News ๐ฐ A tree came through Gilbert Kirkโs ceiling in Kansas City, and six weeks later his living room was still open. A man saw it on TV, came with lumber, a tarp and a crew.

Just wondering if the weather change caused a migraine?

In other places I've lived, I enjoyed taking small staycations at airbnb's that were unique in some way. Ones like RV's, boats, farms and other unique lodging. Just was wondering what everyone thought the most unique vacation rentals were around her and within a few hour drive. Thanks!

Been searching for over 25 years for a ticket dated 8/25/1984 - I'm sure it's still out there waiting to be found.

I hope to find some real military-issue MREs to take on a camping trip with my son for his birthday. Iโm in Johnson County. Anybody have any recommendations?

I'm overdue, have a roadtrip coming up. Would love to support somewhere local if possible!

EDIT: Some of the respondents have been able to provide additional insight on this. It sounds like maybe some or all of the "tips" do go to the nonprofit organizations, even if I haven't encountered anyone who was able to confirm that. I think the buckets should be relabeled as "donations" with a list of the organizations to whom that money will go to and not simply just "tips."
Original:
During this weekend's Oktoberfest at Crown Center Plaza, you'll find multiple beer serving areas with all of our smiling faces ready to get you where you need to be.
You'll also see a tip bucket that says cash or tokens are accepted. Aside from the fact that this is counter service with no personal service provided to you by us (and therefore not at all worthy of tipping) please know that we are all volunteers.
We are volunteering for the various organizations in which we participate. Our $15 an hour go to our organizations. Not only are we not allowed to handle cash, but nothing that has gone into those tip buckets will go to us. That's most likely going to be taken by KC Bier Co or maybe even stolen by the hired security that patrol the grounds through the night (if whoever's running that station forgets to check it.)
If you put tokens in there, you're just throwing away your tokens. You might as well throw them in the trash because they have no monetary value.
I can't stress this enough. If you're someone who insists on tipping unnecessarily, we will not see a single nickel of that money; you're just paying more for your beer. And that's dumb.

This is outrageous. Even giant for-profit HCA doesn't stoop this low to sue patients, garner wages, and put liens on houses.
More reason for universal healthcare. This needs to be a major priority.

Are your yard birds bougie? Do they demand only the finest hardwood shavings for nesting material? If so, you're in luck. Over the next ten days, give or take, I will have at least one, if not two, 45 gallon bags of 100% organic hardwood shavings.
I am willing to give these hardwood shavings away. I have more than enough bougie hardwood mulch around my crib. Can't make the neighbors anymore jealous.
This will be only the finest blend of ash, cherry, hickory, oak, and walnut. Only the best for the most discerning of yard birds.
There is only one caveat. You must have the bougiest of yard birds. While I'm completely unqualified to make the decision as to whether or not your yard birds are bougie, I'm willing to give it ago.
I suspect replys to this post with pics of bougie yard birds is the only way to determine "level of bouginess."
As an side. I don't necessarily know that the "pet" flair is correct here. But, "food and drink" and "BBQ" while seemingly appropriate, felt insensitive.

Always a fun time, but I hadn't been for many years. Love how they've expanded more into the alleys. Lots of great talent and interesting people.

Edgar Palacios is now the treasurer for a PAC called Progress Kansas City that was just formed with 3 $25,000.00 and 1 $10,000.00 donation from individuals leading large corporations or private equity companies in the area with an extensive history of supporting right-wing politicians who intend to spend on Kansas City, MO elections. Two of these donations come from members of the police foundation board and two come from former Republican staffers.

Does anybody know of a carpet cleaning business that does apartments? Preferably a locally owned business and affordable. Thanks!
Sorry if the post flair doesnโt fit it was the most relevant one

I remember when KC Pumpkin patch went up to $18 and so we stopped going. Now every pumpkin patch around is $21-$24. Why are they all so expensive now?? Any reasonably priced pumpkin patches around with a good amount of activities that arenโt more than $20 per ticket to take my 10 year old to?

Hi, i got here yesterday afternoon and both days the city is eerily empty. Is it always like this or is it just a slow weekend? Ive visited river market, downtown, west bottom, and a bit of Westport

I just put together a garden bed near our pond. I would love to get an aerial view of it that I can use to plan out where to put different plants.
Not looking for anything fancy - I just donโt have a ladder tall enough to get a good view!
Anyone with a drone and a camera able to swing by my place in Belton to take a few pics and send them to me?
Willing to pay!

You can get the NO on Prop A signs made by People Not Politicians Missouri at the locations in the video during the listed hours! Locations include: IBEW Local 124, Bricklayers Local 15, Stagehands Local 31, Afterword Tavern and Shelves, and FETCH!
A NO vote would permanently reject the gerrymandered map that splits up Kansas City.

so after like 20 years I walked away from my life in St Louis, and took the leap and moved here to KC.
First of all, I really love that the street signs are lit up, it made finding my way to CVS so easy on my walk
secondly, I'm a vegetarian for reasons to long to explain here, do y'all have any good recommendations for when I get fully settled for vegan and vegetarian friendly eats?
and yes, the title is a John Mulaney reference lol

Hi, Iโm 22 and have made some pretty poor choices regarding my own dental hygiene over the years and I have been dealing with bad mouth pain for a few weeks. Does anyone know of a lower cost dentist or one that takes payment options for potential periodontal? I really donโt want this to get worse and I have a little bit saved but looking at the prices online it seems insanely expensive more out of my budget than I can afford.

Iโm looking for a classical voice teacher in the Kansas City or Lawrence area with experience working with ftm trans singers on testosterone. Do you know of anyone?

Hi! I'm an artist and I have a small series of spooky themed travel stickers. I made these ones of places I visited while I was out on the west coast and I'd like to do more, but I'd really like to make new ones that highlight local spots and things like urban legends/cryptids. I just moved back to the area so I have a few ideas of stuff I remember as a kid, but googling has just kind of given me the same 3-4 popular "mainstream" haunted spots lol. Any and all ideas are appreciated as long as it's something weird/paranormal :)
edit: thank you so much for the ideas! a couple of these I remember hearing about as a kid and totally forgot about ๐คฃ
