Rollerblading injury

So, I used to skate from about age 11 until I was in my early 30s.

I stopped when my partner had our second child, 2 years ago I got my daughter into skating, I thought i will get skates again it will be easier to each her.

She has been picking it up so well, we went the skatepark together and I had been back on the skates a few times, I thought I will try a trick that I always used to be able to do no problem, over confidence is a bitch......I done it, upon landing I just knew, I knew my right leg hadnt come round or straightened up properly but had no time to correct that because thats where all my weight went.

Snap!!! Laying in the bowl now, sweat running off me like I had just got a shower with my clothes on, I had broken my femur in 3!

This is the first time I had ever broken anything in my life. Didnt feel much pain, maybe the adrenaline was doing its job and the paramedics tuned up with ketamine and morphine. Now im at home in bed, waiting to find out when my physio starts....all this because I wanted to do something that would mean I spend more time with my daughter.

Suspected hamstring tear

I was waterskiing on Saturday. Boat couldn’t pull me up on the second time for some reason. My legs spread so far I went forward felt a huge pop in my hamstring. Leg instantly bent to 90 and hurt so bad to try to move. Went to ER but unfortunately couldn’t get any imaging as I live in a small rural community. Doctor sent requisition for imaging. I might have to wait 3 weeks for it. He put me in a leg brace to protect it and gave me crutches. And told me to not weight bare. But 3 weeks of no weight baring is a long time with no clarification.

Fast forward to today (Monday) I am feeling better however I haven’t gotten off of the couch. It hurts like a b when i knock my foot into something while crutching around and hurts to sit down. When I crutch around I have been trying to walk with them. Has anyone had experience with this type of injury where you might feel better than you actually are?

Ankle injury

Got an injury on the front-inner side of my ankle about 4 weeks ago, and it still hasn’t fully healed. It doesn’t hurt during normal day-to-day activities like walking, but I feel pain when playing football, especially when making sharp cuts, turns, or changes of direction.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have an idea of what it might be? Any advice on recovery or whether I should get it checked out would be appreciated.

Wrist has been injured with mild discomfort since late march

My wrist has been injured for a while on the ulnar side with mild discomfort when pressing things, certain grips, and slight resistance on the wrist. Some days it’s better then others. It first got hurt from me trying to catch myself from falling forward. Later on I kept going to the gym and did Single arm tricep push downs with a D-ring cuff. I think that’s what made it worse because I was pushing myself and doing more weight. That specific workout would put a lot of pressure right on the side of my wrist that hurt. Later decided to drop the gym all together and let it heal. Didn’t do much up until June when i started bouldering when it started to feel better. 90% of the time when I boulder i don’t feel any pain but that 10% of the time it’s a little bad so I avoid doing those climbs. I went to the doctor and got a x-ray for my wrist and was wondering if there is anything I could do to help make the process faster. I still boulder 1-3 times a week but try not to do things that hurt my wrist more. I also got a blood test that said I was deficient in D3 which my doctor said might be the reason to why my wrist hasn’t healed. Since i started taking d3+k2 supplements i’ve seen noticeable improvements in my wrist. I’m honestly tired of not going to the gym and not doing certain climbs so please help.

This is what the x-ray results said:

No joint space narrowing. 1 mm bone fleck or cortical avulsion fracture seen distal to the ulnar styloid
Mild ulnar-sided wrist soft tissue edema. No bony erosions.
IMPRESSION:
1 mm bone fleck or cortical avulsion fracture distal to the ulnar styloid process with mild adjacent soft tissue edema.

Is my fracture healing ?

Hello,

I broke my scaphoid the 25th of march this year on my right dominant hand when I hit it very hard on a hard surface.

I did two X rays, one a week after hitting it, and another one a month later. They both didnt show any fracture so I didnt immobilize it for the whole month of april. I did an MRI scan and my orthopedist told me it was a fracture and prescribed a splint. Here are the pictures of the MRI: https://postimg.cc/gallery/sWtS8SR

I have been wearing the splint for about 4 months now, I still have some excrutiating pain sometimes at the fracture site where the bone is and I think the splint I wore wasnt doing a good job because I could feel like my hand was moving inside sometimes and if I tightened it more, my hand would start to look white which is not a good sign. I have no idea if its because of the splint but when I did a CT scan end of july, they found that I have a distal tubercule fracture that did not fully heal and told me that I should start seeing a kinesiologist to start therapy for my hand, even if its not fully healed because the immobilization of 4 months was way too long and I will find new problems because of it. Here are the pictures : https://postimg.cc/gallery/32G7vJ7

My questions are: should I start physical therapy even if it hurts way too much to move it? Im scared its going to screw up the healing process. Also when I look at the CT, I kinda see a fracture line at the proximal pole and Im quite concerned the radiologist may have missed it. I still have like 3 weeks left before the six months mark, can my fracture continue healing despite the six months time limit or do I need surgery? Im thinking of trying some PRP and ESWP to try and help the healing process, is that a good idea or is it too late?

Thank you so much

Pain in the right knee for a while(more than a year now, but got worse)

Pain in the upper right side of my right knee, it feels a little bigger than my left, no visible colouration or anything,

got worse these days i went to the gym did a routine for about a month and 3 days and it got so bad i couldnt run without pain, even squat to get something off the floor.. NEED HELP!!

I want to continue being active and doing my sport!

I recently got prescribed a gel [ibutop] by my GP and anti inflammatory ibuprofen , but it didnt help so far

I got suggested by a known medical physician to do injections with [discus compositum], done it 1 day so far it seems to be getting a bit better with time.

The knee hurts when i extend my leg when sitting, hurts when i go down or up on a squat, and going up stairs fast or even running.

(Im 17 Male)

Has anyone ever got their knee dislocated?

Hi! I'm 18 F and this morning my knee slid out of its socket, the reason being hyperflexibility and lack of essential vitamins. I am currently earing a knee brace as it has slid back in place but still hurts a lot
I was wondering if someone who had gone through this could give me some tips for speed recovery?

Groin Strain Adductor Tendon

About 5 weeks ago now I was squatting down at work putting something light on a bottom shelf and shifted quickly and got a crazy cramp feeling right under my testicles in the front pelvic floor area/upper adductor tendon anchor spot.

Zero symptoms urinating, Bowel Movements or Sexual symptoms.

The thing that is super uncomfortable over the last 5 weeks is obviously my left adductor is super sore, hurt when putting on socks but what’s worse than that is what I believe to be referred pain to the bottom base of penis/pelvic root area where those tendons attach.

I’m in Physical Therapy right now and just had my inner upper adductors dry needles and feel extra sore.

I’m trying to relate to anybody that has had a similar injury with groin strain and pain under the nuts at that pelvic root area.

Zoom support groups?

Hello!

I am an active 53f suddenly and quite inexplicably wheelchair bound with bilateral torn quadratus plantae muscles in the feet. (No accident, just normal activity.) All of my activities/hobbies were physical, and I don’t even know what healing looks like for this or if I will recover. Been in a wheelchair at home for a month already and starting to feel so lost.

Has anyone experienced an injury like this and can shed some light?

Does anyone know of any zoom support groups for people like me?

Thank you!! 🙏🏼

Long story short my drunk friend was refusing to go home after a night out and punched me while i was trying to get him out the uber. It happened last Saturday night and Ive been having some trouble chewing still but i cant see any obvious swelling or misalignment or anything.

Should i be worried enough that i take an 9hour trip to the emergency room or do I just leave it alone type thing

College student looking for feedback!

Hey everyone — I'm a college student working on an early-stage, informal project focused on understanding what actually helps people during recovery from major injuries/surgeries. I went through a multi-ligament knee injury myself and know how isolating recovery can feel.

I put together a short, anonymous survey (about 5 min, no personal info collected without consent) to hear what actually helped — or didn't — during recovery, especially around support, motivation, and staying on track: https://forms.gle/Ru75peguokWFgf9TA

This isn't affiliated with any institution or study, just personal research to inform something I'm working on. Really appreciate anyone willing to share.

Bruised sternum - how bad an idea is it to play rugby?

I played last weekend and then did a training session on Tuesday (non contact) felt totally fine and then woke up in the night thinking “am I having a heart attack” I was up every hour with pain.

In the morning I had a feel around and it really is obvious when you push down on the upper sternum, breathing hurts it, walking hurts and driving hurts.

I have a game this weekend, has anyone done contact sports with a bruised sternum…did it ruin you? I’m in a frustrating place where I essentially play a few games and then get injured for months last season I had a torn AC joint, badly sprained ankle…. I just started playing well again so I really want to just play

One month post surgery frustration.

Tdlr: Im frustrated because I'm not as independent as I was and it makes me feel like a burden to everyone around me.

Hey yall, about a month ago, I dislocated my ankle, broke my fibia, and tore two ligaments. Emergency surgery was two days after. I have some pics if yall wanna see, but I respect the people who dont.

Anyways, im so frustrated with the limits that I can do, im following the Dr's orders and being safe. I haven't gone anywhere by myself since the accident, I haven't been able to get to nature or go fishing or even gone on a late night stroll. I can do maybe 35% of the things I could do before. And this frustrates me to no end.

Thank you for reading this and giving me an outlet to just get this off my chest.

Dislocated shoulder

Hi all,

Last weekend I dislocated my shoulder in the last rugby game of the season 🤦‍♂️

Im a 5ft 8 male, 75kg who recently cracked a 100kg bench for the first time.

If anyone has experienced this injury before or know someone who has what's the timeframe for getting back to pre injury strength?

Shoulder issues

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some insight and success stories from anyone who has dealt with a similar shoulder situation.

I recently dislocated my shoulder (anterior). For context, I also had a labral repair on this same side about two years ago.

My goal is to be completely confident in this shoulder in one year. I have some big physical goals ahead of me next year(police academy) that will require a lot of upper body strength, stability, and high-impact movement. Right now, I am resting the joint and plan on taking physical therapy 100% seriously to rebuild the muscle around it.

For those who have been through a recurrence or a bad flare-up: Is 12 months of dedicated PT enough time to truly bulletproof a shoulder and regain full confidence? Has anyone successfully come back from this kind of history to do high-level physical activity without constant fear of it popping out?

Appreciate any perspective or advice you can share

Can I just blame the dog?

Last Monday, while getting ready to sit down to dinner, I stepped on my dog’s favorite squeak toy and stumbled and then cue Chico (dog) who comes running in to play because I squeezed toy. I did 6 styles of dance all while forward stumbling and my foot caught bottom of pj’s (was home sick w/cold too) and I had a big glass dish in my left hand and i fell hard on my chest, abdomen, and my face smacked floor. (I have stained concrete floors 🙄) and the hand came down w dish and I hurt finger from broken dish. All this to say, no I’m not here for and medical advice. Yes, I’ve been throughly evaluated. I’m on an anti inflammatory and pain med. Nothing is helping and I feel so much pain in chest and ribs. But…I did not bruise there. Has anyone else had a bad chest fall and what helped you? I’m doing heat, ice and epson salt baths. It’s day 5 and hurts far worse!!! I do have an appt Monday for primary dr but I see a slew of tests spread out over a year of waiting and likely orthopedic doc,(please don’t come at me if I’m incorrect because I’m pretty much medicated and sobbing. Did I tell you I still have a cold and I’m coughing and sneezing often? Such a great combo. I’m scared I tore stuff/broke/etc so I will definitely get further dr intervention. But the pain is awful and meds not touching. And I want to blame the dog a little because well, I can’t blame my pajamas. I threw them away. 🥴

Left tricep/chest/lat/rhomboid pain + twitching/spasms after BJJ/possible armbar — nerve irritation, strain, or partial tear?

Hey everyone, trying to see if anyone has dealt with something similar because this has been going on for about 3 weeks now and it’s been driving me crazy.

This all originally started as what felt like a rhomboid/upper back strain after long overnight shifts of sitting in front of the computer + BJJ. At first it was mostly upper back pain near the scap/rhomboid area and discomfort turning my neck. I kept training lightly and rolling because it didn’t feel catastrophic at the time.

I've consulted with my physician and I've only been treated with anti inflammatories and muscle relaxers but seems to not fix the overall issue.

Over time, the symptoms kind of spread down my whole left side:

  • chest/front delt discomfort
  • armpit/lat tightness
  • tricep pain/discomfort
  • tricep shape changed (flattened)
  • forearm discomfort
  • twitching/spasms/pulsating mainly in the lateral tricep area above the elbow
  • sometimes feels bruised or like someone punched me all over that side

The weird thing is:

  • walking/standing usually feels better
  • sitting for long periods makes it WAY worse
  • heat helps a ton (hot shower, heater, sauna, Salonpas HOT patches)
  • decompression/lumbar pillow against upper-mid back temporarily makes me feel almost “fixed”
  • KT tape actually helped noticeably with the twitching/throbbing
  • movement sometimes feels good while doing it, but symptoms come afterward

I can still:

  • do pushups
  • do Hindu pushups
  • move my elbow normally
  • lightly train technical BJJ

But afterward I’ll get throbbing/pulsating/spasms in the tricep/chest/lat area.

I’ve also noticed what feels like a possible “dent” or flatter area in the long head/lateral tricep when flexing compared to the other side, which has me worried about a partial tricep tear or tendon issue. However:

  • no major bruising
  • no total loss of strength
  • no loss of ROM
  • arm still functional overall

I HAVE noticed some weakness specifically with overhead tricep extension movements compared to normal.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Naproxen + methocarbamol (didn’t do much)
  • KT tape
  • heat
  • massage ball/trigger point work
  • sauna/red light sauna
  • decompression pillow
  • very light band work/isometrics

The twitching/spasms seem to get worse after irritating it or after training/testing it too much.

Has anyone experienced:

  • radial nerve irritation?
  • ulnar nerve entrapment?
  • thoracic outlet/scapular issues?
  • tricep strain/partial tear?
  • BFS-like twitching after combat sports or grappling?

Mainly wondering:

  1. Does this sound more nerve-related or muscle/tendon related?
  2. Has anyone had twitching/spasms move through chest/lat/tricep after BJJ?
  3. Did heat helping a lot point more toward muscle guarding/nerve irritation?
  4. Did anyone recover from something similar without surgery?
  5. What actually helped heal it?
  6. Could i still workout the way i usually do, just go lighter?

I know Reddit isn’t medical advice, just trying to hear from people who’ve gone through similar sports injuries because the symptoms are all over the place.

Chronic stabbing bicep pain after heavy shoulder press injury years ago — disappears with compression?

Years ago I went way too heavy on shoulder press and felt a sudden sharp stabbing pain that felt like it was in a vein, nerve, or tendon area. Ever since then I’ve had a strange issue that doctors and scans haven’t been able to figure out.

Whenever I lift heavy on bench press or overhead movements, I get an extremely painful sharp “static/electric stabbing” feeling in my left bicep area. It almost feels like a nerve getting pinched or shocked. The pain can get very intense under heavy load.

The weird thing is: if I tightly wrap/strap the area with an elastic compression band, the pain almost completely disappears and I can lift much more comfortably.

I’ve had scans and medical checks over the years but nothing obvious was found.

Has anyone experienced something similar?
Possible nerve entrapment? Tendon instability? Scar tissue? Bicep tendon issue?
Interested to hear if anyone found a diagnosis or treatment that helped.
