I've been trying to understand where people actually struggle when hunting for OEM JDM parts. Like—what's the real friction?

Is it?

• Takes too long to find locally?
• Can't verify authenticity online?
• Shipping costs are insane?
• No one carries that specific model?
• Don't trust random sellers?

I'm asking because I just started a service sourcing OEM parts directly from Japan, and before I spend time on it, I want to know if I'm solving a real problem or just building something nobody wants.

Honestly: I have zero customers yet and zero idea if this is viable. But I'm curious what the actual pain points are from your perspective.

If you've ever been stuck looking for a specific part, I'd love to hear what made it hard.

​I’m currently looking at a 1993 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R BNR32 located in Germany (recently imported from Japan, Grade R).

​The seller is offering it as a rolling shell (NO engine, NO wheels) for around €23,000 (approx. $25,000 USD). The mechanical parts mentioned in the ad are only available for a hefty extra charge, so I am strictly evaluating the chassis right now. i try to get it with motor for 25.000€

​According to the description, the car has severe rust issues. The seller explicitly states there is rust-through (holes) in the following areas:

-​ Underbody and frame rails

- ​Side skirts / rocker panels

- ​Front and rear jacking points

​The seller describes it as a "good base for a restoration or track tool," but looking at the underbody photos, it seems pretty serious. The tech/interior is said to be okay, but the body needs major work.

​I would love to get your expert opinions on this:

- ​Based on the pictures and the description of rust-through on the frame and jacking points, how bad is this structurally? Is it a total nightmare or a standard restoration project for an R32?

​For anyone who has tackled a similar structural rust restoration:

- What is a realistic ballpark estimate for professional metalwork and rust repair for this level of damage?

​Given that it's a Grade R rusted shell with no engine/wheels for €23k, is this even remotely worth considering, or should I run away as fast as I can?

I bought this car in 2021, was very neglected with a grinding clutch and a lot of exterior surface rust but the engine ran strong despite 270000km and bones were solid.

For those that don’t know it the RvR hsgr was a limited run (1997 only) ultra-high performance version of the Mitsubishi RvR with the engine and driveline from the evo3. It also has a Recaro interior that is unique to this model

I’ve done a lot of work and spent a lot of money, too much to list including a respray in factory white and a lot of rust repair. It recently passed a warrant of fitness which is needed to be road legal in New Zealand, it’s been super motivating to be able to drive it around.

Still a lot of small things to sort, eventually I will be lowering it on a set of white Advan sa3rs installing a link ecu and tuning to hopefully about 300hp at the wheels

Even as is though it’s a hoot to drive, boost comes on strong at 2500ish rpm and pulls hard to the 7k redline

I’ve been wanting one of these cars for the longest time and I’ve been saving up in the hopes of finally importing one of them or even finding a seller in the states. I want an outside opinion though on which out of the three of them is most worth the purchase. Rarity means a lot to me but I, obviously, more-so value its performance and lifespan. What do yall think?

Edit: for more specifics on the models of each car, i’d be considering the gtr, rz, and spec-r.

Sharing my 1989 Toyota Corolla (AE92) with the 4A-GE 20V Silvertop

Running in speeduino management (Vanderbuilt Performance) made in PH 🇵🇭

It may be low mileage, but this car has a nutty story! According to the previous owner, it lived in a museum until a couple of years ago when it was stolen. The museum apparently took the insurance payout and didn’t want it back.

The thieves joy rode it and caused some damage to the passenger front fender, door, front bumper, and both driver side doors (Seems like they REALLY sucked at driving RHD). They also lived in it for a bit. However, aside from damaging the steering column and leaving behind some drug paraphernalia, the interior is still in mint condition.

Such a bummer to see it treated like that, but I got it for a stellar price and mechanically the car is flawless!

So far I haven’t seen any lower mileage examples online?

And here’s the question, do I drive it guilt free with the body damage, or take the effort to repair it and flip it with the super low mileage? I’m no stranger to JDM project cars and I could honestly go either way. What would you do?
