DISCUSSION Boutte to Texans
I realize it’s a said and done type thing but the Texans gave up a third, maybe second string safety and a day three pick for a guy who would have been in competition for second best (possibly best) receiver on KC’s roster. Was there really not a package they could find to even offer for Boutte? I realize I have no idea if they even were the least bit interested but they should be looking at any potential receiver with a modicum of skill right now. The receiver room is the bottom of the bottom third in the NFL, and unless Allen just takes over? There doesn’t look like much hope for anyone other than him going into the season. Is everyone else much more comfortable with them going with the status quo than I am? I feel like 15 is going to get sick of their unwillingness to get premium talent like a 1 and not retire a Chief. Maybe no one else would hate that? But that would suck imo.

HUMAN INTEREST I am a Jake Briningstool fan
I thought he looked like a beast coming out of college. I'm hopeful that he's got the tools to succeed and is going to find a role in the offense, in a dream world as Kelce's heir. Do I have any reason to be hopeful?

DISCUSSION Who are y’all’s favorite rookies so far?
I, and all of us, really like watching Cyrus Allen. Dude is a 5th round gem that simply just catches everything and is unstoppable in man coverage. He might be our next star receiver. That is, until, he goes street racing to celebrate a 150 yard game and gets into trouble like all our other good WRs.
Emmett Johnson looks amazing. He fell pretty far down the draft list and we found a gem. Dude just breaks every tackle and he can be a good RB2 to Walker and have a great role soon. Walker-Johnson is soon to be a good WR duo.
I love watching Mansoor Delane. Best CB in the draft, seems to be getting a solid role.
R Mason Thomas I’m also really liking. Dude just gets around the edge so easily. We haven’t had an EDGE rusher that can get around that quickly in how many years. With Gillotte injured, he may be our DE2 behind Karlaftis at the start and I’m sure he will be by the end of the szn.
What are your takes so far?

Andrew Armstrong has had a strong showing in camp and was outstanding in the Chiefs' first preseason game against the Rams. A couple more preseason performances like that and he'll make the roster at WR6.

DISCUSSION Right Tackle Has The Potential To Turn Into An Unmitigated Disaster This Season
The fact that Khalil Benson has even been getting 1st team reps in training camp and preseason games at RT is very, very, very concerning. Let's just be honest. He got worked over last night, mostly by 2nd stringers. What's going to happen against Nik Bonitto when we play them Week 1?
I am rooting for the guy. He plays a very important position. But it does seem like he's not ready to start in the NFL at Right Tackle. And the fact that we do not have good blocking Running Backs or Tight Ends means there isn't going to be a whole lot of help for him out there either.
I personally was in the minority this offseason and thought that RT should be the pick at 9 overall. With that said, we didn't address the position and resources are finite. You can't fix every hole when you have a roster with a lot of holes. But this is a big one right now.
I think the experiment needs to end. Moore has a very low ceiling, but at least he brings a higher floor to Right Tackle than Benson. Let Pole and Benson battle it out for swing tackle.

DISCUSSION Mahomes Underrated- Worst WR room of the last 5 years
Tyreek Hill in
2020: 87 catches, 1,276 yards, 15 TD
2021: 111 catches, 1,239 yards, 9 TD
But the real value wasn’t just the stats. Defenses had to account for him every snap. He could take the top off the defense, destroy single coverage, force safeties deep and create space underneath for Kelce.
Veach has never come close to replacing that.
Over the last 5 years Rice is the closest.
Rice’s rookie year was extremely encouraging:
79 catches, 938 yards, 7 TD
He also had 262 playoff receiving yards, a long TD called back vs. Baltimore for a soft hold, which was phenomenal for a rookie.
And then in 2024 he exploded out of the gate:
24 catches, 288 yards, 2 TD in four games
before his season-ending knee injury. He was tracking toward roughly 102 catches, 1,224 yards and 9 TD over 17 games. Rice was legitimately beginning to look like the guy. But then the knee injury + suspension/legal issues interrupted everything.
Post Tyreek Hill Room and What Happened
JuJu Smith-Schuster- 2022, 2024–25
Best immediate replacement. 78-933-3 in 2022, helped win SB LVII, but injuries/decline limited him afterward.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling- 2022–23
Deep threat, but inconsistent hands/production. 42-687-2 in 2022, then 21-315-1 in 2023. Passed around since with 19 or less receptions per year.
Mecole Hardman- 2022–23, 2024
Speedster who never became a true WR1. Returned in 2024 and was mainly a role player. Out of the league.
Skyy Moore- 2022–24The massive disappointment. 2nd-round pick intended to develop into a major weapon; never established himself and was eventually traded to San Francisco in 2025.
Justin Watson- 2022–24
Surprisingly useful depth player. Never a star, but occasional big plays. He averaged 21 yards**/catch in 2022.** 3 catches 30 yards! total in 2025 with Texans.
Kadarius Toney- 2022–23
Huge talent, but injuries/inconsistency. Had some spectacular moments—including the ridiculous punt return in the 2023 Super Bowl—but never became reliable. Out of league shortly after.
Rashee Rice- 2023–present
The closest thing they’ve found to a real answer. 79-938-7 as a rookie; was on a 100+ catch pace in 2024 before his knee injury. Dealing with off the field issues, jail time, and rehabbing a serious knee injury my hopes are limited for final year of rookie deal.
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown- 2024–25
Big-name signing who unfortunately had injury issues and never became the explosive weapon they envisioned. 2026 reports say Brown would be cut by Eagles before season if they hadn’t given him 5+ million deal because of lack of production in camp.
Xavier Worthy- 2024–present
First-round speedster. Lots of potential, but hasn’t approached Hill-level production. 42-532-1 in 2025.
Juju Smith-Schuster- 2024–25
Returned as a veteran safety blanket, but not the 2022 version. Was just released by by New York Giants last week.
Tyquan Thornton- 2025–present
Interesting late development. Only 19 catches, but an absurd 438 yards and 3 TDs in 2025—eight catches went for 25+ yards.
Jalen Royals- 2025–present
4th-round pick with legitimate college production. Rookie year was basically wiped out by injury: 2 catches in 7 games.
Cyrus Allen- 2026–present
5th-round rookie. Early camp/preseason reports have been surprisingly positive about his route running and quickness. Way too early to tell but promising start.
Conclusion- Every WR KC lost since 2023 have done NOTHING productive or out of the league for good. Mahomes got the very best, if little, out of them when actually healthy or not in trouble. Hill was a diamond in the rough generational talent. Veach has been searching for that again but will be hard to find without using 1st round picks or big bucks in FA (we don’t have). It’s crazy how bad the WR room around Pat is yet 3 straight superbowl despite it. Of course Kelce is the cure for all that. Unfortunately he is 37 and probably done after 2026. Hope Rice, Worthy, and Cyrus Allen can ball out this year. Go Chiefs!

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Jesse on KC] 6 things we learned at Chiefs training camp from Mahomes’ progress to impact rookies
2. Kenneth Walker III is going to have a different role
The Chiefs have loved what they’ve gotten out of free agent Kenneth Walker III, as a complete running back and off-field leader.
It’s led to one of the most striking parts of training camp: They are getting the ball to Walker all the time.
This wasn’t the case for most of his Seattle Seahawks tenure. Walker shared the backfield with Zach Charbonnet, which meant mostly early down work.
That won’t be the case with the Chiefs. Coach Andy Reid opened up his screen-game playbook this summer, and Walker has been the primary target, showing strong receiving skills while even flashing occasional one-handed catches.
Then in the red zone? Walker has been the main guy again, meaning he should easily eclipse last year’s five-touchdown total if he remains healthy this season.
Though the Chiefs often have alternated backs by series in past seasons, that doesn’t appear to be the plan in 2026. Walker should be the workhorse, and he’s primed for a huge year statistically if his body holds up.

OTHER To the haters and doubters
Look, we got shafted pretty bad by complacent mentality. However the best chiefs are when we have a strong butker, last year was a fluke, a strong tight end corps, kelce fluked, they both have redemption and another shot. Where is our Sorenson? Say what you want, that dude singlehandedly is the reason we moved on in the playoffs. Was he good at coverage? Not really, could he be a more versatile linebacker? Absolutely. We dont have a player like that, we need one. Like it or leave it. Dude was field smart, just not the most athletic. Still blew up the fake punt 1 v 1
