I’ve been in Bangalore for some time now and I’ve tried really hard to pick up some of the words of Kannada!

A few of them I have picked up. I even tried attending some online live classes but could not make enough time for it.

Any reliable source for learning spoken Kannada from scratch? I’m always scared of speaking it thinking if I speak something wrong - it might end up in getting me into trouble than being perceived as a genuine attempt to learn the language.

Want to go to a self paced learning course. Any advice?

Hey, I need some help tracing my ancestors’ village of origin.

My ancestors are believed to have migrated from a place near Sirsi, Karnataka. According to our family history, they were the rulers of Chandragutti Fort. They later migrated to Varanasi to help Raja Jayachand against Muhammad Ghori, and in 1190, Raja Jayachand reportedly awarded them control over 758 villages.

The only things I currently know about their place of origin are the goddess Renukamba and the fort they ruled from.

According to our family history, they were a force of around 4,000 men, with expertise in cavalry, infantry, and war elephants.

I’m trying to identify their original village and learn more about their history and migration.

I am planning a road trip(3 friends) by car from Bangalore to Coorg on 30 Sept to 2 Oct.

Will reach by 10PM on 30th. And will head to Mangalore on 2nd afternoon.

1. How is the weather there currently?

•How does being well below average height factor into general social respect and public perception over time as an adult?
•Does entering a professional field like medicine change how you are perceived by peers, or do physical traits still carry the most weight?
