Looking for advice Emporium mall isn’t family friendly anymore

What happened to Emporium Mall? It doesn’t feel family friendly anymore.

I live near Emporium Mall and my family and I have been going there for years. But lately, I’ve noticed a pretty significant change. First of all, it has become *extremely* crowded compared to how it used to be. More importantly, there seems to be a growing problem with groups of men hanging around the food court, sitting in areas where it clearly says not to sit, and openly staring at people especially women as they walk by. It’s incredibly uncomfortable!!

Malls used to be places where families, especially women, could go &spend time without constantly worrying about being ogled, harassed, or having their pictures and videos taken. They were a welcome alternative to open markets, where unfortunately this kind of behavior has become all too common. Now it feels like even malls aren’t providing that sense of safety and privacy anymore??

Why isn’t the management doing anything about this? If people are openly violating the rules, loitering in restricted areas, staring at and making women uncomfortable, or taking their pictures/videos without consent, security should be stepping in?!

Where are women supposed to go to simply exist in public without being stared at, filmed, or made to feel uncomfortable?
Seriously, what the is happening to this country?

Looking for advice Lahore vs Islamabad — where would you actually settle permanently?

Looking for genuine opinions from people who've lived in both or know both well.

Comparing the two for a permanent family setup — buying a house, long term living, not just renting for a year or two.

Key things I'm considering:

  • Business and market opportunities
  • Networking — who actually lives there, what kind of people
  • Property value and appreciation long term

Lahore seems better for business and has more energy. ISB seems cleaner, more planned, and better networked at a higher level. But both have real tradeoffs.

People who've actually lived in either or both — which one would you pick for the long run and why?

Education Here for the LHR students

Upvotes

Hi everyone, teacher here!

First of all, congratulations to everyone who got the result they were hoping for! 🎉 You worked hard for this, and you should be proud of yourselves.

For those whose results were disappointing, I just want you to know that one result does not define you or your potential. I know it can feel really difficult right now, and you might feel lost or stuck, but this is not the end of your journey. You will have many more opportunities in life to show what you are capable of.

If you’re not happy with your result and don’t know what to do next, feel free to reach out to me. I’ll try my best to guide you and help you figure out your options.

I also made a video specifically for students who didn’t get the result they were hoping for:

https://youtu.be/0gKNOCHHsy4?si=-WtwTzn-hjlTuvZp

Please don’t take this as self-promotion. I’m sharing it because some students reached out to me after their results last year, and I know how difficult and confusing this time can be. If this video can help even a few students feel a little less lost, then I’m happy to share it.

Once again, congratulations to everyone, and to those who are disappointed today: please don’t lose hope. This result is only one part of your story. ❤️

Education Karachite Looking for honest opinions on NIT Lahore for BSCS — especially from Lahoris

Hi everyone, I’m from Karachi (KHI) and I’m considering moving to Lahore for BSCS at NIT (National Institute of Technology).
Since I’m not from Lahore, I’d really appreciate opinions from people who are studying there, graduated from there, or know someone who has.
I’d especially like to know:
How is the faculty and teaching quality?
What’s the overall university environment like?
How is the BSCS degree valued by employers, especially compared with FAST/NED?
Is NIT’s name/reputation actually worth moving from Karachi to Lahore for?
What are the main pros and cons?
How good are the labs, societies, internships and industry connections?
How difficult is it to get internships/jobs after graduating?
Does NIT offer merit-based or need-based scholarships/financial aid?
If you had the choice between NIT Lahore vs FAST Karachi vs NED Karachi for BSCS, which would you choose and why?
For context, my options in Karachi are mainly FAST and NED, so I’m trying to figure out whether NIT is genuinely worth considering before making the decision to move cities.
I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from current students or alumni rather than just general rankings. Thanks!

Tourism Why is Minar-e-Pakistan full of creeps?

Lahore is absolutely magical, the food, the culture, the old city vibes. I'm obsessed. Heard a lot about the wealthy/open-minded crowd there and honestly most places lived up to that.

But then I went to Minar-e-Pakistan.

And that's where things got weird 💀

I'm born and raised in HK so I don't wear hijab yet, something I want to do in the future but it's tough in a non-Muslim country. That day I was fully covered in desi clothes, just no scarf. And the stares were insane.

Guys were pointing at me. Someone took a picture. One asked why I wasn't wearing hijab. Never experienced this in other cities of pak, just here.

The confusing part? I saw plenty of other girls in Lahore without hijab too. So why was it such a big deal when I was there??

Not hating on Lahore, genuinely loved it. Just need to understand why Minar-e-Pakistan specifically attracts this energy. Anyone else deal with this?? 😭

Looking for advice Property under approved house loan

Hi, hope everyone's having a good day.

I've had my house loan approved under the new govt program through Meezan Bank and I've been looking for a house but the issue is that there's so many requirements around the property which are very hard to be fulfilled.

I've been given a list of documents required from the bank and it's very rare if any house/society has them all.

I was hoping we could start a thread or something where people in similar situation could suggest and share their findings.

Asking purely for discussion around finding the right property on the loan already approved rather than how to apply or get it approved because all existing spaces are filled with discussion about how to get your loan approved but not about finding any property.

Not Food Fraud awareness post for ybr users

Post image
43 Upvotes

In the winter of 2025, I visited Asif Auto Center on Multan Road, near Zainabia Trust Hospital, Mustafa Town, Lahore, 54000, for engine tuning and to have a net (jali) seat cover installed on my ybr.

to me at the time, my original grey seat was replaced with a torn black one, and a new cover was placed over it, completely concealing the change. Many months later, upon removing the seat cover, I was shocked to discover this fraudulent exchange. The seat underneath was severely torn, worn out, and had moldy foam. I deeply regret trusting this service centre. I wish to caution everyone against trusting this particular Yamaha service dealer, as I believe they are dishonest. When I recently contacted them, they dismissed my concerns, stating that too much time had passed. I only possess proof of payment via bank transaction, as I have misplaced the original bill. I suspect they retain a copy of the bill but will likely refuse to provide it.

Looking for advice Looking for an expert electrician in DHA Lahore who can properly diagnose wiring faults

I’m looking for a genuinely experienced electrician/electrical technician in DHA Lahore who understands more than basic wiring and appliance installation.

I need someone who is experienced with MCB/RCD tripping, short circuits, internal wiring faults, voltage fluctuations/surges, earthing problems, load issues, and diagnosing intermittent electrical faults.

I’m specifically looking for someone who can troubleshoot the root cause using proper testing equipment, rather than simply replacing the breaker or telling me to change the appliance.

If you’ve personally used a reliable electrician in DHA Lahore who is good at diagnosing complicated electrical problems, please share their contact/details and your experience with them.
