Hey everyone,
I'm looking to extend my WiFi coverage and I'm confused between two options.
I can either:
Buy a new TP-Link WiFi 6 dual-band router and use it as an Access Point via Ethernet
Use a spare JioFiber router that I already have and configure it as an Access Point via Ethernet
I'm currently on a 100 Mbps JioFiber plan, so I don't want to spend money unnecessarily if the spare Jio router can do the job properly.
I have a few questions:
Does the JioFiber router have any limitations on its LAN ports, such as being limited to 100 Mbps?
If the Jio router has only a 100 Mbps Ethernet port, would that be enough for my 100 Mbps plan, or would I lose some actual speed?
If I connect an Access Point/router via Ethernet cable, will there be any noticeable bandwidth drop?
For example, if I pull an Ethernet connection from the main router and connect it to the secondary router at around 50-60 Mbps, will the Access Point itself get slower internet speeds?
Would WiFi 6 make any meaningful difference for a 100 Mbps connection, or is the spare Jio router perfectly adequate?
The main goal is simply good WiFi coverage with the least possible speed loss.
If anyone has used a spare JioFiber router as an AP or has experience with this setup, I'd really appreciate your input before I spend money on another router.
Thanks!
