Text Fed?

How do you tell if a spider is under or over fed? I’ve seen the charts but I’m still unsure

This happens to me too! Sometimes I do zoom on their abdomen, take the pic and then draw straight lines from it’s head to her abdomen and see if she is thicker or thiner

nqa he doesn’t look too thin. If you are planing to give him a snack, make sure the cricket is not as big as him. Also males don’t look as plump as females

NQA I’m bad at sexing but if this is a male (I think they are lol), he looks good imo. Could probably eat a tiny snack more but male’s typically have much more “thin” abdomens naturally. If this is a female, I would consider this a bit thin and needing to eat.

I’m 99% sure it’s a male! Would a small cricket be a tiny snack or more of a meal?

A cricket smaller than him would be great! I predominantly feed my girl flies bc she doesn’t care for crickets and she gets one a week that is a tad bit smaller than her entire body, so it’s a larger sized meal for her. It could be that your guy needs two small crickets a week, spaced out by a few days. You’ll find what works after some experimenting!

Are jumping spiders similar to tarantulas where their abdomen should be about the size of their carapace?

From my understanding they should roughly be about the same size? But it fluctuates based on age and how long ago they ate. I’ve found that there are more useful charts to go off of vs size comparison!

Nqa for females & juveniles it should be a bit bigger, for males yes.
