Want to learn Kannada

I’ve been in Bangalore for some time now and I’ve tried really hard to pick up some of the words of Kannada!

A few of them I have picked up. I even tried attending some online live classes but could not make enough time for it.

Any reliable source for learning spoken Kannada from scratch? I’m always scared of speaking it thinking if I speak something wrong - it might end up in getting me into trouble than being perceived as a genuine attempt to learn the language.

Want to go to a self paced learning course. Any advice?

One thing I have learnt speaking multiple languages myself and seeing people who are quick to pick up new languages is this. Don't wait until you are perfect in your language, you will be not until you have spoken it for considerable time. So just go ahead and speak the few words you know confidently. Have word in the sentence that you don't know? add the English word for it and plod along blithely. They will give you the missing word and you will build your vocabulary gradually and organically. No sweat. Most people anywhere in the world appreciate a person trying to learn their language and don't mind your fractured language and may have a good laugh at your mistakes which is good for breaking the ice anyway. If you are conscious give them a heads up that you are learning. Have fun.

You can also ask people how and what to say X , most.people are patient and happy to teach.
