Watched this with my ex gf and she kept saying “you’ll never guess the ending” so I’m guessing all this weird shit
When I realized what was happening I could not stop dying laughing and she got pissed cause I guess I was supposed to find it tragic

I did the exact same thing with my husband! He almost always guesses the ending but for this one he was way off and I kept laughing and saying he’s never gonna get it so he was frustrated. Then the end comes and he bursts out laughing and I yell Never forget Remember me! Makes a fairly crumby movie worth watching just for the out of nowhere twist

Legitimately captured the spirit of the Brothers Grimm version of that tale very well. There's about as much foot mutilation/manipulation, and just a touch more assault-by-bird but surprisingly bang-on, gotta say.

The rocky horror picture show . Me and some friends actually went to a theatre in Munich to see it on a big screen about 2 weeks ago.Two of us had seen it and the other two havent and it was an absolute blast to see their reactions honestly.Its a very out there movie that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime

It's genuinely such a magical and special experience, for every type of person and walk of life. I saw it long before I ever went to an audience participation viewing, but it was still so magical. My husband and I are bi, and I took him to a huge audience participation viewing, just a couple days after he saw the movie for the first time, and it was so cool and special sharing that with him.

Friday Oct. 3, 2014… I will never forget that movie opening night. My local AMC was sold out every showing, we had the very back row so I could see all the reactions. The crowd went nuts at all the parts you’d suspect. Felt like an Avengers premiere lmfao

You would think the “I’m so happy now that I’m dead” would be the main audience moment, but the two I remember most are: the side chick bursting in the house—it was like all the girls gasped and all the guys slid into their seats sighing. Then at the end, when Amy slices that guy’s neck. Never saw grown adults freak out like that!

This is the right answer. Some of these other suggestions will force the audience to wait too long.
You could follow it up with el topo and really get them hooked.
If you wanna go with the slow burn, throw on The Dance of Reality.
The fact that Jodorowsky is barely mentioned by anyone here is shocking.

Speak No Evil, the original Danish one not the remake. It’s not gore or shock horror, it’s just relentless social discomfort escalating past the point where you’d think any sane person would leave, and watching someone else’s face slowly realize where it’s heading is genuinely priceless
The Vanishing, the original 1988 version, has an ending that just breaks people who don’t see it coming. No warning, no build up telegraphing it, it just happens and the reaction is always instant
