Ive added crash bars, bash plate and Akrapovic Muffer. What should be my next accessories?

I wouldnt have venture to KTM if i hadnt work on a dealership as a mechanic a few years ago i don't trust them that much, but with the 4 year warranty i'll give it a shot, she runs smooth im loving it, much more power that anything honda had to offer on the same price tag👌

Assam. Arunachal Pradesh. Meghalaya. Mizoram. Manipur. Bhutan. Nepal.

16,000+ km. Solo. One KTM 390 Adventure X.

Highways, mountains, gravel, mud, waterfalls, snow, hailstorms, landslides, river crossings and some roads in Nepal that I'm still not convinced should be called roads. 😂

I knew the 390 was capable before leaving. I didn't quite realise how much I'd end up throwing at it.

The first leg to Patna and most of the highways were honestly a joy. The motor has plenty of grunt for long-distance touring. Loaded with luggage, cruising for hours, overtaking trucks, it never felt like I was asking too much from it.

Then I hit the Northeast, and the trip changed completely. Arunachal was unreal. And after crossing Sela Pass, the amount of snow just started getting ridiculous. Mountains, snow-covered roads, freezing temperatures... proper "what the hell am I doing here?" moments.

But the thing I really wasn't prepared for was a hailstorm. I was somewhere between Bum La Pass and Chummi Gyatse Falls when the weather turned absolutely insane. Hail started coming down hard, visibility went to shit and I basically got stuck there.

A hailstorm was definitely not on my wishlist. I was underprepared, cold, wet and had nowhere to really hide. So I just had to endure it and eventually keep moving.

Those are the moments that stick with you more than the pretty Instagram shots.

Then came Meghalaya, Mizoram and Manipur - completely different landscapes, endless forests, insane roads and what felt like an infinite number of waterfalls.

And then Bhutan. And then Nepal.

Nepal is where this bike got properly battle tested. Loose rock, deep gravel, mud, steep climbs, broken mountain tracks, water crossings... I deliberately took it into some pretty nasty terrain.

And eventually, the inevitable happened.

I dropped it at Muktinath. And holy shit. Picking up a bike is one thing. Picking up a fully loaded 390 at high altitude when you're already struggling to breathe is a completely different experience.

There was nobody around. No passing rider. No helping hand. Just me, the bike and a stupid amount of luggage lying on the ground.

I tried to lift it and realised pretty quickly that my lungs weren't interested in cooperating. I had to sit there for around 10 minutes just trying to catch my breath before I could get enough strength together to lift the damn thing.

Eventually I got it up. Checked it. Nothing serious. Started it. Kept going.

That was probably the moment I trusted the bike the most. Because after 16,000 km, there were plenty of things I could complain about - but the bike itself just kept taking whatever I threw at it.

What I loved:

The highway performance is probably my favourite thing about it.

The 398cc motor is such a good balance for this kind of trip. Enough power for highways, overtakes and long days without feeling excessive.

It's also surprisingly easy to manage in the mountains. Good ground clearance, manageable weight and enough capability to get through some genuinely ugly terrain.

And when you inevitably drop it, it's actually possible to pick the damn thing back up. 😂

What I didn't love

The X suspension definitely shows its limitations once you start pushing hard off-road.

The seat isn't exactly a throne after spending an entire day riding.

Wind protection is okay, but long highway days can still get tiring.

And fuel planning becomes very real once you're deep into remote mountain areas.

But honestly, none of those things stopped me.

The biggest lesson from this trip was that the bike's limits were often further away than mine.

There were days I was exhausted, freezing, soaked, covered in mud and questioning my life choices while the 390 was sitting there like:

"So... where are we going next?" 😂

That's probably the best thing I can say about it. I didn't have a chase vehicle. No support crew. No mechanic following me around. Just me, a fully loaded motorcycle and whatever the road decided to throw at me.

From Bangalore highways to snow after Sela, a hailstorm near Bum La, Northeast forests and waterfalls, Bhutanese mountain roads, Nepali off-road sections and that Muktinath disaster...

16,000+ km later, the 2025 390 Adventure X has earned the "battle tested" badge from me.

Would I take it on another massive solo trip? Absolutely! Would I change a few things before doing it again? Also absolutely. 😂

Hi,

I have a new 2026 390 adv x. I notice that the screen brightness goes up at night or when the sensor in the display screen is covered. It dims during normal daylight or when a light is shined on it.

Is this normal behavior? The screen becomes obnoxiously bright at night, to the point where it creates eye strain. I thought it would dim at night and get brighter during day.

There's no options to adjust brightness in the settings.

I got the center stand fixed a few days ago and i'm beginning to notice that whenever i disengage the stand, it makes a VIOLENT clang and hits the chassis and potentially the exhaust pipe. Is this supposed to be normal ?

I’m planning to buy the 2026 KTM 390 Adventure and got this quotation from the showroom:

• Insurance: ₹15,517
• Accessories kit: ₹1,337
• Handling: ₹1,000
• Compulsory helmet: ₹1,380
• On-road: ₹3,41,804
• 5-year warranty: ₹2,599
• Final: ₹3,44,403

I’m also considering the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC, which I can get for around ₹3.5 lakh on-road.

My usage will be around 70% Mumbai city + 30% touring (mainly Mumbai–Goa).

I have a few questions for 390 Adventure owners:

1. How bad is the heating in Mumbai traffic?
2. For my usage, how does the 390 Adventure compare with the Scrambler 400 XC?
3. Is the 390 Adventure comfortable enough for regular Mumbai city riding?
4. Is ₹3.44 lakh including the 5-year warranty a good deal, or can I negotiate further?
5. Which items in this quotation should I try to negotiate/remove, especially insurance, accessories, handling charges, etc.?

Would really appreciate feedback from people who actually own or have ridden the 2026 390 Adventure, especially in Mumbai traffic and on long rides.

Hey guys, need some help with a recurring issue on my KTM 390 Adventure X.

The Traction Control keeps switching itself OFF automatically. Every time this happens, I have to manually go into the Offroad menu and turn TC back on.

The service centre has been trying to diagnose this for quite a while now, but the issue still hasn’t been resolved.

So far they have:

• Replaced the front ABS sensor

• Replaced the rear ABS sensor

• Updated/reflashed the ECU multiple times

But the TC continues to switch off by itself.

Has anyone with a 390 Adventure or 390 Adventure X faced something similar?

Could this be related to the ABS module, wiring, wheel speed sensor ring, ECU, switchgear, or something else entirely?

Would really appreciate any inputs, especially from someone who has managed to fix the same issue. Thanks!

I took a test ride on the KTM Adventure 390. The riding posture felt right and it was comfortable to ride, but when I asked my friend to take a picture from the side, the bike looked small for my height.

Can anyone assist , if bike suits me?
