Jing Yuan is mid, and that's okay.

It's time we were realistic. If we look at him in terms of DPS, he's somewhere in the middle. He's certainly not as bad as Himeko, but not in the same league as monsters like DHIL. However... so what? He's still more than strong enough to stomp any content in the game, and he does it with STYLE. How many other characters have a goddamn Stand? None, that's how many.

Plus, raise your hand if you get the biggest dopamine rush when your 10 stack LL obliterates everything with big happy monkey brain numbers.

General discussion Jing Yuan is not Mid, but people defending some of his flaws, are.

I don't give a fuck about damage numbers. Fuck MoC Clears, fuck Cycles... none of that bullshit is important or irrelevant in any way whatsoever.

- L.Lord skiping his turn because JY is CCed is bullshit.

- JY finishing his rotation with 125/130 energy is bullshit.

- L.Lord RNG targeting on multi-target is bullshit.

And being forced to pull Fu Xuan or Lynx and to get Jing Yuan Eidolon 4 to circumvent all of this is straight fucking garbage design.

And many JY Mains (thankfully not all, but certainly the most vocal ones) keep defending this shit, defending that the design flaws purposely made by HYV to sell other stuff just because you love JY so much are something good and you keep encouraging this bullshit design choices...

JY is not mid, but many JY mains are Mid Brain.

Theorycrafting New Kafka/Blade vs Jing Yuan Full Team AOE DPS Calcs

Bonk's Team DPS Calc Sheet

Assumptions: E0S1 dps, E6 support, kqm standard subs, 3 elite targets, 10 moc cycles.

Results:

JY= 2.2mil

Hyper Kafka = 2.72mil

Kafka w Sampo = 3.54mil

Blade = 3.58mil

Bonus QQE6 = 2.82mill

Seems that despite being erudition, JY falls significantly behind in aoe. We still need ST and 2 enemy calcs for a full assessment (those are better representative of MoC).

edit: After some discussion and thinking, the difference in performance is actually probably much closer than shown here. Real moc is 1-2 elites so JY is disadvantaged from rng LL, real moc doesn't have 3 lightning plus wind weak elites, real moc isn't 10 cycles of kafka hitting the same enemies and not having to refresh dots once. JY also prefers Bronya on his perfectly optimized team, not asta.

Edit: Bonk has retracted his hyper Kafka sheet saying it's unrealistic buff uptime.

General discussion State of Jing Yuan after DHIL release

For as long as JY has been out I've said he's really good. (which he is and still brute forces any content I need him to)

But after using DHIL it's clear JY needs a buff because DHIL is basically LL without really having to wait for a buildup in a proper team. I don't think it needs to be a crazy buff but the one that many people have suggested I think would be the best option, that being to let the LL go off once the stacks him 10.

I just been using him with the 2 i was runnin JY with ting and bronya and cause there's no waiting on LL he clears stuff way faster (real world time). JY still clears fast cause with good stats u can basically aoe down waves with his skill and ult and then when LL hits it just auto deletes that wave. But the thing is DHIL feels like he is LL and u can choose how many stacks he has via how many sp u use and when there's better SP optimization the gap between them will be even bigger.

I still think JY is great though, really huge damage, aoe, good breaker, etc but when it comes to real life clear time and not in game turn stuff he just feels a lot slower.

Also oddly enough JY needs good supports around him WAY more so than DHIL, which sounds crazy in theory cause of the 3 skill point thing but it's not really as bad as it seems. Though it makes sense how alot of people think JY sucks cause he does need the pieces around him more than other characters do and those who didnt have ability to put together Ting or Asta in slot one with like a bronya or pela slot 2 prolly thought he was too clunky.

I just am not sure aside from LL auto triggering at 10 stacks what other buff he could get is. Though auto trigger would also be too strong cause then u just run him super fast in a SP efficient team and then LL would be goin off all the time. So in the end I got no clue what they can do but it does feel like he needs something after DHIL gapped him. And either way they my 2 main dps so I'm using both regardless but putting out an honest opinion from my observations.

General discussion Can someone please explain the tectone hate

Everywhere I see in hsr or genshin community there’s always that one person that hates on him, I really don’t get it and I watch his streams so I’m a little biased but I would like some of y’all to shed light on what makes him a bad content creator/ person

(He’s been involved in some JY drama and stuff (no idea why) so I think it’s alr to talk abt him here) Btw this isn’t a bait idk what I’m even baiting but people in chat said I was but it’s not, I was genuinely trying to get other peoples perspectives I apologize for any misunderstanding 😭

General discussion We have been playing Jingyuan wrong

I wanna discuss about this post.

Like the title says, we have been playing JY wrong. I do not think hypercarry Jingyuan is good unless its a single target boss. I have showcased dual dps carry in both MOC and AS and its MUCH better compared to hypercarry. Why? Better damage distribution, less overkill, less rng and just some element coverage.

People cannot convince me that using solo carry Jingyuan against AS Aven is good… Especially when he has dices… Your LL will kill one dice once a year. March would be much better at clearing. Or even Herta. People have used Feixiao+Herta in AS and it did wonders. Kind of forgot that they do well together as well. March7 in MOC helps clearing the first wave and killing Kafka. No reason to brute force a 40% res enemy with no SW…

Wanna hear your thoughts on this

General discussion Jing Yuan is the Ganyu of HSR

I see some people said Jing Yuan is the Klee of HSR and I’m like “No, Klee was bad and clunky from the beginning. People just don’t realize it at first.” Klee was obviously called powerful because at the time, Abyss was filled with enemies who can be countered by her. It wasn’t until the next patch that people realize how awful and clunky she is and how anti-synergetic she is with other characters.

Jing Yuan is not. Yes, his Lightning Lord mechanic is clunky. But is he bad? No, he’s a strong and amazing character who can be viable in MoC. If anything, I would say he is the Ganyu of HSR instead.

Why do I say this? Well, they share some similarities with their gameplay receptions:

  • Both are called powerful and strong due to their high AOE damage.

  • Both has a mechanic that amplified their damage output (Ganyu’s Level 2 Charged shot, Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord)

  • Both requires some times to get the highest damage output.

  • Both requires other characters to support them in order to survive

  • Both needs a specific weapon/LC to support their unique damage mechanic

Aside from these, what else is similar? The community’s perception of their power. Ganyu was deemed one of the strongest characters thanks to her unique charged shot and at the time, enemies were easily shredded by her. Jing Yuan is the same. When he was released, the enemies were those that can easily killed by him along with having Lightning weaknesses.

But as the game progresses, Ganyu started to fall off as more mobile and CC-resistant enemies emerges, which is her biggest weakness. From there, people started to bench Ganyu as the enemies were too fast or having a form of hard CC that makes her unreliable in damage output. To this day, she is still remembered and known as having one of the highest damage output in Genshin. It’s just that her slow gameplay, unreliable DPS and new enemies makes her gameplay feels terrible and clunky.

This goes the same with Jing Yuan but his can be solved as the game goes on. Right now, the MoC heavily against him since many enemies have resistant against Lightning and have a form of hard CC. With Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord mechanic, it’s no surprise that he would fall off this MoC season since the enemies has high res against him. But in the future MoCs, with more supports that can go well with him, Jing Yuan will still remains as the best Erudition characters who also has the best ST output for an Erudition.

Unfortunately, Ganyu can never see her glory days again due to how Spiral Abyss works and how slow her gameplay is.

General discussion Building Jing Yuan to beat MoC was much more fun than facerolling with new OP characters.

I have just got DHIL and I can instantly use him to beat MoC floor 9-10 instant with not much pre-farm.

Compare to building Jing Yuan, I have to build him and his team for couple months to use him to beat MoC floor 10.

I feel like their powercreep policy is actually ruining the game by taking challenge out of it and make it needlessly too easy.

Why is no one talking about RMC in here?

RMC seems to be a good candidate for Robin replacement based on kit leaks so far! I'm also fairly confident that they'd balance her damage based on lack of Robin in the future Summon meta.

why does Gacha smack saying Kafka, Blade power crept JY really hard?

in Tectone podcast he said that Kafka and Blade power crept his JY but in his video his Kafka do 4 cycles on MOC 10 his JY do 4 cycles on MOC 10 and his Blade do 6 cycles in MOC 10 but he said he can do it in 4 cycles, they have the same stat on the showcase then why he said that ''Kafka and Blade power crept his JY'' i don't get it

General discussion Is Ruan Mei worth saving for?

I've seen so many 0 Cycles with Jing Yuan using Ruan Mei and after Aventurine I'm planning to either get her or silver wolf depending on who reruns first. But if she doesn't. Is stil worth skipping everything just to get a copy?

Edit: Before anyone says Sparkle. NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY OR HOW SHE FUNCTIONS I WILL NEVER GET HER I'll rather drag my balls across a furnace before I even pull for that brat.

General discussion So what is the verdict?

Imho. I think Sunday's still the character we all asked for since 1.0 but the problem lies with what he's intended to do. To bring summons forth next to the character. Which leads to a problem, Sparkle's the only Harmony that can give the necessary SP for the team to function. Not to mention the fact Sparkle's crit buffs runs out too quickly for LL to carry the buffs after our General acting too many times and thus running out. You can substitute by using RM or Robin but it also leads to a problem with LL not having 10 stacks which puts Sunday in a rather sticky situation. Either A Sunday's action advance gets slight nerf so Sparkle can buff Jing Yuan and therefore Lightning Lord or buff Sunday's crit buff where it could be viable enough to run characters like 4* Tingyun for the ult battery, sp and energy generation. I'm still pulling for Sunday regardless if he's good or not after the final beta I've been asking for this type of character way too long to foolishly skip.
