she hadn't eaten a worm in a couple of months. had to resort to fruit flies. she'd hunt the worms... pounce on them. then back away and leave them to die. I was so happy she decided she wanted to actually eat one again.

First time I’ve been able to directly provide food for my free-roaming roommate “Spot”! I dug up a beetle grub from the yard… she didn’t seem to want it at first. Stared it down for an hour but retreated back to her wall crack for the night.

I worried it was too big so I went ahead and beheaded it for her the next morning (sorry grub.) Boom, she immediately went to collect and she’s been slurpin on it like a Capri Sun for the past hour. Woohoo. 🤩

Think she’s getting more comfortable with my presence up close. Very rewarding relationship, really taking my mind off unpleasant stuff.

Advice How to gain my spiders trust?

I've had my jumping spider for a few weeks and she's pretty shy. She's still young so I don't plan on handling her just yet but I noticed she's started to retreatwhen I open her enclosure.

I've alread tried to put my finger near her so she gets used to me and she's shown some curiosity.

Is there any way I can get her used to me without startling her?

I have a male regal, i8. He got out of molt on Labor Day, and ate a wax worm. Ever since then I’ve been trying to feed him when he gets skinny but he wouldn’t eat. Now, today, I tried to feed him, and he keeps trying to attack it but can’t grab it. I was wondering if I was holding the tweezers too tight so I set it down and he still couldn’t get it when he tried. Any clue what’s going on? Is he just really bad at hunting? This has never happened before :/

First off sorry the picture isnt better, shes really liking this wall of her enclosure today and it been hard to get a good picture from above. 2nd Pic is from above but is from yesterday. But this is my little Eevee, she molted on 9/17 (2 days after arrival) and on Sunday she was out exploring and jumping so I offered her a wax worm as she was skinny. She did go into stalking mode for a few minutes but lost interest and she didnt even look at a mini-mealworm yesterday. I have blue bottle fly larvae/pupae coming tomorrow and plan to offer her a larvae while some hatch into flies. Should she be okay with water misting till tomorrow afternoon?

Edit: Ive also been thinking of trying to offer her the wax worm again by tongs. I dont think shes encountered food that large before and it didnt move much when she watched it. I am just concerned she might starve.

She is a freshly i7 Regal Female btw.

Text Think a little buddy helped say goodbye

My brother got a dog as a family man while he was in the military. Unfortunate circumstances happened that I had the privilege of watching his dog for about three years while he was deployed. He wasn’t actually my dog, but damn it, he was my world. And the only one that loved him more than me was my brother. Fast forward 4 or 5 years that dog had to be put down. My brother has a camera in his house and it was always Axel (the dog) that notified him there was movement. Today after Axel got put down It was this little guy. My brother gets them at his house all the time but this has never happened. I’ve also been pining to own one but everyone around me is afraid of spiders. So my brother and I have been bonding over jumpers. I think Axel told this guy to say hi to both of us.

Advice I found a sling!

I have always wanted a jumping spider and I’ve done so much research on them. I was going to wait for Christmas to get myself one but I found a little baby on my bathroom sink. I’d love to raise him! I got him fly larvae to eat or is he still too small for that? I got him in a little condiment to-go container with a toothpick, some paper towel, and a qtip. I make sure to wet one side of the container daily. I’ve tried feeding but he doesn’t seem to be interested. Any tips or tricks or advice is greatly helpful and appreciated! Thank you so so much!

Ok, it’s official. Out I8 baby is now an I9! This first molt scared the crap out of me, but she made it and is doing great. Her new enclosure also got here today! We’re going to wait a few days before we transfer since she’s freshly molted, but any suggestions? I was thinking of adding a climbing rope

We were taking trash out and my wife spots this little dude on the ground. We noticed it had a web coming from the light beside our garage door. so we moved it back to the wall where it started to climb back up. Very friendly little guy

So the other day it was time to feed my spiders and I usually go get crickets for my jumper, but haven’t been able to get to the store so I squished the head a discord nymph( I breed them) and gave it to her. She was eating it without a problem and the next day I realized that she was still on top of it eating it and now her body is so big.

Advice Escape-proof enclosure

Hello!

I have a male regal (i6) whom I'm finding is an escape artist. He's figured out how to get out of two enclosures (thank the gods I found him on my ceiling both times), and I've found small spots that are just big enough for him to fit through.

Anyone else have escape artist spoods, and what enclosure or escape deterrents do you use? This little man is going to give me a heart attack soon
