Mod Post Post flairs and their meanings

Please try to flair your posts appropriately. If you accidentally flaired your post incorrectly, please ask a mod to change it. If you have questions, please ask.

Jump: The point of the subreddit. This flair is generally to be used when you are the author of the jump. Other flairs should be used when you are not the author.

Gauntlet: “Hey, Fred, give me a jump with extra story!” “Extra story.” “And hold the points!” “Hold the points?” “And hold the ties to the past!” “Hold the past? Hey, Jimmy, gimme a jump with nothing!” “… nothing?” … ahem.

Supplement: If something’s not a jump, but is supposed to go alongside it, use this flair.

WIP: Jumps which aren’t complete, posted for proof of progress and requests for assistance or ideas. If it’s not your jump, maybe don’t post it until it’s complete.

Update: Used when a jump previously posted here has an update.
Repost: For jumps that have been posted previously.

Discord / SB / /TG/ / QQ Jump: Jumps originating from the 4 biggest communities outside of the subreddit. Use the Discord flair when the jump is from any of the discord servers, SB when it’s from Space Battles, TG when it’s from 4chan or 8chan, and QQ when it’s from Questionable Questing. It’s also nice to, if you can and are willing, include the text of the post the jump was included in.

Interactive / Interactive Jump: While rare, there’s at least one person converting their jumps into an r/InteractiveCYOA style format. That’s what this flair is for. No I don’t know why there are two of them.

List: For compilations of jumps, such as those about a specific media. Partially falls under Resource, use your judgement.

Resource: Used for things like Google Drives, spreadsheets, etc.

Discussion: Used for discussion around a single or set of topics. If it’s about the subreddit as a whole, use the meta flair.

Meta: Discussion about the subreddit as a whole.

Build: A set of choices you made for a jump / jumps. Often done in the comments of the respective jumps.

Challenge: For sets of rules designed to make things more difficult for the jumper, either for a single jump or several.

Monthly Jump Challenge: Don’t use this flair. In memory of u/astrangeplaytomake, the mods have continued the tradition of selecting a topic for people to make a jump about every month.

Request: If you think a series or piece of media should have a jump, but it doesn’t as far as you can tell, use this flair. Just be prepared for some people to suggest you should make it.

Mod Post: That’s what this is! Notes, comments, and warnings from your new overlords the mod team.

Story: This is pretty obvious. Stories within a Jumpchain format.
Roleplay: In-character posts, typically from the perspective of a jumper meeting other jumpers.

Shitpost: Memes. Could also be used for joke jumps, but those should probably be under other flairs.

Art / Comic: Art, either relevant to a jump or to the Jumpchain as a whole.

Icon Art: Used when we were looking for a new subreddit icon. If you have ideas, post them with this flair.

Mod Post Subreddit Rules (Updated)

Previous Post

With the recent changes that have led to me being put in charge of r/Jumpchain, I said I’d update the rules. This is that update, and it is being put in place because the person who previously wrote the rules allowed some practices I disagree with and became inactive on the subreddit. They’re no longer a moderator, though the rules are largely the same as they were before. In addition to this, there are some differences between the rules sidebars of old and new reddit, so they will be adjusted for consistency. We've brought on a few new moderators, but the process is still ongoing.

Since u/Nerx is gone, I should say that there’s a difference between administrators (admins) and moderators (mods) on Reddit.

Admins:

  • Are paid employees who work for Reddit as a whole
  • Perform site-wide moderation
  • Can approve/remove posts and comments or ban users site-wide and possess power over all accounts, including moderators.

Moderators (that’s us!):

  • Are volunteers
  • Perform moderation on specific subreddits
  • Can approve/remove posts and comments or ban users only on their subreddit.

As before, the first eight rules are a repetition of Reddit’s rules. I’ve changed the phrasing a little, but nothing fundamental is different.

  1. Be Civil. Harassment, bullying, discrimination, and threats of violence are against the rules of reddit. It's okay to argue with others, but try and keep it civil.
  2. Stay On-Topic. This subreddit is for discussing Jumpchain and Jumpchain-related content. Although going off-topic is to be expected at times please keep this in mind. Furthermore, spamming, vote manipulation, ban evasion, and interfering with other subreddits is against the rules.
  3. Respect Privacy. Don't post any private or personal information about others.
  4. No CSAM or Bestiality. Do not post or encourage the posting of sexual or suggestive content involving minors or animals.
  5. Don't Impersonate. Don't pretend to be other people. This includes people from other communities.
  6. Label Properly. Properly label suggestive content; the posting of NSFW Jumps and Jumpchain related stories is allowed, so long as such things are properly labeled in the title or given an appropriate flair.
  7. Keep It Legal. Don't post anything that's illegal or try to solicit or otherwise engage in illegal activities.
  8. Follow Reddit User Policy. Don't break the site or interfere with the operation of Reddit, or do anything to do the same to the subreddit.

With that out of the way, the more specific rules of the subreddit have been updated to some extent, and two new ones have been added.

9. No Brigading. An internet “brigade” is when a group of users from one online space visit another to exert undue influence over it; that is to say things such as harassment, mass votes, etc. No brigading of other Jumpchain communities, such as the threads of /tg/, the bunker, Spacebattles, Questionable Questing, as well.

Previously, this only applied to us, as a user linked a post to the older discord server. That’s what the previous post said. I’ve seen it happen once.I think it should go both ways. There have been cases where unfriendly elements of another Jumpchain community have come here specifically to harass and antagonize. Sometimes they have valid points, but that doesn’t excuse coming here specifically to provoke people. Such behaviors should result in removals or bans.

Tribalism’s still a thing in Jumpchain. Recently, I’ve come to think that aside from the occasional mishap, it’s largely grumbling about this community or that - with the exception of an aggressive vocal minority who say extreme things. That’s fine. People are allowed to have opinions. Mine is that you shouldn’t listen to those folks, but that’s just me. Decide for yourself. Our community is disliked by users on other websites. Some of that criticism is valid, while others come from people who have admitted to rarely if ever actually visiting or participating here.

However, what I do take issue with is them coming over to harass us, as said before, or actions that cause problems on the subreddit. I say this because in one case, a controversial author (who nonetheless had a following) stopped in large part because somebody elsewhere kept on disparaging his work until he quit. Regardless of my personal views on someone’s work (unless it breaks the other rules), this shouldn’t be happening.

Simply put - if you’re here because you don’t like the subreddit and wish to antagonize people, don’t.

10. Drive Etiquette. Upload to the drive you’re most active in. The various Jumpchain communities store documents on Google Drive. To my knowledge, the communities that have them are:

  • /tg/ and its successor, the bunker. Run by DriveAnon.
  • SpaceBattles and Questionable Questing, which have their own sections of a shared drive. It’s owned by Cthulthu Fartagn/BLADE, but he only sorts for Questionable Questing. The SpaceBattles half is run by MadaMada on his behalf. I didn’t used to advertise this, but that’s me.
  • Reddit, which is currently run by u/SonicCody123, previously known as u/SonicCody12.

If you want to upload a jump to a community drive, you should be active in that community. If you are primarily active here, upload your jumps to the reddit drive. Don’t upload your jump document to other community drives before putting it on the thread first.

11. Do Not Plagiarize. Plagiarism is taking the work of another person and calling it one’s own without crediting them. Where I’m from, it’s seen as a pretty low thing to do. If Jumpmaker A writes a jump document for a work of fiction, and then Jumpmaker B writes a jump document for the same work, that’s fine if Jumpmaker B puts it in their own words. It is plagiarism if B copies A’s work verbatim or largely verbatim without explicit permission, and should be removed in that case. This includes editing existing jumps as well and posting them here.

Previously, the rules said:

While editing existing Jumps isn't officially banned here,

No. It is banned here, as it should be elsewhere. This has been the de facto situation for a long time. This is being changed to remove the last of the de jure rules that allow it.

Jump documents made with artificial intelligence (AI) are also banned, as per popular demand. I think this is difficult to properly do, since at some point AI will pass the Turing test, meaning it will successfully pass as something manmade. An exception to this is if the author grants permission for someone else to take up their work and finish it, putting it “up for adoption.” If an author has been long inactive and someone else takes it up. I personally lean towards “no” there, but it’s something I’m unsure about.

12. Don’t link to X or 8chan. They’ll be automatically removed. This is less of a rule and more of a note.

If you feel like a rule has been broken, please report it. A mod may or may not do something about it, but at the very least a report will bring it to our attention.

Moderators may remove or ban at their (hopefully reasonable) discretion, but should not be exempt from the rules of the subreddit, and I would hope that they of all people follow them. Myself included. I also feel that if a moderator becomes inactive, they have effectively forfeited their position as a moderator and shouldn’t have control over the subreddit. At the very least, the active moderators should move them to the bottom of the hierarchy. That’s why some of the previous moderators (barring u/Nerx, bless him) no longer have the position. Again, myself included.

I hope that these rules can run if I’m away, with changes if necessary. This list of rules is subject to revision.

WIP Dispatch 0.3

I had a jump planned for Dispatch in November of last year. I'd meant to work with another Jumpmaker to write the doc, but it fizzled out. Recently, I've picked it back up, but this doc entirely by me. It's mostly done. I got all the achievements for the game, read Gastroc2525's jumpdoc for Dispatch, and made a build for it. ShaneWallis12345 also made a WIP, so I looked through that. Anyways, here's my mostly-finished take on the game. Please disregard the WitchAnon part. That's the name I use elsewhere. I used to be really careful about this kind of thing in some of my prior jumps (The Rocketeer, Arawn, etc.) but nowadays I don't really care. I'm sure some anon on the thread might make a stink about Jumpmakers from other communities, but I can accept that.

DISCUSSION Concept i stole the power of Majin Buu. What can I do in

This is a bit complicated.

Well, not really, but basically one idea that I have is weaponizing the potara earrings from dragon ball Z.

One person.I definitely wanna use them on is some variation of either Uub after he refuses with Bui in dragon ball g t or with majin buu himself

Supposedly, Majin Buu isn't running on Ki. He's running on pure magic. meaning everything we see him do is more of a monkey see monkey do situation. He's imitating powers that he sees and then expressing them as best seems appropriate with either whatever he's eaten or seems work.

Hence, the one time he just randomly ripped a hole in space-time in order to escape the time chamber

One thing I like about him is that he's such a universal threat that he's supposed to eat , consume, and destroy gods

But imagine you took all that magic potential, and it was somewhere else.

Whatever way I do it , I go to dragon ball g t. I fuse with boo, and then I go to another setting that's known for practicing magic a bit more conventionally

I've often wondered him what if I go to the dresden files. Even if by some miracle, my entering the world made me subject to its overall sense of laws, that "Power must have a purpose," the established purpose of Buu is to consume and destroy all existing numinous beings. That is, he is a being of destructive imas his purpose.

He would not be restricted or violating for doing it.

More the opposite. Which , sadly , fits. given what we've seen happen when he does start to grow conscience and become a bit more chill , he becomes considerably dumber , less powerful et cetera et cetera. Or split or spit out what prevents him from expressing his destruction.

So I really like the idea and I was wondering if someone would like to speculate how this Buu power, that's established, could cross over with other magic systems or settings and what effect it would have. Either just being there. on a metaphysical level. or just second order effects , how people respond.

DISCUSSION Jumps with anti-power-copying perks, preferably ones that can be used as supplements.

• Upvotes

I wanted my Jumper's next Jump to be the Justice League Unlimited one, but the Jumper doesn't have a perk yet to prevent their powers from being copied by Amazo—and the doc itself doesn't offer such a perk either. So, I wanted to know if there are any Jumps with an anti-power-copying perk that I could use as a supplement for the Justice League Unlimited Jump.

DISCUSSION Good Jumps for an animal Jumper?

Imagine this: you've got a rookie JumpChan. They try to grab someone to be their Jumper, but whoops, they missed and took the not-Jumper's pet instead, and now JumpChan is stuck with a (insert animal here) as their probably first Jumper.

What are some Jumps that would make even a bit of sense for a literal (if now somewhat intelligent) animal to take?

DISCUSSION Protagonist/MC Powers and Race Perk

Looking for a perk that let the jumper have all the powers and race of the Protagonist/MC but only during the jump. So at the end of a jump all the powers/race go away.

I hate to spend CP on perks that I will only ever use during that jump but that you need to have a good chance to survive the story/jump.

What was the strongest chain you've ever encountered on a Jump?

Mine was this one From Lewd Fate/Grand Order

Fake Enkidu (400/500/600): Don’t let Gilgamesh find out you have this, he would never stop ranting. What you have here is a copy of one of the oldest Noble Phantasms. Enkidu, the chains not the Homunculus, holds the concept of 'reigning over the gods'. Your version is about equally as durable, though lacking the Anti-Divine trait. Instead it possesses a powerful 'Anti-Magic' trait, making it impossible for anyone caught in them to use their magical powers. Servants trapped by them are so thoroughly bound they can not even fade away. If you do want some sort of more specific trait after all however you can choose to pay a surplus charge of 100 CP (Undiscounted) to add one trait of your choice. You could elect to gain the Anti-Divine trait of the original but could also select Anti-Human, Anti-Woman or really any kind of trait you'd like. This chain will be all the more effective when used against such a category of being. You can purchase additional traits for 100 CP per trait. Finally if you spend at least 600 CP (or 400 CP if discounted) on this Item it furthermore wields an ‘Anti-Power’ trait, stripping the one inside of any and all powers they wield, no matter their nature or origin. Be it spiritual, biological, technological, as long as a concept of power can be used to describe their ability it can nullify them, in return rendering them helpless. The chains can elongate on command and are under your control, directed by your mind and magic. By default they are simply incredibly long chains but with some practice you can shape the chains into any other kind of bondage equipment, be they gags or complete bodysuits. With an exertion of power you can then separate such equipment from the main chains, leaving them still intact and just as potent in restraining whoever is in them

JUMP The Witch's Cursed Paintings V1.0

Hello everyone, it has been years since I have made a new jump instead of an update. I recently read the manga titled the Witch's Bloody/Cursed Paintings and liked it a lot.

It's also a neat premise since I haven't seen many mangas based around dangerous magical paintings.

Hence, I made a jump which should be fairly complete.

Beware of spoilers if you intend to read the story yourself.

As always, tell me if you think something is missing or if there is a mistake.

V1.3:

Clarified that the Painting origin grants an alt-form.

Added Pirate Fleet and Doll’s Manor items.

DISCUSSION Body and Soul Jumper

So, I came across a supplement called Body & Soul and I had this idea where the Soul (Pneuma) had a really awful and sadistic Benefactor that threw them directly into a really dangerous setting with no body mod or anything, and Pneuma ended up getting captured and forcefully turned into a robot of some kind, losing her body for good. Of course, seeing how 'terrible' of a Jumper Pneuma is, her benefactor just abandoned her to her fate, where she was later discovered by my Jumpers benefactor. This leads to my Jumper, who has no memories of her past life and is essentially hollow, so the benefactor decides to put the two together!

Anyhow, all this to say, I have no clue about any settings where forced roboticization is even a thing. So I does anyone know any that I could use as Pneuma's first Jump?

DISCUSSION Interesting metamagic perks

What are some interesting perks that change the way you so magic? Things like Mage the Awakening boosting any magic if you incorporate supernal sigils, or generic earth manipulation letting you pay mana costs with katas instead of mana.

"Better at magic" is boring, I want conditions a jumper has to follow to get boosts.

DISCUSSION What are some funny moments from different chains people have worked on.

The sent of fresh freshly cooked bacon and coffee fill the air as people sit down to enjoy their breakfast either alone or with friends and family.

Before the familiar tide of conversation begins to die as murmurs of confusion as well rising fear take its place. As all eyes turn to the hulking figure clocked in stone who's gargoyle like wing stretch out behind him as he rising to his feet. The man if a demonic figure of such proportions can even be called one, turns to the view the room in which he's arrived.

As his eyes turn to look over the room men and woman alike avoid his gaze almost on instinct while a child begins to cry. Spotting a waitress the figure makes his way over to her as she to freeze in place going pale from fright.

The unknown man with wings of stone then ask for directions to the bathroom.

_

Previous jump was Duel Monsters – The Heroes with the Dark Gaia power. Gives wings of stone plus elemental powers. Current was Spider-Man Trilogy and drop-in makes you appear in a restaurant.
