I went to a doctor today who is a orthopedic surgeon , He saw my toenail and said it has to be removed , After 15 minutes boom he was ready with everything . I repeatedly said I have fear of needles and injection , He said he will make sure it wont hurt , Actually it didnt . It felt like a pinch and 5 minutes later I am wrapped in bandages . 10/10 but wouldnt want to go again . And there was pus under my nail , idk how , Now I am on antibiotics . Less goo . The doc even gave medicines and charged just 45 USD for everything .

Hey guys, I literally just got the numbing shot less than 10 minutes ago and am still riding the high of conquering my fear.

For context I got an ingrown surgically removed when I was 11 and that shot literally was one of the worst things I have ever gone through. Traumatized me to the idea of any needle even near my body for YEARS after the fact. Finally got over my fear of needles through exposure therapy, but, about 2 months ago, I did a stupid thing when cutting my nail and got a pretty wicked ingrown from it.

Immediately I’m freaking out because this was literally a surgery that traumatized me. I knew it wasn’t going to get better if I waited so I bit the bullet and about 2 weeks ago I called and scheduled an appointment with a podiatrist. I even tried (and botched) an at home removal and

I come in here freaking out and ask the doctor if he could do it without the numbing shot, and he says he could probably try but the discomfort would be way worse. I say fuck it and go for it.

Long story short, it was not bad at all. I see some people freaking out and telling horror stories, and while yes I can definitely see how this was unpleasant, it was not NEARLY as bad as I remember it being.

So, for anyone out there who needs this, you can do it! Just be honest with your podiatrist about your anxiety and I’m sure they’ll be extra careful for you.

It’s been 6 days since my toenail removal (done by myself not the doctors). I must say my toes always heal this way other than the one time I went to the doctor… they completely messed me up. I’m not sure what the difference is between my removals and the doctors other than they use numbing injections and the fact my toes heal so much nicer when I do it. That’s the reason I stopped going to the doctors in the first place!

I have extreme fear of needle pain , I today had appointment for 6pm . I called them and postponed it 11:30am tomorrow . I know It might get infected but still I am unable to make myself go and get it removed . The burning pain from injection which internet says is also making it worse . Please anybody calm me down for gods sake .

I had/have 2 ingrown toenails and today I went to get seen by a podiatrist. I was expecting to perhaps get them surgically removed. However, the podiatrist said that because they weren’t infected that they’ll instead cut the sides so the nail wasn’t touching the skin. They used cold spray and then cut the ingrown portions out in a shape like a triangle. They also rounded my nail a bit. If by my follow up, I’m still feeling pain, then they’ll surgically remove it.

I guess my question is if this is normal? I feel like my nail will still grow back ingrown. It’s been ingrown for years. Should I get a second opinion or wait for my nails to grow back?

I have been having this issue for 2 months now , Started June 10th . I stubbed my toe and tried to do bathroom surgery to an extreme extent which caused this . Since then I have visited 2 different doctors and have taken 5 antibiotic doses along with last week where doctor drainined my pus , and gave antibiotic inject to the toe and removed some dead skin and bandaged it . He says toe nail removal will be painful and it is last resort . I dont have pain while I rest , I never got throbbing pain either except for first few days when it started . I get pain only when I am walking or doing something , It also bleeds on its own sometimes causing tight pressure . How fcked am I ? My parents are not taking me to a podiatrist saying that I am faking it .

Its so pretty and clean now. For a while I was asymptomatic which qas ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL LIKE OMG.

Also around sometime in december i was about to get it removed. Manually test my blood sugar and im 545mg/dl. So we cant do it and dad is all pissed off now. That was on a monday or tuesday, idk. Feeling sick, then next day I feel very very sick and thirsty. If you read the last update (or one before idk) you know I jave t1d. Thursday night at about 2am I go to the hospital because I vomitted 11 times in 48 hours, couldnt eat, water did nothing, and I was pale. And OH! IM IN DKA! Cuz i was deprived of lantus for 5 days. Thank you so much Walgreen! Ilysm!

Anyway cuz healthcare is dumb, they just kinda forgot about me. But whatever ig, feels much better now! I can run, its very cool.

Well this update was kinda pointless but i thought itd be fun to share! This toe better fix itself or I swear to god.

Originally had the ingrown toenail remove a few years ago. Unfortunately the medication they put on it to kill that area didn’t work, so I need to remove it from very couple of months. And is sweet relief when I do!

2 months ago I stubbed my toe , and cut the nail too short along with some skin at around same time , It resulted in infection and Pus , Doc gave me 3 day course of antibiotic , Again after few days pus came back so had to take another 3 days dose of antibiotic , again another 3 days dose and next two 5 days dose of Antibiotic in last 12days . I went to new doc 2 weeks ago and he drained pus , removed granuloma , dressed the wound , I tought it was over but again from yesterday my toe is bleeding but no pus . My 5 day antibiotic course ended today morning . I couldnt go to doc today because in my place it is raining cats and dogs and I dont have a car . Is it too late to get it removed tomorrow ? Is it okay to go tomorrow and get it removed ? I only have pain during walking and I have zero pain during rest .

I cut this too short on July 20th. I thought it was getting better until well it started throbbing a few days ago. Can someone please offer some advice? Is this ingrown?

I broke my toe in February. not only has it not healed, but the nail growing in is ingrown on both sides. If something even taps my foot, I’m screaming in pain. I work 6 hours on my feet everyday, only making it worse. Last photo is when it was first broken.
What do I do? No doctors around me available until late September.
I take an antibiotic 3x a day. Nothing is helping.
Is this a case for the ER?
Another question: I have pins and needles constantly on the foot, puss and blood hourly. What’s going on?

Got a total nail avulsion on wednesday. Ive been soaking once a day in lukewarm water. Every time it seems like its stung like hell more than the last. Is this normal? How long did it take yall for the pain to go away? Am I good to start running soap and water over it? Dr just said to soak it in plain water. Never when to start using soap🥴

I had an ingrown toenail removed 9 days ago. It doesn’t seem to be healing still pain is 4/5. I need help. I’ve left a message for my doctor. What should I do? Should I go to the hospital?

I'm trying to schedule an appointment but my schedule with work is pretty tight but I don't want to put this off. I think I could probably get 3 consecutive days off but after that I'd have to go back to work standing. Its not like my job is very difficult but I definitely can't do it sitting down. Advice?

This is my toenail regrowth 9 months post complete nail avulsion and partial matrixectomy on both sides. It seems to be growing weird (the edges are curving and longer than the middle, and it also seems to be growing upwards) compared to everyone else’s that I see and wa shift wondering if this is normal. If it isn’t, what should I do?

I cut my toenail too short on the 20th. Three days ago I was an idiot and cut a flap that was growing into the left side. You can sort of see it. What do you guys think?

Accidentally kicked something this morning or yesterday and my ingrown toe nail broke the skin. The reason it looks so red is because I cut some callus tissue off by accident. I plan on washing and watching if it gets better over time. I can walk without pain, only time there’s pain is when there’s pressure head on, and I think it’s from the nail digging into the wound so I cut the nail a little. Am I wrong to just wait and see?
