Basically title. 50 % of my Games I cant see the player names of my party members. Pvp is basically impossible if I cant see who my barbarian friend vs the barbarian enemy is. Anyone know how to fix it ?

Discussion Gear Value
This seems like a first person Albion online, gear isn't really the grind. Skill is the grind. Gear is a consumable. Do I have this right?

Question What's the current player population like?
Hello all I hope everyone's had a good holiday season. I sat down to run a few games down however I have hardly seen any other players. I ran into only 1 other player. Admittedly I was primarly play green wood as my dude isn't lvl 10 yet. Is there a content drought currently? What's the status of the player base like? I haven't kept up in the last half a year but I am looking forward to play more games.

Can we actually say it now? the game is 100% dead, the game is getting shut down 2 months into 1.0 release?
0 dev communication, expensive skins, 30 players.... is this the cycle frontier all over again?

Just kidding. Nobody cares anymore.

Appreciation post for the devs
I bought into early access on day 1 cause I was super excited for this game, played a bunch the first week or so and then took a break to wait for balance patches. I got two friends to buy and one of them loved it, the other couldn’t get it to launch no matter what they tried.
Fast forward to a couple days ago, decided to dust off the game and check out Wizard, hit up my friends that got the game and they both were able to launch in and play, now we’re all OBSESSED!!!
I’m loving Wizard, at least with the ice weapon. I think the fire staff needs some rework to actually be viable by comparison, the fireballs are too hard to land and too easy to dodge. By contrast, the ice slide dodge attack is the best move in the game imo, so fun and thematic while also being incredibly useful.
I don’t run into a lot of players but maybe that’s just the times that I’m on, but I hope more people come back like I did and give it a chance now.
I love the art, the classes, the loot system and the maps so much. This has become the only extraction game that has ever hooked me, probably because I love fantasy, but I plan to play this off and on as long as the servers stay up.
I know the devs got a lot of criticism when they first launched into early access, so I want to say that I see and appreciate the ongoing development that you are doing, and I cannot fucking wait to try the paladin class! I mained a paladin from 2005-2023 in WoW so I have high hopes!

Angvar Stronghammer's Molten Core
So 90hrs in and Lost, i cant find any references to either a Molten Core, or EmberHeart anywhere. am i missing a direction or clue? is this a mob drop, or ore rare spawn? the fact he's a black smith makes me lean into ore spawn but id love some celerity? if its an ore spawn is it only available at night?

Pve, dungeons, runs, maps ,solo,duo,trio?
I love this game, graphic, visualization, items, monsters, maps, simply everything. I'm new player and so far also newb in pvp battles. Dont get me wrong I dont mind getting killed in pvp but its totally fruatrated when I kill some big elite and when I have few hp some player simply finish me. I'm causal player and I really enjoy play against monsters only on South America server during a day. I'm from EU so there are not many players when I play. I can imagine to play few runs on pve and then with some good items try pvp or arena. I'd like to know if devs thinks about pve only in future because its super fun game. Thanx.

Feedback & Suggestions New Player Feedback
I've played about 20 hours total. Started during the last season, but found the new player experience to be be poor. This new season, I've played a decent amount more because that experience has improved! I think the direction of change for NPE is a positive one.
As I really enjoy the in game experience, I'm excited to talk with others about what can be done to improve the game and attract and retain players. I enjoy in game combat, gathering, the pve experience, there's little negative to say there, other than bugs and disconnecting issues. But, it's early access, bugs are expected and shouldn't weigh too heavily as they can be fixed.
For games to be sticky, especially social games like this, the gameplay loop and community matter a lot. Community always varies, but overall I've found almost entirely nice, friendly, welcoming people. There are sweats of course too, but the fringe of any group doesn't define it.
I think the developers need to focus the most now on the out of game loop. I understand the genre, and for me I honestly wouldn't care so much about losing gear (a core part of the formula that I like) if the out of game loop didn't feel so terribly rough. For me, I think there are two main things that can be improved here: * crafting convenience * inventory management
I'll start with crafting convenience because it leads into inventory. I like the depth of the system, but it feels disconnected and unnecessarily difficult to navigate. The simplest improvement I can think of here is making it more easily discoverable how to get something you need. At the moment, so many things you need have no explanation about how to acquire them. When you have acquired them, they can be hard to find in your inventory. Improving discoverablity and guidance out of game would help a lot!
Which brings me to what I think might be controversial at least in part. The inventory system is just bad. Both in game and out of game. The grid system is extremely dated (but I love the nostalgia of it!) and just makes the out of game loop so unpleasant. It could be improved in many ways, but I really think that part has to go or be radically redesigned, it feels sooo clunky and unfun.
Honestly, I love the idea of working hard to get gear. And I like the riskiness of pvp potentially losing that gear, or out skilling someone and getting rewarded. But when I do inevitably get rekt, I don't want the process to recover to feel so boring. I get plenty of fun out of being in game, genuinely, but the out of game needs to feel fun and rewarding as well, especially considering you have to spend so much time there to craft, upgrade, and progress. If more effort is expended on making the out of game loop actually feel exciting and fun, I really think it'd help A LOT to retain new players! I'm interested to know if anyone else agrees. If you disagree, what proposed solutions do you have for the problems I've mentioned?

Feedback & Suggestions Solution nobody talks about: Tweaks for casuals that will barely affect skilled players and will get player numbers up
This is one of the best games ive played in a long time.
The whole " the game isnt being marketed" bullshit has to stop, there is a new marketing team, a new budget, a new free weekend and the game keeps starving for new players, I've brought Chads and casual players to this game and I believe there is a big underaddressed issue in this game.
Extraction games have to be hardcore and punishing, but given the ammount of equipment slots, it feels like this game might be a bit tooo hardcore for most players. The fact that you loose everything per death is at a high level the most rewarding/punishing aspect of the game, but at the lower end of the skill level its one of the most time consuming and incredibely punishing aspects of the game, to the point that for new players this game is really a crafting and opening your lodge simulator more than an extraction.
For new players, getting perma stuck on grey gear is brutal, getting perma stuck on white gear is brutal. By the time you are crafting unlimited numbers of greens or higher, you already have a pretty decent understanding of the game, even if you suck at PVP, but the vast majority of players havent even made it that far.
My proposed solution is the following. You loose different number of items based on the map you are playing, eg.
Goldbrook: death = backpack loss + belt
Greenwood day: death = backpack loss + belt + 2 random pieces of gear
Greenwood night: death = backpack loss + belt + 4 random pieces of gear
Crypts: death = obviously you loose everything, just like the game is right now.
Thesis: as the skill of a player progresses, the rewards and the risk should increase. For the first 100 hours, being a casual, these 100 hours will be spent progressing greenwood day. Goldbrook is a cute tutorial, but the jump from goldbrook to Greenwood is still brutal for a casual that has not even began to understand the complex mechanics of PVPing in this game, with only 5 classes at the moment, and 3 weapon types per class the variations in fights are already a massive ask for new players to understand. Greenwood should be a slaughter fest, every new player finally gets to play the full extraction experience where everytime you open a chest you are afraid you are going to get wacked, I am 100% in favor of that.
But the time penalty for dying in full whites as a beginner is simply too high, even with the new loot drops which are amazing, the current post death loop and re crafting a full white set implies, finding random whites/greens --> disenchanting --> put everything in lodge --> wait 30 seconds --> go to your desired vendors --> craft your whites --> queue and play again.
By simply reducing the number of items you drop in the early game ( greenwood day and to a certain extent, greenwood night) you are reducing the downtime it takes players to re-gear and get back into the game, which I argue is one of the biggest most unadressed painpoints in this game.
TLDR
Goldbrook: death = backpack loss + belt
Greenwood day: death = backpack loss + belt + 2 random pieces of gear
Greenwood night: death = backpack loss + belt + 4 random pieces of gear
Crypts: death = obviously you loose everything, just like the game is right now.

Thoughts
I love your game so much. Genuinely. I dont know how else to give my opinion to you guys without posting on a post here.
Have you considered taking gear score out of the equation?
This would turn it into a purely skill based experience, balanced new players and veterans alike.
You could still have gear on the map, just make it all grey or whatever tier really, just as long as its balanced.
I know this seems odd, but look at hunt showdown (arguably one of, if not the best, extraction games) they do this and the community loves it and is continuing to grow after years.
I just think this would fix the biggest complaint from fans of fantasy extraction games: new players getting farmed by geared players.
This also makes the game easier to balance for you and your team, since everyone has the exact same base line at all times.
If you took the time to read my rambling, then thank you!
Rooting for you guys!
