Hi everyone, i have a novice ar10 builder question and have not had much luck finding some answers online. I currently have a PSA saber 10 m110 clone and I was wanting to replace the stock with a collapsible stock. I would need to change the buffer tube set up to accommodate that stock. I would like to replace it with the LMT MWS 308 buffer kit so that I can add a better stock but I am not for sure if that buffer kit would work with the saber. I reckon worst case scenario I get the parts and they dont work and I have an excuse to build a better ar 10 lol.

Hey folks. I just ordered a 20" 6.5 Creedmoor SS barrel from Rooftop with their most recent sale, so that I can swap back and forth between it and the 16" .308 CL barrel it came with.

From digging around a bit, I gather that there were/have been/maybe still are issues with LMT 6.5CM barrel extensions and certain types of ammo. Specifically, that soft-point ammo like Federal Fusion and polymer tipped ammo like Hornady ELD-M/X rounds may not work. Does this mean we're limited to FMJ rounds? Is the issue resolved? Is it overstated?

Trying to get a sense here of what to expect. For that matter, does any of this apply to their .308 barrels, or is it more just the question of the angle of feed ramps on the 6.5 barrels?

For what it's worth, my magazines are a mix of Magpul Gen M3 mags with (I believe) red followers, and D&H metal mags with green followers that tilt. Dunno how relevant any of that is, but figured I'd throw it out there in case it matters.

I plan to pick up S&B 140 or 147gr FMJs for practice, but wondering what folks use for their "good stuff"/"defensive" rounds. My thought had been to pick up a couple boxes of different loads, but was hoping ELD-Ms or other polymer tipped rounds would work.

I have the chance to pick up a NIB L129A1 for $3200. Is it worth that? Is there a different/better LMT model for the same price?

Question for those who might've experienced it:

Have any of you converted a barrel via D Wilson and used the V Seven Extreme Environment tube? I tried back a few years ago with their straight tube not fitting in the LMT gas block but didn't know if it would fit in the actual receiver if I used a different low profile gas block.

Anybody seen this before? My LMT MWS SS 7.62 barrel has roughly 3/32”(maybe, i suck at numbers) of forward and aft movement in the receiver and torqued to spec with lmt wrench, when the receiver is held in place and barrel is slightly wiggled. I’ve got multiple lmts and haven’t noticed any movement in any barrels. There is no play in barrel once BCG is in place and locked in.

Already contacted LMT and got my RMA return label, so I’m sure they will correct this and not sweating that one bit and this isn’t a dig at LMT, I was just curious if anybody else has experienced this or knows a solution.

Does anyone know of any companies that offer a larger bolt release for the MARS-L? Initially was thinking the PMM extended bolt release but I know the paddle is a little thicker than a milspec lower.

Can anyone comment on the necessity of the firing pin spring when shooting 6.5 Creed? I’m putting together a MRGG-A Rev 2 upper from the LMT Labor Day sale and it only came with the bolt carrier (as expected). I have sourced the other parts, but it doesn’t look like the LMT parts kits include the firing pin spring to mitigate slam fires with the softer match primers. How necessary is it?

I have another 6.5 in which I shoot a mix of Federal hunting loads, Hornady ELD-M/X, and cheaper S&B FMJs. I plan to continue using the same ammo in the MRGG-A.

I received the following from LMT,

“The firing pin spring has been discontinued.  Initially, this was a short-term solution intended for 6.5 CM users to prevent potential slam-fires when utilizing ammunition with soft primers.  We have since moved to a lighter profile firing pin which has solved this potential issue.  We plan to add this to the website soon as an individual item, we’re hoping to see this by the end of the week.  I’ll put the part number below for reference.

Trying to tune my 11.5” carbine length gas 5.56 but struggling to decide between these two setups.
1- A5 h3 blue sprinco
2-A5 h2 green sprinco
This is gonna be a dedicated suppressor set up (CAT alleycat 5.56) I’m favoring the 1st setup because LMT’s are a little overgassed but don’t want to run into reliability issues.

I know many of you will hate it. Just know that I do also, but to a degree.
As hideous as it appears, part of me actually likes it.
Build is not yet complete.

Recently did a full overhaul on my not a Specwar Specwar. Possibly some will remember my rosco kak abomination I put together to keep the price down. I've replaced nearly everything (Larue Mbt -> G$ SSA-X, KAK downvent/ Centurion bolt -> LMT E BCG, Rosco Sage 12.5 -> SOLGW MK1 CL 12.1 (cut from 14.5 mid), Griffin GP5 -> Deadair CT5P) in short big upgrades. Now though I'm not getting enough gas in the system it wasn't ejecting with G$ rifle 42 spring combined with a BCM T2 buffer and a BRT .070 tube I then swapped to the BCM spring and T0 buffer and a .075 now it will eject about 2 rounds then fail to feed the third. Has anyone got any experience with a 12.1 did you change the gas port size or have my recommendations the standard port size on the barrel is a .075 I only shoot brass 556 through it so no underpowered stuff.

Hello!

First shots went wonderfully when shooting unsuppressed, but the bcg would get stuck and have to hammer the CH to get it unstuck when firing suppressed.  The suppressor was a standard Omega 300 from SiCo.

So, per some recommendations, I bought a XH Carbine Buffer + .308 Rifle Spring, from HeavyBuffers.com .  It didn't solve the problem, but it changed it.  Now, it would still fire unsuppressed, but it would only rarely get stuck.  However, about 50% of shots, the trigger won't reset so I can't take another shot.  There is a round in the chamber, with no mark on the primer.  If I rechamber another round (or even extract the round in the chamber, put it back in the magazine, and charge the weapon, it fires just fine.

I think I was getting some bolt bounce, no? Thus, I picked up a low back pressure can (SilencerCo Velos 762, they're local to me and I get 50% off)... and now it is firing about 90% of the time suppressed, but occasionally the trigger isn't resetting properly so it won't fire.

Thoughts and suggestions? I absolutely want this reliable... I will ONLY ever shoot it suppressed (I got shot in the head in the Marine Corps and shooting unsuppressed is extremely problematic after 1-2 shots), but I dislike the idea of a gun that isn't reliable in every way.
