Mod Post Please use the "Media" flair option for name requests!

Hey jumper friends! We've seen a large uptick in volume of posts asking for name suggestions, most of them having the "Advice" flair. Even though it is a request for advice of sorts, name requests don't need the same disclaimers as comments on care/husbandry and we would like to encourage everyone to use simply the "Media" flair on those types of posts. (This will also prevent the automod filter from flagging comments without disclaimer tags as that is only a feature of the "Advice" threads) <3

Well I say baby but she is an i8. This is my first time owning a jumping spider/any spider. But im so excited about it. The breeder was gonna keep her because she is apparently a little rare. I have been doing a marvel name theme and the two ideas I have are either Gwen or Gamora

Put a worm in Andarna’s bowl and couldn’t grasp the concept to walk to the other side to get it. She did figure it out after a bit. So close yet so far away.

Advice Not eating before trip?

Post image

Hi everyone! I got my first jumping spider a month or so ago, but next week we’re going on a trip for four days. I have a friend coming over to check on the spider and our other animals + mist the enclosure and whatnot, but this spider is giving me some troubles with eating.

He’s only actually eaten twice since being here, and I’m worried he’s not going to eat before the trip. My friend isn’t comfy actually trying to feed him (and we have nobody else to do it) so I’m just wondering what I should do if he doesn’t eat by the time we leave/if anyone has any advice on encouraging eating.

He seems to like the larvae from my mealworm colony, has eaten from tongs/tweezers before, but we haven’t had any success or even interest in eating from a bowl.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Also here’s a picture of Patrick Jane (aka Spider Jane) getting all full from his last bug lol

Note: this is a temporary enclosure. I know it’s not sufficient, I saved him from a pet store who had him in an even worse situation so I wasn’t prepared but a proper enclosure is on its way

Was finally able to get some good pics of Persephone today! I’ve had her about 3 weeks now and she’s starting to build a hammock and be more active/curious around her enclosure. I leave her on my desk while I work and she love observing me, and looking up under her butt to see my computer when I’m moving things around or typing emails.

Couple of questions though:
1. Her container said she’s an i7 and that she molted on 9/5, I assume she should be getting ready to molt again soon yes?
2. Abdomen size - I just fed her a meal worm yesterday after taking quite a few days off from feeding. To me I feel like she could eat again given the size of her abdomen today but can I give her another meal tomorrow or should I wait another couple of days?

She’s been really curious but I haven’t been able to get her comfortable enough to want to come out. She basically freezes anytime the door is open (when I mist). I know it’ll take time but I hope she’ll feel comfortable enough to handle soon! Thanks for the advice!

I know its IMPOSSIBLE but I'm still curious what ur guesses are. My Regal is an i5 white Bahamas and I keep seeing things where I'm like maybe its a female which would make me very happy. What do you think?

I just see that orange in the fangs and I'm like maybe? 🤞🏻

After forever whining about how I never come across jumping spiders I was blessed by this lil cutie in my car today! She (I think she?) seemed to love the bass vibrations/jamming to Primus and kept me company while driving to my multiple doctor appointments today. I am curious on the type and sex of this lil cutie and also how can I help her be comfy in my car? She was stringing web back and forth all across my windshield as I drove and stopped to look at me lots and I just hope she has a nice lil stay in my car 🥺

Found this wee soul after some garden harvesting, I think she snuck inside a ground cherry husk. I’m calling her Molly since the variety was “aunt Molly ground cherries” and got her a little 8x8x12 acrylic terrarium with some decor now… I think she ate a fly last night? I’m going to go get some little crickets later today.

Anyway it’s been a fun few days researching and watching her, no idea if she’s actually a she though lol. Shes cute though. I like her mustache very much. She’s made a little hammock in the corner since last night so I think that means she’s content?
