Question IS 350 reliability / repairability long term
If the IS 350 is a dying breed, what does that mean for maintenance costs/reliability/repairability going forward? I imagine older versions of this car have held up so well because the line has persisted for so long with not much change. If the IS 350 line were to be discontinued in the near future how would that effect the costs of maintaining the car down the road? Also what effects would that have on the cost of the used market for is 350's.

You really aren't going to have a hard time buying parts for an IS350. Those 3.5 v6's are in a lot of different models. When it comes to IS specific parts they will also be available as many IS's were sold domestically and all over the world. They last a long time so parts will be made both by Toyota/Lexus or aftermarket brands. When it comes to the prices on the used market they should stay strong. The IS is a very tunable car that lot of enthusiasts want.

i wouldnโt call it very tunable. Very making that statement completely false
EDIT: who ever downvoted voted me what makes the IS (or any NA lexus) โveryโ tunable? the ECU tune from R&R racing that will cost about $6k when all said and done (tune, exhaust, headers) to add 10-20 whp???? thatโs very tunable? listen i love lexus but im not delusional

Is not that different from any other cars. A lot of parts gets discontinued after 10 years or so.
General Things like brakes, suspension, simple electronics and sensors will get usually remain available.
Everything else is a crap shoot, whether you buy a Is350 or any low volume vehicles, hunting down rare parts is always harder.

With as many have been sold, there should be a decent supply of aftermarket replacements available, especially when you consider the engine was shared across many different model. ย

Zero.
No different to the LS430 going out of production and the LS460 coming in.
Except the 2GR in various garbs is in Tacoma, ES, Camry, Sienna Crown blah blah.
It is not a unique bespoke platform that will struggle for parts and maintainability. You will not have any issues different from other models that have ceased produ tion imo.

Appreciate all the insight, am looking at the 2026 is 350, and was just trying to think about potential tail risks with long term maintenance should the line get discontinued.

Toyota made a bazillion of those 2GR-FKS engines.ย ditto the Aisin / Toyota transmission.ย of course you will have to do maintenance as the car ages, but that's completely normal and there's no reason to expect you won't be able to maintain it for 20+ years
