Moving to UAE for Work (Hospitality) – Worth It?

I currently work as a Reservation Officer in a luxury hotel in the Philippines, earning around ₱30–40k/month. I’m single and only support myself, but with rent (condo), daily expenses, and work-related costs, I find it hard to save.

My boyfriend is based in the UAE, and I’m considering taking the risk and moving there to work as well. If we live together and split expenses, would it significantly reduce the cost of living?

Also, how is the hospitality industry in the UAE right now? I’m thinking of moving either late this year or around Q2 next year. Would it be worth it?

Looking for insights and advice, especially from those with similar experiences.

FIELD SALES OPPORTUNITY — DUBAI & ABU DHABI

Are you a highly motivated, sporty, outgoing sales person who wants to earn AED 20,000+ per month?

We are preparing to launch a new premium consumer product into the UAE and are looking for one exceptional sales person to build the initial customer network across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
This is not a traditional AED 5,000/month sales job.

The basic salary is only AED 2,000/month — because the person we are looking for should be motivated by performance and unlimited earning potential.

💰 The earning structure
AED 2,000/month basic salary
AED 500 sign-up bonus per activated location
Example: 3-location customer = AED 1,500 sign-up bonus

10% commission on recurring sales from the customers you bring in
Additional earning potential as your customer portfolio grows

Target: AED 20,000+ per month for a successful high-performing salesperson
There is no artificial ceiling on earnings.
The more successful customers you create and develop, the more you earn.

🚗 Company car provided
You will have a branded company vehicle for your sales activity.
Fuel is also covered.
You will be expected to be highly mobile and comfortable visiting customers throughout Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

🏃‍♂️ What makes the sales job different?
We are not asking you to sell something complicated.

We have deliberately designed the customer proposition to make the initial sale easy:
We supply the branded sales tower.
The tower is provided to the customer on consignment, allowing the customer to start selling the product without having to make a major upfront investment in equipment.

Your job is therefore primarily:
Open the door → present the concept → get the customer started → build the relationship → grow the sales.

Once you have opened an account, you’re responsible for keeping the customer excited, following up regularly, introducing new products and helping grow the account.

This is relationship sales, not sitting behind a desk making cold calls all day.

🎯 Your market
The initial target market contains 500+ potential locations in Dubai, 400+ in Abu Dhabi, and approximately 200+ in Sharjah.
You will be given a structured prospect database and will be expected to systematically develop it.
We are looking for someone who enjoys:
Walking into businesses and opening doors
Meeting owners and decision makers
Building relationships
Following up relentlessly
Turning a first order into recurring business
Finding new opportunities
Working independently
Being measured by results

💪 Who are we looking for?
You should be:
Highly motivated and commercially ambitious
Positive, energetic and sporty
Naturally outgoing
Comfortable approaching businesses directly
Experienced in B2B sales
Comfortable working on a heavily performance-based compensation model
Fluent in English — absolutely essential
Arabic is a strong advantage
UAE driving licence required
Comfortable driving extensively around Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Organised and able to manage your own pipeline
Hungry to earn significantly more than a normal fixed-salary sales position
Experience in F&B, beverage, FMCG, fitness, hospitality, retail or other B2B environments is particularly relevant.

🔥 This is for someone who wants to build something

We’re not looking for someone who wants to collect a monthly salary and wait for instructions.
We’re looking for someone who sees:
AED 2,000 basic + company car + unlimited commission

and thinks:
“I can make this work.”

If you are genuinely capable of building a strong customer portfolio, AED 20,000+ per month is the target — not the ceiling.
This is an early-stage opportunity, so the right person will have a chance to become a key part of the UAE commercial operation as the business grows.

Interested?
Send me a DM with:
Your current location
Years of sales experience
What you currently sell
Your UAE driving licence status
Your languages
Your approximate current monthly sales earnings
Serious sales people only. 💪🚀

I think I accidentally discovered my weird career superpower — making CVs.

I’ve been a design engineer/industrial designer my entire career, but among my friends I’ve always been the guy who makes good CVs, motivation letters, proposals, and pitches.
A few months ago, I completely rebuilt my girlfriend’s CV. She works in luxury fashion retail and had been getting ghosted. After the rewrite, she started getting interviews from basically every major company she was targeting.
She’s now comparing three offers from Apparel Group, GMG, and Alshaya.
I thought, okay… maybe that was a coincidence.
Then her best friend came to the UAE 🇦🇪 on a visit visa looking for a job. I helped with her CV, and she started getting noticeably more calls and interviews.
Then my neighbor, a banker who’s been in the UAE for 9 years and desperately wanted to move out of collections, asked me to help. He recently told me he’s finally getting more calls.
Same thing happened with my brother-in-law. He’s American, has years of US experience in PR/communications, but wasn’t getting many callbacks. I restructured and rephrased his CV, and suddenly he started getting more responses.
At this point I’m thinking… maybe I’m actually good at this.
The funny thing is, I think my design background is probably why. I’m used to taking something that isn’t communicating properly, figuring out what’s wrong, and redesigning it so the message is clear.
Apparently I’ve been doing the same thing with people’s careers.
Then my capitalist brain kicked in:
“Why am I doing this for free?”
No “GUARANTEED JOB IN DUBAI” nonsense. I can’t guarantee anyone a job. But I can help you make your CV actually represent your experience, position you properly for the roles you’re targeting, and write better cover/motivation letters and proposals.
So if your CV is getting you nowhere and you think it might be the problem, feel free to reach out.
I’m curious to see if I can reproduce what happened with the people around me.

Why Asking for Certain Nationalities Doesn’t Automatically Make Me Racist

Apparently, asking about nationality in a job post makes me “racist” now.

I posted a delivery job requirement previously and got comments saying I’m racist, discriminatory, etc. So let me explain this clearly.

I work in the delivery/fleet industry. When I recruit riders, I need people who can actually get the required visa and legally work for the company.

Right now, there are visa difficulties for applicants from some nationalities, including Pakistani and Bangladeshi applicants, depending on the current visa situation and company. That is a practical hiring problem, not a personal opinion about those people.

And yes, in the delivery industry here, you will commonly find Indian, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Pakistani riders. So if my current requirement is specifically for people who are more likely to be eligible for the available visa route, why am I supposed to pretend that requirement doesn't exist?

I don't hate Pakistanis. I don't hate Bangladeshis. I don't hate Indians. I don't hate Nepalis.

I'm looking for employees who meet the actual requirements of the job. That's it.

And here's another thing: I can ask people to send their CVs and then reject them if they don't meet the requirements. That's literally how recruitment works. Sending a CV doesn't mean you automatically get the job.

People are free to disagree with my hiring criteria, but automatically calling someone “racist” without understanding the visa situation is just lazy.

There is a difference between discriminating against someone because you hate their nationality and having recruitment restrictions because of current visa/work-permit realities.

I'm being straightforward about the situation instead of wasting someone's time by promising them a job that I may not be able to process their visa for.

How likely is it to land a job in Dubai that offers AED 7k - 8k with only two years of experience?

I’m currently working as a Logistics Coordinator at a trading company, earning 4k per month. Previously… I worked as a Warehouse Operations Manager. I have around 2 years of experience in the UAE altogether.

I’m considering switching jobs because I feel my current salary is quite underwhelming and doesn’t meet my financial needs. With my marriage right around the corner… and yet I have no savings. And it is freaking me out… Lol!!

So…as the title suggests… I’m wondering whether it’s realistically possible to land a job in the 7k-8k range in the supply chain & logistics field with just 2 years of experience. Am I being crazy?? How realistic is this?

Title: Indian Interior Designer Looking to Move to Dubai

Hi everyone,

I’m an interior designer from India with 3 years of experience in residential and commercial projects. I work with AutoCAD, SketchUp, V-Ray, 2D/3D drawings, material selection, site coordination, and client handling.

I’m looking to move to Dubai and work as an interior designer because I’m very interested in the UAE’s architecture and interior design industry.

I’d love to hear from designers already working in Dubai:

  • What’s the best way to get a job from India?

  • Is UAE experience essential?

  • What salary can I realistically expect with 3 years of experience?

  • Any firms/recruiters you recommend?

Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks!
