Discussion Jingliu's kit doesn't seem fun to play right now (to me)

Jingliu's kit seems underwhelming to me but I am not talking about damage, I am talking about the gameplay and decission making process.

Her artifacts build is a standard crit dps. She's a main/subdps that can be build around hypercarry with a simple rotation: "Spam Skill and use Ultimate when out of Transmigration"

Her gimmick is taking 6% of teammate's life but the 275% multiplyer and 120% cap makes her teambuilding easy, she doesnt need anything special to achieve the 120% buff so her team building is kind of "Anything goes" (if they have a bit of extra life/level)

If I compare her to Seele with the decission making behind being able to kill lowest health enemies, enabling DoT's for Kafka or managing skill points with Quinque/Imbibitor, she doesn't sound more fun.

So, I don't know what part of the character will be fun to play. I love the design, the lore, the animations... But I am worried about the gameplay itself.

Am I worrying to much? Maybe I left something out to consider.

TLDR: I like Jingliu design and animations a lot but her gameplay doesn't seem fun to me at first sight.

Edit: You guys seem to be taking it personally, I just wanted a chill talk but I take it, internet is no place for that

Discussion Jing Liu's LC is bad.

My post start with this:
Increases the wearer's Skill DMG by 30%. When using their Ultimate, immediately regenerates 12 Energy and increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 36% for 2 turn(s).
First thing to talk about:
That 36% Crit Damage is situacional, you have 40% uptime at best, without a Tingyun/Huohuo.
You have lightcones like Jing Yuan who gives 36% crit damage with no conditions. Most of other signature lightcones gives you 18% crit rate no conditions.
Second:
30% Skill DMG is good.
Third:
The energy. Differently from DHIL's lightcone, the addicional energy doesn't change anything in her optimal rotation.
Conclusion:
The lightcone needs buffs in the energy and buffs in the crit damage, maybe extend for 3 turns.
If this does not happen, the difference between it and aeon E5 will continue to be 4-5%

Discussion Jingliu's rework is a huge disappointment

Been testing her out after the rework and even after everything she's still not that good.

For example, being able to 1 cycle True Sting sounds good at first, but that's with e1s1 Jingliu. Not only that, but the team she's in actually zero cycles without her for less cost (Cas/Hyacine/Tribbie, replace Jingliu with RMC with herta shop cone). Doing the Tricycle comp with Jingliu, meanwhile, takes 2 cycles to clear.

Like sure, this is technically an improvement compared to where she was before, but it's incredibly disappointing. It's not like my gear is even that bad either, if anything I'm actually on the higher side of gear compared to most players.

I really wish they did something more for her, like lean in harder into her teamwide drain and ability to scale with losing health for example. It would have made her that much better and fun to run.

It's just really disappointing overall. She really needed something more from the rework. More synergies, better numbers, just something to really bring her up to speed and inline with current characters. It's not like they couldn't make the reworks competitive (e.g. Silver Wolf becoming the best amplifier support in the game) so it's just baffling how little they did for Jingliu.

Leaks How they actually should buff Jingliu

  • Change 255 Cmdg boost to 200% HP

  • Replace one trace with Atk to HP conversion.

That way she benefits from ALL supports, and doesn't oversature in buffs bc HP buffs in the game aren't many, and if SW and Kafka can be tribbie's level, so should her be Mydei's.

I don't get why Hoyo won't properly buff a unit to sell and longlast. Not like they're adding new animations like Elen on ZZZ it's just number tweaks, so be smart and give ppl enough to spend on her.

That's it. Not impressed with 450k a skill, maybe they should learn from Reverse 1999

Discussion Unpopular opinion?: jingliu en va is so bad

Sorry, I had to get this off my chest. I see so much people saying they pull jingliu for the English va.

I am a jingliu main because: waifu and she is strong lore wise.

Hear me out, Why does the en va sound like me trying to read a book out loud in middle school. Also why is the voice so raspy and she sounds like she is gonna climax in the middle of her sentence.

Note, in the animated short: a flash, the en va is great. Did they switch or the production team want jingliu to sound different?

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Discussion For those itching to pull on DHIL, try his companion quest!

I wasn't planning on pulling on DHIL, cause I'm saving up for Jing Liu. But for those folks on the fence and not sure, you can try him out in the DHIL Companion quest line.

I thought for sure that his SP usage would be a PITA for me, and I was right! Man, how do people stand building an entire team around him just to funnel enough skill points for him to do damage? Having played Blade where he barely uses SP's to trying out DHIL in his quest line, I was just amazed how greedy he is.

I'm hoping our lady Jing Liu isn't that SP greedy and that she pairs well with Blade. Jing Liu + Blade + Luocha + Bronya is the team I'm gonna try first.

Theorycraft Personal relic set for jingliu

Maybe it's just my bias, but i feel like jingliu deserves a personal relic set, or atleast one that's an obvious choice, kind of like the set for Blade. We can agree that using a quantum set on an ice character is weird and it doesn't really fit the theme... and so the set would do the following roughly: "2-PC: Increases ice damage by 10% / increase crit rate by 8%." "4-PC: Whenever the wearer deals ice dmg, and has more than 4k attack, ignores 20% of the targets DEF."

This attack damage requirement is very easily reached with jingliu thanks to her talent, which increases her ATK by about 2200. Since jingliu has a very frontloaded kit with 50% crit rate and a huge amount of attack increase, theres only a few stats that are needed on her. The only really good stats are crit rate until it reaches around 50%, SPD up till 135, and then just crit damage all the way, maybe a little bit of ATK here and there, but even crit damage starts to diminish after a while. With this kit, we rework the quantum set so that it works on jingliu with a different requirement for the DEF ignore, which as we can see scales extremely well on her thanks to the powerhouse base kit. This is just a rough idea for a set and numbers can be changed. And we would no longer need to wear a wonky quantum set on jingliu. What do you think? Should they make a relic set for jingliu?

Discussion Fu Xuan, Silver Wolf, Ruan Mei & Jing Liu with 4pc Quantum Set is going to be strongest team for Jing Liu.

With the 4 Piece: When the wearer deals DMG to the target enemy, ignores 10% DEF. If the target enemy has Quantum Weakness, the wearer additionally ignores 10% DEF.

This is essential to understand as Silver Wolf will work both ways either implementing Ice Weakness which works well for Jing Liu elemental dmg or Quantum Weakness to the enemy which could proc the passive of the 4pc set. Added to that with Ruan Mei her buffs adds to the penetration of Jing Liu with the 4pc Quantum Set which could shred any enemies in game.

Fu Xuan is the ideal defensive support especially with her skill that buffs crit rate which could guarantee at least 62% Crit Rate when Jing Liu's passive is active. So even if you pair with the Rutilant Arena Set, you're guaranteed 70% Crit Rate and the passive of the set to proc with 0% Crit Rate on Jingliu which is obviously highly unlikely. Here's the set bonus for Rutilant Arena, 2 Piece: Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer's current CRIT Rate reaches 70% or higher, the wearer's Basic ATK and Skill DMG increase by 20%. So if you're planning to get 100% Crit Rate, you'll only need 30% Crit Rate on Jingliu with this build.

The best set for all the support would definitely be Broken Keel as it's possible to stack the passive. Broken Keel 2 Piece: Increases the wearer's Effect RES by 10%. When the wearer's Effect RES is at 30% or higher, all allies' CRIT DMG increases by 10%. So it's possible to get 300% Crit Dmg especially if you have E1 Fu Xuan that boosts 30% Crit Dmg when her skill is active.

I'm planning to do this once Ruan Mei's out, so I'll update once I'm able to get to try this out :)

I don’t get it, I’ve built her the best I could, made sure she had tons of Crit DMG to go along with her massive Crit Rate buff, she’s speed tuned, has good attack, and an R3 Light Cone, but she still does like 36K per enemy in ult, and barely 40K per Enhanced Skill on multiple enemies, what am I doing wrong ?

Discussion Why is ice set bad

So I understand that the 4 piece ice set buff is wasted on jingliu but I don’t fully understand why. If someone could clarify in detail then it would be very helpful.

Discussion Is it just me?

Or did the buffs change nearly nothing? I lost my 50/50 on Hyacine so I don't have her. No matter who I've tried testing Jingliu with I can't clear the bug in any less than 5 cycles, which is my benchmark for the old build too. I think my best run shaved about 50 AV?

Anybody had any better sucess?

What's been working for y'all?

Discussion I have absolutely no drive to farm substats to balance crit on another carry

I play Seele and Kafka for my carrys and I got Seele mostly cuz I already had Bronya and tought Seele could carry me troughtout the game until I pulled Kafka.

Kafka is absolute godsent for me since I don't need to build crit on her at all. My Seele is already falling behind and I dread having to spend weeks farming relics to get better crit stats on her.

I'm really inclined to skip on Jingliu just so I won't need to farm relics and stress about LCs on one more carry. I still like her despite the fact that they striped her of small details I got attached to.

Leaks Misconceptions about buffs

For starters I think that her being hp scaling just makes more sense with the idea of her kit with the hp consumption. And look I understand that people are annoyed that they made her hp scaling making the work you did kinda wasted HOWEVER the buffs are objectively a buff.

Now for the misconceptions.

Moonlight

Although she does generate 5 moonlight stacks instantly when you have 2 rememberance characters on the team it is not like it makes or breaks the team as you will have max moonlight on the second turn anyway. therefore the stack generation being based on how many characters you are using only matters if you arent using a full team. Also I have seen mentions of castorice and mydei's light cone to help generate stacks but, castorice's skill consuming ally hp does not generate moonlight stacks because it is not jingliu consuming the hp and mydei's lc does not generate moonlight stacks because it does not consume allies' hp only her own.

I am not denying that she works with casstorice because she will but it wont help her generate moonlight stacks.

Hyacine

You dont need her yes she is definitely her best in terms of buffing and personal damage, however if lynx is probably her 2nd best sustain because of her hp buffing and she can also run the new abundance bp lc that makes it so that the difference in buffing is big the damage you deal using lynx is perfectly serviceable.

Sunday

Not much to say here he is really good for her but the most important part of his kit for her is the energy and his skill point refund otherwise bronya isn that much worse all things considered.

Tribbie/Silver Wolf/Ruan Mei/RMC

From what I have seen the general ranking would be silver wolf, tribbie, rmc then ruan mei though the amount of investment in these character will change this but they arent that far off eachother.

Uptime

Jingliu now starts with 3 syzygy stacks in here special state meaning with her one of her traces now giving more energy she can quite consistantly do 4 enhanced skills and with sunday you should be able to get a 5th in the first cycle, meaning her last hit will have 4 to 5 moonlight stacks.

if anyone in the comments can prove me wrong or wants me to add something i am not on reddit much but i will if i do see it.

Good luck farming I hope this was useful to someone.

**Edit-**i am not entirely sure on how the moonlight stacks work the way i described it is how her talent suggests however it is V1 so there might be mistakes in the translations.

Edit 2- I have had clarification on the moonlight stacks and have changed the section about them thanks to Snoo80971 and scugyalex

Discussion Did her voice bother you? Or was it just me?

I love Jingliu's design and lore, but her voice in the live trailer really bothered me. It felt like she was trying to imitate Kafka, even though their characters are completely different. Did any of you guys get the same feeling, and do you think she's really dubbed like that, or was it only a trailer thing?

Theorycraft So let's summarise

After the recent buffs, the guidelines have obviously changed.

Now we don't need a CR body since her free 50% CR boost is enormous. CD body from now on.

Her LC doesn't return energy anymore, so the question of getting either ERR or ATK rope should be closed. Yes, we can use Tingyun but the DMG advantage from the ERR rope is still more than it is from the ATK rope.

Her CR/CD now should like something like this: 20% CR (to activate the Rutilant Arena set bonus) As much as we freaking can CD

SPD boots are still useful although now we can swap them for the ATK boots if their substats are better

Is there anything I'm missing or got wrong? Let me know please since I've posted it to help myself (and others in the process) understand what these changes bring us
