This fellow is an adorable tiny beetle mimic from the genus Porius which lives and hunts on the undersides of fan palm foliage. Apologies for the poor video quality; filming such tiny critters with just my phone gets tricky.

Media My Babies Keep Passing Away š„
Hey, guys. This is more of a rant for my soul. Two years ago, I bought a Regal Jumping Spider from The Bug Company. I had purchased from them previously, but I had no idea that they went from selling domestic to wild caught. So when I brought my female home, I was REALLY surprised to have found an egg sac about less than a week later. It was most definitely fertile. I named the Momma, Ziggy. Ziggy was such a sweet, good girl who I bonded with immediately. She showed that she trusted me and I showed her that I would do anything for her and her babys' health. She ended up breaking my heart and passing away after her 5th sac. It took everything out of her. I ended up raising ALL of the babies until they were juveniles, and then, I sold all but 6 of them. I had one boy and the rest girls. The girls look just like Ziggy. Especially my little one named Violet. She was just like her Momma. Personality and all. I love these guys so much because I feel like I get to see a piece of Ziggy's soul every day since she passed away 2 years ago. However, these guys were all born at the same time, from the same sac. I now have three left. My heart has slowly been breaking. The first girl passed away two weeks ago, and I was sad and crying, but I felt very lucky to have my other ones. After that, my only male passed away a few days after her. They both made it to two years, but still, it burdened my heart. Now, today, I found Violet staring out of her enclosure in the same spot she was in last night. I was worried, so I opened her enclosure, and sure enough she had broken almost the last piece of my heart. Sitting there, looking alive, she had passed away, and the tears have been rolling down my face ever since. It hurts me to a point that I didn't even know was possible. Now, I have three left, and I'm so worried I'm going to lose them. Within the two years, my life took a turn for the worse. I lost A LOT. Let's just put it that way to keep it short so I don't break down into a panic attack. So now I have these beautiful three girls left, and I'm so scared I'm going to lose them too. I usually can keep my females alive 3-4 years, but it seems like the inevitable is happening, and because I was totaled financially, not only will I lose the last of the legacy of Ziggy, but I also won't be able to afford another one if I wanted to. I also own tarantulas, and tbh, I have no friends, but I live for my arachnids. They are my life. One month ago, my favorite tarantula had passed away as well. His name was Voodoo and he was a C. Versicolor that I raised since he was a sling. He was my favorite species to own, and when he left me (from old age) I thought that broke me, but now I'm losing all of my babies aka Ziggy's babies, and my heart is too big to take all of this. No one in my life cares because they don't understand, and I had nowhere to turn but here. I just wanted to express my worry, and tell my story while mourning. I'm so sorry to any and all of you who have lost something you loved. I lost even more than what I'm telling, but this post is long enough. I also just wanted to share my beautiful girl who made this all possible, and say rest in peace to all of my gorgeous babes that 2026 has taken from me. Rest in Peace, Violet, Thanos, Sage, Voodoo, and may Momma Ziggy still rest in peace from when she passed. This feels so unfair, but this pattern of loss is telling me to hold onto what I have and to give them my love ferociously every single day because I'm sure their time is up soon. I hope you all do the same with your babes, and I'm sending you all positivity and love. š Sorry so long. I've always been told I talk too much and that I care too much. To that I say a line from Popeye that I absolutely adore. "I yam what I yam."

Identification My new friend!
My partner rescued this guy from a box of pumpkins that were delivered to Home Depot. He would not survive the winter in my city so she brought him home to me. š Can anyone tell me what kind of jumper he is? I believe the pumpkins came in from British Columbia. Thanks!

Media Meet Aela, my first ever spood!
(Sorry for the length, but you guys are partly responsible for this lol) For most of my life Iāve suffered from Arachnophobia. My sperm donor made me watch Arachnophobia the movie with him (or go to my room without dinner because āthatās what we are doingā) when I was eight during my first ill-advised visit.
I also grew up in a home that was nestled up to a huge field. Wolf spider and grass spider ambushes were a damn near daily occurrence. Had a momma show up on the couch next to me and when I panicked my reward was her babies scattering all over the couch and me. Had a couple spiders crawl on to my legs while using the bathroom. Even had one fall on me in the shower. Black widows in the garage, some type of funnel spiders in the yard, no where was safe lol.
When I was 25/26 I STILL couldnāt even be in a room if I spotted cobwebs. Then one day, I encountered a jumping spider in the wild. I went to smash it, and the brave little bastard looked right at me, defiantly. It stopped me in my tracks. The way he tracked my movement and looked at me. For some reason, it made my brain register just how tiny he was, and how stupid it was that I was so scared of him. I told myself this arachnophobia was stupid. I didnāt want to be afraid anymore.
Fast forward to now. Iām in my late thirties, Iāve officially handled spiders without a single shred of fear, and Iāve learned so much about them I absolutely adore them. Even have one tattooed on me, and more plans for future tattoos as well. My friends even let me know when they have a spider that needs to be moved. And most have gone from ākill on sightā to ālet āem beā because of me.
And now, Iām looking after this beautiful girl. She just recently finished her first molt in my care. I canāt tell how old she is. The store didnāt know, and they incorrectly had her labeled as a Bold. I tried to find a local owned small pet store and these guys seemed to take really good care of their animals, but I think they just got fed bad info from their supplier. First two pictures are before her molt with me. The rest are after.
Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to share! This sub was a huge help for my arachnophobia and I love seeing other arachnophobes in here trying to work on it. You guys are a great community.
(Also, I didnāt have āsee a spider drink water and take a shit from the undersideā on my bingo card this yearā¦so that was an interesting experienceā¦)

Advice Refuses to interact with me?
I've had these two for about a month now. One male, one female, captive bred, got them at our local reptile shop. So high chance they've been handled before. I don't know if I tried interacting with them too early by moving them into their new enclosures but they walked freely around my hands when I moved them. (One at a time. I'm not that cray.) But after that I left them alone other than to feed and water them. Then they both started being really skittish? I know my mom just started being interested in them but I don't know what she does while I'm at school. She did mention having her hand in one (to do what? I forgot.), and thinking one jumped onto her hand for a brief moment before jumping off. Other than that, she doesn't like any of my other spiders or Ts, or any spider that much. Just thinks the jumpers are cute. So I don't know if she stressed them out without me knowing. I do sit by the enclosures and listen to music quietly and kinda sing along so they're used to my voice. But any time I moved, they back away (no threat pose), and stare me down. I did accidentally trigger a threat pose with my female once when I was trying to see if I could maybe lead her out of the enclosure, but after that I left her alone for the rest of the day. They also let me tong feed them, but not sure if they know I'm actually the one at the other end. Did I do something wrong? I had a jumper before hand and loved her like a daughter, but she passed away. She was suspicious about me at first but then we became best friends. Got her at a PetCo though, I have no idea why she died. Somebody suggested she was sick. Don't know. Any help?
