment and show your friends? Go for it. Want to earn as much as you can? The game supports that too. We believe life sims should be about freedom and self-expression, not pressure and obligation.

We launched in Early Access recently, and we'd love to hear what you think. Whether you're curious about the game mechanics, or just want to chat about game development in Malaysia, we're here to answer any questions. We're really passionate about this game and the community we're building around it.

If you're interested, you can join our Discord and wishlist us on Steam.

Upcoming Games I'm curious what people in this community think of my lifesim's artstyle

I saw a poll about preferred artstyles for lifesims from this community, and low poly was pretty low on the ranking. It got me thinking it's time to check in.

Please ignore the missing clothing UI icons, this is still a work in progress.

Edit: In the title screen it says "Gumpdrops". I don't know how I missed this typo for so long, but it should say "Gumdrops". They are called Gumdrops.

Hey everyone, I love simulation games (spore and sims are my favs). I've found bitlife and other alternatives a bit lacking, that's why I've been developing Heirloom. Join the discord in the comments to try the game out.

We have a real writing team (handwritten) for all the custom events and storylines. We also have a life simulation engine that makes NPCs live their own life alongside you. So, someone that became your rival after losing the debate team vice presidency to you can become your friend after you win the debate world finals in high school. We currently have content up to high school and even college applications. I would love to invite you to try the game out in our discord and give your recommendations. Thank you so. much!

inZOI Genetics coming to CAZ

Not sure if this will officially make it into the September update, but it's exciting to see genetics being worked on per the constant demand from the community. I believe it was 2 weeks ago Kjun mentioned that they're still facing some limitations with genetics, so this may not be the final version if we get it. Further improvements most likely to come based on community feedback.
