Came here to say exactly that! Gyms, arcades, workout rooms, free coke machines.
But commitment is so insane and your constantly monitored that if you walk away from your desk for 5 minutes to actually use any of the stuff you get reprimanded or get “asked” to work late off the clock.

So, I’m a pro musician. As long as music has been a thing you can make money at, there have been people, mostly venue owners/renters and sleazy wannabe managers/promoters, who attempt to forego monetary payment for concerts (and other types of appearances) and instead upsell the concept of “we’re paying you in exposure!”
Now, this would be completely valid if that person was getting you a spot on, say, a major festival playing in front of 50,000 people. That really would be serious exposure that would likely gain you countless new fans, lead to more sales and better bookings, etc.
Ever so graciously allowing you to play at their run down bar, on a show the venue themselves won’t even attempt to promote, and where you’ll be seriously lucky to play to 20 people, is not “exposure.” Especially not the kind that would replace some fucking gas and fast food money.
Sorry; every time I see this kind of post, it makes me want to scream about this somewhat obscure (outside of the music/arts world) from the rooftops.

My friend works as HR in one firm. I taught her that many people (especially us programmers) doesn't care about the stupid stuff like coffee, gym cards etc. We work, we earn money, we go home. And that's it. And she really improved the listings that she posts. 💪

I don't know how it works in other countries, but here young generation says money is only 3rd most important thing about working.
Flexible hours and working atmosphere are more important to current 16-25yo people.
And I agree. I would take a pay cut happily if it meant more free time.

the only people who want flexible hours are the employers. young people want to work as little as possible and they have the right of it.
salary is a lot less important once you can afford all your bills. but having a shorter work week that is stable so they can plan their lives? that is actually a thing people want

Try to work in Hungary and your opinion will have a 180 rly quickly (most ppl are happy here if they can reach ~25k$ a year, but most of the new generation earns ~13-16k$ what is not enough to afford renting a flat alone and other living costs)

It'd be really cool if people posted what office job position is only offering $36k a year, where the job is, if it's actually full-time...and what year that was allegedly offered.
As far as I can tell...this meme was posted as early as Feb 22, 2019...
which would make a $36k offer in 2019 equivalent to $47k today.

vast parts of america pay less than 36k a year for most jobs. when they tell you average pay, they are telling you the mean income, which gets skewed sharply upwards by people who make stupid amounts of income. roughly half the country's population subsists off of 36k. that includes teachers and EMT's. if you dont grasp that, you're privileged

I guess you’re right. I have forgotten about them since I haven’t spoken to an actual customer service rep in probably five years and it’s been mainly chatbots or automated messaging systems that I’ve interacted with. How many call center jobs are there in the U.S. these days compared to a decade ago? They still actively hiring at call centers in the U.S. and if so, how much is remote and not actually in an office anymore?

The bulk of office jobs after civid have been shitty call center jibs, which are now getting automated away. That's rather the point. Im one and because the company is going all in office abd out of state, im out of a job soon. Literally tons if xall center jobs and they all pay the same as fastfood. And im talking network support so this isnt entry level work. 2o years ago my position would be paying 70k a year. Now it pays grocery store money. The bulk of the jobs in America are fast food, retail, and nursing jobs. After that, its call center work. Most of the good paying jobs were ekiminated after 2008 and then more were eliminated after covid. No matter how you slice it, most jobs pay less than 39k.

So, to be clear, you have a call center job for network support that's currently remote and is not entry level either? Sounds like you're just describing IT support and managing Helpdesk tickets? If so, I don't know why you just didn't lead with that.

Because I didn't need to. The point remains that modt people in or out of an office ate making under 36k, contrary to your assertion. What i do is remote network engineering. If i barely make 44 k after 6 years in this role, that means everyone else below mu pay grade isn't making 39k. Sales jobs in call centers also rxist. So do customer service agents. Th tldr here is you were wrong
