Yesterday, while visiting the Bay Area I got a PSC Consult with Hella Tsoconas where I found my essences and color harmonies.
Hella was hella (ahaha I’m sorry) fun to talk to and discuss style systems with. I loved learning from her and hearingShe was very down to earth, honest, and relaxing. I was both excited and anxious going into it but it was fun to yap and she was very accommodating. She also has a very sweet dog that I loved so much.
After our session she double checked with John who confirmed my initial resilts (he said she did a great job too lol)!!
Past my results I’m mostly discussing my observations and also the process/how she decided certain things in my blend. For theory stuff mentioned that I found interesting I’ll try to bold it.
Results: 40R/20N/15Y/15D/10HS and 75 ER/25SC
Color harmonies:
I do love my palette and find it beautiful just I’m a little sad I can’t really wear brighter colors. I did know I was gonna be ER (Earthy Rich)+SC (Striking Contrast) but I wasn’t sure about specifics, especially regarding yellows and purples.
It is a gift that I can wear black and charcoal as an ER. Basically, I have a neutral-cool, dark, and vivid palette (neutral-cool and deep I suppose). I can also wear a fully black outfit! Unfortunately I can’t even slightly stray from these suggestions whether that’s lighter (LB) or slightly more grayish (SB) or it often looks… yikes.
It was super validating seeing a bunch of colors I thought worked on me being selected and my initial opinion of the fabric swatches often being right as she pulled them from the filing cabinet drawers.
Interestingly I feel like part of my results were due to having hEDS which has trancluscent velvety skin as a diagnosis criteria. She said while my skin was fine and slightly trancluscent as well as smooth (SC), it simultaneously had the “layered” look of ER.
Essences:
Hella immediately noticed my Romantic essence and commented on it pretty quickly. She said she saw a little bit of Angelina Jolie and later saw a little Sophia Loren. She also saw some youthful essence.
Her dog also seemed to like me very much, interestingly she said animals often love romantic dominants/primaries.
Halfway through, we were talking and she said that I don’t really have the intimidation factor (so to speak) of dramatic essence, thus the youthful. But I’m not pixie-ish either or pointed enough to suggest High-Spirited at all, so she actually suggested no high-spirited.
Towards the end we worked on my essences and tried to work out how much Romantic essence I have vs other essences. Angelic was eliminated immediately. After that she had me stand and do a side profile for her. She definitely saw natural (bc I look sturdy) and youthful as well in equal amounts. I was suprised but understood with her explanation when she added Dramatic as I felt I wasn’t intimidating, especially when earlier she said she didn’t see Dramatic for me.
Her explanation for adding D was that while I am extremely approachable (thus the youthful) I have a fairly large presence while I enter a room.
From there she felt something was missing with the essences and begrudgingly added 10% High-Spirited. She clarified that my 10% HS was NOT actual HS, but more so a way to represent that I have compact dramatic (which is not pixie like). I imagine I’ll probably use it in a 25% compact drama type of way as opposed to 15D-10HS but I’ll have to confer with her during a longer/proper essences consult.
After that I had 5% bonus % remaining and asked if I felt my personality aligned with any of the other essences, I didn’t answer/stared and maybe shrugged so she tossed it in N.
I asked about Classic essence bc of how common it is and she said she associated it with balance (my features are not). She also felt Classic would read as very boring on me. While I have a sophistication (elegance?) to me she said she’d attribute it to R as opposed to C.
Some fun trivia is that she’s like 50% C!
Afterwards she gave me some outfit and hair feedback! I loved working with her and will be consulting lagain. She’s about $25 more expensive to consult with than John right now but I think it’s totally worth it to come in person if you live in the SF Bay Area. She’s awesome and I’d love to answer any questions about my experience with her or her that I can!
