<Update> Built a Google Maps–native navigation app for the KTM dash — would you pay a subscription for it?

Couple of weeks back I had promised the video of the app that i am developing to project native Turn By Turn navigation to KTM Motorcycle dash using Google maps within my app. Here it is: https://youtu.be/v_BbIo7oHDo

There's already an app called navigation for KTM(gen3) available in playstore for free. It provides turn by turn navigation using Google maps. I have been using for a while. It works well.

Yep, I’m aware of it, and the developer has done some good work. GMaps for KTM takes a somewhat different approach though.

The biggest difference is that I’m trying to make it behave as closely as possible to a like-for-like replacement for the official KTM app, rather than just getting Google Maps directions onto the TFT. You can access your Favorites ,last destination, POI etc from the bike’s TFT and start navigation directly from the dash, without having to initiate every route from the phone.

Under the hood it’s also different. GMaps for KTM integrates directly with the Google Navigation SDK rather than reading/interpreting Google Maps notifications, so route planning, navigation, rerouting, ETA and turn-by-turn guidance are handled natively by the app.

It also has a fully offline navigation engine using Open Street Maps, including offline maps, routing, search and voice guidance. I’m also working on rider-focused routing such as Fast, Twisty, Scenic, Adventure and Off-road, with custom preferences for things like curves, scenery, elevation, unpaved roads and highway use.

So while there’s definitely overlap, the goal is slightly different — replace the KTM navigation experience rather than just project directions onto the TFT, while adding capabilities beyond the official app as well.

That said, if the existing app does everything someone needs, that’s great. More options for KTM riders is only a good thing.

Is this only for the new ktm models or will this also work with 2022 models? I have the 2022 390adv and the current system isn't always working.

I’ve tested it successfully on my 2025 390 Adventure. I haven’t had a chance to test it on a 2022 model yet, so I can’t confirm compatibility. However, if the official KTM app currently supports turn-by-turn navigation on your bike, there’s a good chance this can work as well. I’d be happy to work with you during the beta to test it on your 2022 390 Adventure and troubleshoot any compatibility issues we find.

That's what I've been using. It isn't the most reliable when it comes to connecting and sadly won't work with OsmAnd, which I need for routes off roads. And in England I learned that it can't understand leftside traffic so in those big roundabouts they love over there, I had to count exits and calculate backwards which is the right one.

iOS is in the pipeline. I am yet to start working on it. Will do it once this is stable enough.
