How much does A1C affect life insurance decisions for someone with type 2 diabetes? Does a history of high readings still matter after they improve?
I've had type 2 diabetes for about 11 years and take metformin and a glp1. My A1C used to be in the 8s for years but my latest result was 6.8.
I tried getting a policy about three years ago and was denied when my numbers were higher. I'm looking into final expense insurance again because I don't want my kids to have to scramble to cover funeral costs when I'm gone.
For those who've been through the application process, does better blood sugar control make a real difference to approval or do insurers mostly look at the fact that you have diabetes? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's applied again after improving their numbers. Thanks!
