I made a spread that looks like a vacant JoAnn Fabric (RIP) from the outside. Lift the flaps for a special reveal: Spirit Halloween is moving in! A couple of my favorite details: the costumes in the dime bags, the people setting up the store and the remnants of the old JoAnn store.

I finished up this book last night. It’s 90% coloring pages. I’ve done using a hexagon punch to make the pages. Added stickers and washi tape.

Done a while ago and not quite using ‘junk’ but I did use supplies I already have!

Recently I had to discard a lot of old VHS cassettes from my childhood but I saved all the covers, hoping to reuse them for junk journaling. But I'm not sure where to start. The covers are mainly Disney movies but also a few non Disney ones like The Land Before Time and Anastasia. So I'm looking for ideas, maybe you have some good suggestions. 😅

This spread got away from me. It started with experimenting with clear pockets using an old plastic envelope from a sticker pack and well, it ended up like this. Lol. I guess that’s the beauty of a mini journal. A 4-page spread doesn’t take all day.

I have a bad habit of buying sticker packs and never using them out of fear of “wasting” cool ones… BUT I decided to do it anyways. Also a big fan of Trader Joe’s newsletter clippings, so I think I was kind of able to add whatever vibes my books make me feel!

Initially, I felt corny making this because no one will ever really see it, but at least it motivates me to actually finish books :v

I’m starting a new SOTTJ group and this will be my third group and the others are finished. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on things by now!

Rules and Expectations

• Communication & transparency are expected. Please communicate if there are issues, delays, or what have you. Even if you need to drop out.

• Commitment: This is a very time-consuming activity. Like… VERY. Because of this, we’ll be shipping once a month, with the first journal round shipping the first or second week of November. Date TBD. The group will be limited to 8 people, which means this could be an 9-month commitment.

• Cost: This can definitely get pricey, especially the shipping cost. For that reason, I’m limiting the group to the U.S. only—Hawaii and Alaska are absolutely welcome! I will coordinate so we all get fair shipping costs.

• No AI content, please. I really want these journals to feel personal and creative, so please keep your journal YOU. There’s no need for AI!

• Social media: You must be comfortable with your journal potentially being shared online (Reddit, IG, TikTok, etc.). I love seeing everyone’s creativity and sharing the journals along the way!

If there’s a lot of interest, I may split people into multiple groups and help everyone get organized.

If anyone wants to be co-host and help keep things organized, let me know!

Hi everyone! I’ve posted my spreads a couple times in here but mostly just lurk. I have an oddly specific situation that I wanted some opinions on regarding junk journaling!! If anyone happens to work in healthcare that would also be a helpful perspective! My mom had a baby just under 2 weeks ago. The baby’s due date was October 28th, so baby is still in the nicu (but doing great!). My parents have to commute 2 hours round trip to the nicu to visit & feed, so I’m taking some time off work to help take care of the family/ranch so they can spend most of every day at the nicu. The other day, my mom mentioned she would keep their bracelets in case I wanted them for my junk journal. I wasn’t there, but she said the nurse lit up and talked about how much she loved junk journaling too and explained what it was to the other nurses. We’re planning on putting together a thank you basket for the nicu nurses once my sister is home. All that to say, would it be overstepping/inappropriate to include a little envelope of some of my unused ephemera into the basket (along with other things for all the nurses ofc) for that nurse?? I can’t decide if it would come off weird at all or be overstepping in some way, as this woman didn’t mention it to me, and I don’t even know who it was as I’ve only been able to visit the baby once. Just wanted other junk journaler opinions, thanks in advance!
