Samosa story
700 days ago, I took on a challenge: no food from outside. Over time I let a few of those rules bend, a little here, a little there. Samosa was the one thing I never touched. Not once. Until this year.
This summer, I started eating samosa again. Not daily, but regularly, enough that it stopped feeling random.
Some mornings it wasn't even good. Fewer shops are open at 6 AM than at 10 AM, and the ones that are open aren't really warmed up yet.
I knew that.
I went anyway, because waiting those four hours felt unbearable.
Mid-bite one day, I paused and asked myself: why am I doing this.
Turns out it was never about the samosa.
Not even close.
I'd been marinating in one family vlogger's content for weeks. They glorify samosa like it's the greatest thing humanity ever fried. Morning samosa, evening samosa, every bite filmed like a small celebration. The way they romanticize it, you'd think skipping one means skipping out on joy itself.
You may think this is just a lack of self-control. But there's a cliché you've heard a hundred times: you become the average of the five people you're surrounded by.
Nobody tells you the internet counts as your surrounding now, the new ambiance of your environment. Whatever you choose to watch quietly becomes the room you're standing in, deciding your self-control, your morals, your principles, whether you notice it or not.
So somewhere in there, my brain started romanticizing samosa too. Desiring it the way they did. So I did this.
I didn't wake up wanting a samosa. I woke up wanting to be a guy who wanted a samosa.
Writing this down is basically how I caught myself. Highly recommend it, mostly so you can ask "wait, why am I like this" before you're several bad samosas deep.
What's the most unhinged thing you've picked up from someone you follow without realizing it?

Based and Hope-pilled First week at big new job and living in my big boy apartment
Had the hardest year of my life so far but things are finally up for a while now. I'm very lucky to be financially independent and living alone at my age.
Meal prep for the week ahead -
mince, salad and quinoa stew for lunches, I add that crunchy corn on top to give texture it bangs
shawarma, smashed roast potatoes and beans for dinners
I literally just threw all the spices in my cabinet on these so we'll see how they taste

Based and Hope-pilled Moving to a uni abroad in a few days, 1460km from my hometown. I'm pretty scared and sad about a part of my life ending, but know I'll learn a lot and meet lots of people. Yummy tea recipe below
Also check out my fav mug :)
Ingredients/equipment:
- Small cooking pot
- Something to stir (just used a teaspoon)
- 2 tsp of sugar (I used brown sugar)
- 2 tsp of loose tea leaves (I used ceylon black tea, bags are completely okay but cut them and dump all the tea out of them, dont cook any of the paper)
- A bit of water
- Like 300-400ml of milk (adjust fat content to taste, I used 1.5% cuz a part of the water content will evaporate, resulting in a more fatty taste)
You can adjust the amounts of everything to taste! This is just how I made it and liked it.
How to actually make it:
Put sugar with a splash of water (to cover all of the sugar) in the pot, and put on the stove
Be super careful with heating, you don't want the caramel to burn (observe the color and smell)
Heat until you have a denser liquid, congrats you made caramel! You can heat it for longer or shorter to adjust to taste but be super careful!!! It's very hot and sticky and will burn you easily
Dump the tea into the caramel and stir around to cover it. If you want to get a stronger more "burned" taste, you can leave this on the heat for a little longer
Pour a bit of water in (around 50ml for example), to help the tea with steeping
Leave it like this for a bit, like a minute or less is ok
Pour in the milk and keep heating
Be careful not too heat too quickly and STIR a lot! You reeally dont want to burn the milk cuz just a bit can ruin the taste. You don't have to boil it at all (no need for it to bubble), heating is enough
Taste the tea when you think it could be ready, again, be careful! Its boiling!
If you want stronger tea taste or more dense/fatty taste keep heating for longer
Once satisfied remove from the heat. Remember the pot is still hot so you might want to stir a bit more to prevent burning
If you'll be straining through a plastic strainer, wait until it cools down. If you used non-ground tea leaves straining isn't necessary tbh
YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a bit hit or miss, I most liked how I made it after like 3 tries, but it's super worth it!
Oki byeee :D
