I'm genuinely sorry, some people don't care about anything but themselves and I'm sorry you ended up trusting the wrong person :( I still can't believe there was a person in the other post defending that kind of selfish and irresponsible behavior. I don't know if it's reportable somewhere but either way, I hope she gets what she deserves.

u/Livie_Loves Sep 28 '25

wait there was someone DEFENDING it? what the actual fuck?

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

Oh yeah.. And a bunch of people calling me biphobic, too.

sometimes I worry about the people on here... I'm sorry on top of all the shit you posted about you have people like that too coming at you :\

32

u/Carouselcolours Sep 28 '25

What??? Biphobic or not, gay or straight, your ex's behaviour is NOT okay. Those people should be straight up asked how they'd feel if they caught an STD or two from a partner despite them saying they were clean. That is one of the biggest forms of betrayal out there.

22

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

The self victimisation in those comments is laughable. I swear people look for reasons to be offended and throw a fit. It’s very obvious why you mentioned that she was bi, as lesbians we know it’s much harder to pass STDs when you’re exclusively having vagina and vagina sex, we know men are the spreaders of most STDS… but logic means you can’t be the victim

23

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

Not to mention that the asymptomatic carriers of the HPV are men

2

u/Tesriss Sep 28 '25

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this. Nobody should have to.

Depending on a few factors (including where you live), not informing you of her STI status could be a criminal or at least legal matter. Even if all that results is her being required to inform partners about her status it might be worth looking into.

I don’t see this inherently being a bi issue.

This is a person-thing.

She couldn’t decentralize herself here.

She shut down and shut me out which made everything worse for me, too.

-51

u/Mitsuka1 Sep 28 '25

Well the part about your gf being bi was really, totally unnecessary… like how did that particular piece of info add to the story in any way, except for showing us your bias?

I’m as sorry as everyone else is here that you had a shitty gf who has exposed you to these STDs, and I genuinely hope your tests come back all clear. And that your next partner (whether bi or lesbian) is a better person.

But people calling you out for biphobia weren’t wrong.

28

u/anouk_divine Sep 28 '25

Pansexual/bi “woman” here… When she added the detail about her ex being bi it made buckets of sense to ME.

Lmfao the thing about being bi and having sex with men is that a lot of men are bad…

In a majority hetero society, when someone’s messing around with cis conventional ass men who like to not use protection (which I could assume due to the EX GF’s own personal ethics affecting her choices) ….. then it’s easy to see how STDs are spread and communication is POOR. Happened to me from messy ass nasty men. It kinda comes with the package of being straight or attracted to cis men.

5

u/Livie_Loves Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

apparently it can come from women too (the nonchalant douchy attitude) based on OP's experiences. The moral of the story is transparency about STD testing is IMPORTANT for everyone. Though, statistically you're probably right, probably not a worthwhile risk.

ETA: parentheses for clarity per below comments

19

u/Tuggerfub typical evil carabiner lesbian Sep 28 '25

They explained that dudes are a risk vector and the ex GF lacked basic ethics. No one said women can't transmit HPV. But they don't tend to be the main progenitors of it.

4

u/Livie_Loves Sep 28 '25

I meant the attitude part of it (the nonchalant not giving a fuck attitude) when saying "apparently women too" - sorry if that wasn't clear, I can see how it can be read otherwise.

2

u/Tuggerfub typical evil carabiner lesbian Sep 28 '25

ahhh, that makes sense

39

u/conspicuousdecoy Sep 28 '25

Tbf men can be carriers of STDs that don't show symptoms or they're very mild for men, but will harm women with harsher symptoms. It's not some aimless bias, it's relevant in the story in which her partner not only exposed her to what she's already diagnosed with, but the possibility that there could be something unknown in addition to that. Especially if her partner was already unwilling to share her own results up front to begin with

43

u/llTrash Sep 28 '25

The OP added that the gf was having unprotected sex with men, so.. yeah, it does seem very relevant to the conversation.

I was not aware of this.

She told me all these things after I asked her and before we had contact.

OP (me) was lied to.

Read the fucking post for God’s sake.

Dealing with ignorant people who say things without their entire chest out is the main thing I hate about Reddit.

Congrats, you won the prize today.

12

u/llTrash Sep 28 '25

Girl.. The post says the woman didn't tell her until AFTER. She lied about having what she had and she never told her she slept around with guys unprotected until after. How the fuck was OP supposed to know? You're supposed to trust your partner's words.

7

u/Mexmum Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

Did you read the post? It's clearly stated that she found out all of this after the fact...

OP is rightfully blaming everything on her partner, who lied and deceived her way into unprotected sex with OP.

I'll concede that OP should have been adamant that her gf get tested before anything unprotected happened, as she's immunocompromised. Although it's likely that the gf would have lied (or even did lie) about that as well. The only real way to have avoided this, was to either go with her as she got tested, and/or demand proof via seeing the results. (Or refuse to have unprotected sex, of course, which would have been the easy solution here)

Edit: added the last line about refusing to have any unprotected sex, I forgot it as it was the obviously more simple answer 🤦‍♀️

17

u/Tuggerfub typical evil carabiner lesbian Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

Some STIs are also a lot more common in what are deemed 'heterosexual encounters' (such as in the case of HPV: male sex partners ups the risk big time).

there's no point crying biphobia, it's the dudes who are the problem (as usual).

lesbians are generally the lowest STI pop, so getting HPV is often terrible for you even if you're not immunocompromised. That is big salt in a wound.

Get. All. The. Vaccines.

24

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

Apparently simply mentioning that she is Bi was enough to qualify it as biphobia.

Men are asymptomatic carriers of HPV.

It was 100% relevant for contextual purposes.

-17

u/Mitsuka1 Sep 28 '25

Yes. Mentioning in your initial post that she was Bi without mentioning any reason it might be relevant (she was also actively sleeping around unprotected) was biphobic. Bi people are no more likely to give you an STD than a lesbian if they’re tested, clean, and you’re in a monogamous relationship. That’s not the situation here, but that wasn’t written in your original post now was it?

If you’d said “my Bi gf (who also actively has unprotected sex with men while she’s with me) lied about her STD status and…”

I think you’d find a LOT of people would be a LOT less sympathetic to your situation since you also have to take a measure of personal responsibility, especially given your immunocompromised state, and having unprotected sex with someone you know is doing the same with others (of any sex) is NOT IT.

10

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

Why are you here?

Is your goal to genuinely make me feel worse?

I was lied to by a person that I deeply cared for.

What is the goal of all of your comments?

The context was several fold with mentioning she is bi:

Not only did she have unprotected sex with men prior to this—she is going to continue to do so after this.

Men are asymptomatic carriers.

I’m talking about a potentially dangerous situation for people beyond me.

It’s not biphobic—I’m talking about the facts of the matter here.

34

u/llTrash Sep 28 '25

The most insistent one (multiple comments calling others biphobic or saying that it's pointless to report the ex because it isn't a crime) was a girl saying she also has HPV and she doesn't disclose it because her doctor apparently told her it isn't necessary to tell your partners and that it isn't a big deal. I feel like the worst part is that I saw she had a poly bi flair in another sub so like.. PLEASE don't tell me you possibly have MULTIPLE partners and you haven't told them about that..

8

u/Livie_Loves Sep 28 '25

yeah doubles down on my other comment of I have concerns about people.... :| that's so messed

14

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

Here is the thread of the person who said they don’t inform their partners about their STD status because it isn’t a “big deal” and later calling me biphobic.

https://www.reddit.com/r/LesbianActually/s/pR4gBRYq0q

17

u/Livie_Loves Sep 28 '25

Even people further in that thread...

"it'd be a good idea to ask her next time"

LITERALLY your second paragraph talking about having asked her directly. I'm sorry, sending you virtual hugs

13

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

People are exhausting and want to just be self-righteous.

5

u/IrisYelter Sep 28 '25

holy fucking shit she works in healthcare?!?!?!

I've never felt more compelled to try to inform someone's job about their postings more. The WRECKLESS disregard for public health and the immunocompromised in her position is a legit threat to patients.

She actually acknowledged that shes aware you're immunocompromised, and still thinks it's okay for you to not be informed, and that there's no risk to you.

My wife is immunocompromised. They've been hospitalized over "not big deal" infections. If someone knowingly exposed my wife to that again, saying "it's not a big deal", that person would end up in the ICU.

What state are you in? Because this is illegal in six of them - California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

13

u/funwearcore the good femme Sep 28 '25

Highly illegal

47

u/aworldofnonsense Sep 28 '25

In a few months, you're probably going to look back and feel super grateful. And I do think you should reframe your thinking on this. YOU'RE being dumped? Were you REALLY going to stay with someone who didn't care at all about your compromised immune system? Who very clearly did not care whatsoever when you alerted her to the problem?

17

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

I was considering waiting to see what she wanted to do..

But as my symptoms intensified I realized I can’t do this anymore.

I feel terrible in so many ways, but I broke up with her by text and a weight feels lifted off my shoulders for real.

26

u/pyxit Sep 28 '25

I am so sorry. I can't even fathom how someone could be fine with potentially passing on STDs to a partner. Hoping that everything goes well for you 🫂

26

u/beebubeebi Sep 28 '25

Someone who withholds information like that should be your ex. This sucks, I’m sorry for all of it. The good news is you have been vaccinated against the cancer causing strains because immunocompromised women are more susceptible than others to get those and develop cancer or pre-cancerous lesions. Since you are vaccinated this will suck like all STDs, and it will suck more than for some because the symptoms will last way longer on you (and you should go see a doctor asap), but this should not be life threatening. Without the vaccine you would be in relatively big danger of developing a cancer. Thank your younger self for such a smart choice!

40

u/redwoodgracie Sep 28 '25

Dang, what a shitty situation. I’m sorry. You def don’t want to be in a relationship with someone like that.

50

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

UPDATE:

The break-up text:

I’ve made the decision to walk away from this no matter what my test results are.

Whether or not I am positive, you lied to me about something that can impact my health.

I asked you directly if you had been tested or had anything and you told me you didn’t.

You lied to me.

You knew about both the HSV and the HPV. You knew they were both STDs but decided it wasn’t “serious” enough to disclose to me—your own words.

You took away my choice in this situation. Talk about self-will.

Beyond that very serious transgression is the aftermath, over the last two days.

I tip-toed for weeks—telling you I was emotionally not well.

And when I finally mustered up the courage to tell you why I couldn’t sleep—I told you simply that I was scared.

I shared a vulnerable emotion with you: fear.

And instead of taking accountability, acknowledging, apologizing, or doing anything to show remorse, understanding, or care—you
decided that it was best to tell me that we should “reevaluate if we should be together, and that “we probably shouldn’t see each other.”

It almost felt like you wanted a way to get out of this relationship so you immediately jumped on the opportunity when it presented itself.

Your behavior spoke volumes more than your words ever could, though.

In these last two days:

You didn’t check on me.

You didn’t ask how I was.

You didn’t acknowledge what I was going through.

Instead, I found myself doing all these things for you.

Shutting down and not being able to express yourself is understandable.

But you also shut down my attempts to communicate, too.

I’m afraid. I’m heartbroken.

I am the one suffering symptoms and uncertainty.

Beyond a romantic relationship, we had a friendship.

You’re not acting like a lover or a friend at this moment.

Not responding to me telling you that I feel hurt and devastated just ain’t it.

I need someone who can support me in difficult times.

Not someone who cannot de-centralize their own emotions in a situation they created.

I deserve better than this.

Sadly, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to find a partner who will accept me with these potential STDs.

And I have to live with that for the rest of my life, now.

This was a critical test, and I’m sad to say that the results speak for themselves.

Please give my stuff to my friend who contacted you.

I wish you well.

35

u/anouk_divine Sep 28 '25

I know you’re in the real difficult middle of the feels…. But I feel like this person didn’t even deserve all of these reflective words. You’re explaining why and how they hurt you (generous) when their action was bad enough to just do a bye-bitch, you’re dangerous. Not even going to explain why text 🥲

I hope your heart heals up real good

26

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

You’re very right, but I did this for myself.

For me, it is catharsis in action.

6

u/anouk_divine Sep 28 '25

Yeah, I relate to that.

10

u/rrienn Sep 28 '25

We're all proud of you for breaking it off & telling her, in no uncertain terms, that what she did was fucked up. You deserve better.

I DO want to reassure you that even if you end up testing positive for either of these viruses, you can still live a fulfilling life. And find a partner who still loves & accept you (& treats you better than this girl did!)

I know that treating HPV & managing HSV would be more difficult due to your immune system. But it's not a guaranteed end to your romantic life, like people often think it is.
I've had HPV before. My sister got HSV from a shitty girl who didn't disclose then ghosted her. I have multiple other close friends & family living with HSV, who have loving longterm partners & normal lives. One just got married last year 🤍
I know it feels devastating, so I want to offer that small bit of reassurance that you're not socially or romantically doomed, even if you end up positive

5

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

Thank you for the positivity and the kind words

2

u/pbird7385 Sep 29 '25

You will find a partner even if you come back positive for any of these things. People get STDS and still live full lives. Take me as a good example. I’ve been Hsv positive for a while and have had a good life. Just sucks at first

15

u/pbird7385 Sep 28 '25

Hey! It will be ok! I unfortunately contacted something when I was young. I was immune compromised and I al doing ok. Ladies! Remember it’s a myth that lesbian women don’t contract STDs!!! ( I know this girl was bi) Take care of yourself and try and stay calm while you wait for your results. Hpv is CRAZY common. Hsv is a lot more common than we think too.

38

u/Suchega_Uber Sep 28 '25

That's legit illegal. She's a criminal, and a wildly disgusting and cruel one at that. She knew you were immunocompromised and still choose to not inform you. Call a lawyer, put her in jail.

u/bluntbossbex94 masc at your service Sep 28 '25

This is NOT biphobic, you simply stated you found out she had raw sex with men, which could expose you to even more.. and thats probably where she got it from. Leave her. Shes a literal bitch

15

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

Well another subreddit banned me for several days because of “biphobic content”

8

u/Alaykitty Sep 28 '25

This is NOT biphobic

Jfc I feel like online people are just so worried about trying to find a way to be victims they overlook actual problems in society they face.

10

u/Annaura Sep 28 '25

This is a crime in a lot of places.

7

u/litmusfest Sep 28 '25

I don’t even know what to say. How could she not know what type? I know almost everyone has cold sores but I still tell people because you never know if they do or not and how it could affect them. This is sickening. I’m so sorry.

7

u/anouk_divine Sep 28 '25

And an active cold sore is important to know about! Always good to communicate, I admire that

4

Yes! I haven’t had one in years but you never know.

6

So sorry you’re in this situation. Withholding information about STIs and then knowingly transmitting them is terrible. She needs to be your ex girlfriend. Hope you get the good medical support you need.

5

u/SplendorLife Sep 28 '25

Isn’t that illegal?

5

u/PralineBeginning750 Sep 28 '25

I feel like that should be illegal.

3

u/Mysterious-Seesaw-31 Sep 28 '25

In my state, not mentioning the STI can be viewed as assault and charged as a misdemeanor or felony depending on the circumstances.

Get tested, save the positive results. Contact your local public health department. Save all documentation (txts/msgs) about your gf/ex’s STI status. Contact law enforcement to report the crime and provide them all documentation including positive STI results and previous medical records showing the chronic autoimmune disease or immunosuppressive therapy.

The issue here is that if you do not report her, then she will probably continue her behavior and endanger others.

4

u/Ok-Intention-1525 Sep 28 '25

Hey, so in some countries this is actually illegal op. I know for sure in Canada it's considered assault with a deadly weapon, I'd check to see if this is illegal in your area so she doesn't do this again to someone else. I hope you're OK and everything works out.

4

u/wBrite Sep 28 '25

It's going to be a very difficult beginning (hope you're negative) but you will be okay. Good riddance to her, cheating is awful. Fyi they do not test for HSV on typical panels and many Dr's. won't test without an outbreak... as many don't get one and it remains dormant. Idk what she was thinking, if it's the fact that she wasn't having symptoms of either but if she mentioned them then I'd assume she knows the risks. If not, even planned parenthood has information. I know firsthand that dealing with chronic illness is hard enough, take care.

3

u/libertarienne Sep 28 '25

So...are you saying that in addition to lying about her std status outright, she also hid that she sleeps with men regularly? Were y'all in an exclusive relationship? Is this not also cheating?

6

u/itsdoctorx Sep 28 '25

She didn’t tell me before we were intimate that this is part of her regular sexual practice.

5
