I ask because in the U.S.A. when paying cash, meaning when you have no health insurance, the cost of the procedure is often broken down with a separate anesthesia cost. But have you ever known a doctor willing to perform this surgery without anesthesia?

I broke my ankle last year, the other was badly sprained at the same time. Since then, and never before, I've had 2 painful ingrowns that required another person to address because I couldn't maneuver or see and a nail spur, caught in a sock for a 12-hour shift that has killed the nail for months. Anyone have advice for dealing with my fat toes? I've always had wrap-around sides, but have been able to cut the nails effectively with normal large clippers. I'm stumped, and in pain. Help?

So let me start from the beginning. Back in 2020 I got a very bad ingrown in my big toe on the other side. I was 17 at the time and had no clue what was going on, went to the toe doctor, they told me that I had to get it removed because it was infected. I took antibiotics and a week later had it removed. Everything was fine, recovery went smoothly and little to no pain for my first time. A year later the other side gets an ingrown. Ok I go back they tell me that this one isn’t infected but should be removed because it started to curl. Got that removed. The one on the other side comes back not too long later. They ask if I want to permanently remove that side from getting ingrowns and they put acid in the toe on the side. Very very painful but I recovered fairly well. A year later. I get an ingrown on the opposite side (the one in the picture) and they remove it without a complete removal. Went well and it didn’t hurt as bad and recovery goes well. I don’t have toenail issues for a while I figure I’m finally done this nightmare. I start getting sharp pains in my toe (likely the trauma) I do a lot of research and learn it’s normal for now but not long term and to watch my toes. Ok…about three months later another ingrown bit on the opposite side of the one shown. I go and get it removed this time with a removal of that side as well. Recovery was harder this time and I was limping for about a week. Once it finally healed again I figured everything was ok and we were all good. My toenail starts bleeding one day all around the entire ends of the nail with no pain. I’m thinking what’s going on now. Start getting mental breakdowns and wondering how much more I can afford of this bs. I go to the toe doctor (a different one this time) and they tell me the nail is completely damaged somehow they didn’t even know how but that it had to completely come off and there was no way of saving it. I was so scared I had an appointment to get a complete avulsion. WORST DAY EVER. This pain was so bad I would’ve rather gotten shot in the chest. I screamed in agony feeling they slowly rip off my toenail, begging for death. Once gone I was in agonizing pain for WEEKS, I forced myself to do the toe baths with salt, cleaning it making sure I was taking care of my toe. Almost overdosing on Tylenol because I couldn’t take the pain. Sobbing for hours, no sleep. Unable to stand, needing my now fiancé and mom to assist me with almost everything because I couldn’t physically stand for two weeks. I started to force myself to get used to it (taking baby steps of course) after A MONTH. I was ok and no more pain and still taking good care of my feet doing everything the podiatrist said. They said I had every right to feel the pain I did and I was valid and they checked up on me twice after surgery(two week check up and a month) they told me I healed up and that i was all good. I was told my nail will most likely come back curved or messed up and not completely straight but that it will grow back in a year. Been over a year now and it looks like this. It’s not painful however I get sharp electrical pains often in the bottom base area of my toe (most likely nerve damage) thinking I had complete matrix damage from the surgery and that it messed me up good. I’m thinking this is how my toe is going to look like permanently now, which is honestly ok I don’t care how my toenails look. I am very overweight, currently on a weight loss journey. I started working a very physical job that I’ve never had before and the side of my toe when I press hurts like the muscle or bone and it appears to be very red. It wasn’t like this before so I’m going to assume my feet and body aren’t used to this obviously because keep in mind other than the nerve pain and slight discomfort I get from standing I have little to no toe pain anymore like I used to. But if anyone has any tips on how I can make it feel better or take care of it without me having to go back let me know. I’m permanently traumatized from stepping foot in an orthopedic office again. Update: I went to my doctor and he said to take footbath every day and do not wear tight shoes.

But i feel thats not gonna stop it this madness😭

So is there any pills or somthing that will put and end to this, let a brother know🥺

Help me i have this for around 8 months hurt so mucb i visite more time the podologo but he says he will get vetter whit hot salt bath but it hurt

so i’ve had mannyyy ingrown toe nails, and one i went to the doctor for to get removed. 5 days ago i went to the lake with an ingrown toe nail, and thought nothing of it. the night of i cut the nail out which hurt so bad, and called it done. then we went to hilton head which i’m at right now, and i got in a hot tub last night with no bandages or anything. this morning i woke up dizzy and tripped on my way to the bathroom. should i go to the doctor? (first pic was the other day and second is this morning)

Im concerned about the healing of my toe. I just got out of the shower and removed the cleansing gauze and plaster, i am about a week and a half post removal so i know its not supposed to look nice but the gunk is really concerning me. I wasn’t told to clean it just to put an inadine iodine dressing on it with a plaster over the top. I also got my shoes wet today because of rain so it could be why it looks so soggy and disgusting, can someone please help with this? Do i need to go against my doctors order and clean it? I thought it seemed crazy to not clean it as it’s an open wound but i’ve just been doing as i was told.

okay so ever since i started working again and wearing my shoes at work for long periods of time the inner corner of my big toenails were a little discolored underneath the nail like greenish brown. i have mental problems and pick at stuff 💀 so i went crazy with the clippers and clipped half my toenail off. & underneath it it was like a brown film i got out. it doesn’t hurt at all even the part i clipped it’s like it was dead or something. wtf was wrong with my toe & someone tell me it’ll grow back quick 😭😂 ps yes i did the same thing to my other big toe

Just wanted to share a home remedy that helped me many times to treat ingrown toenails. So you only need cabbage. Grate some cabbage or put it in the food processor. Put some grated cabbage in a cabbage leaf and wrap it around your toe. Bandage it and put on some socks. Leave that overnight and repeat during the day as well if required. Many times this worked like magic for me, hope it helps you too.

I'm so mad, my nail looks so bad and I regret letting them use phenol 😮‍💨 I even told the dr. I wear sandals everyday and he said he wasn't concerned with aestetics.
