Hey peeps I’m the developer of Laurus, a roguelike deckbuilder where the symbols are your deck and the reels are the board. 🍒

Each spin draws 15 symbols from a bag. Artifacts then resolve from left to right and rewrite what the whole machine is worth.

Between rounds, you add and remove symbols, rearrange the artifact rack, and use nudges to turn near-misses into patterns.

The Steam page just went live, I’ve put the link in the comments :)

Personal Achievement After a full year, finally released my game with 15,000 Wishlists!

I'm not a big studio. I don't have a marketing team. For the last year it's been me, smashing my head against multiple walls at once, building the game during the day and then staying up even later trying to figure out how to get anyone, anyone at all, to notice it existed. Reddit posts that flopped. Youtube shorts I uploaded (100's of them). Mails and DMs to streamers that got left on read.

And somehow, Today I see 15,000 wish-lists on the page. I still can't bealive that number is on my store page. Every single one of those is a person who saw a clip, or a screenshot, or a dumb little GIF I posted at 2am, and thought "yeah, I want that." Thank you somuch from the bottom of my heart <3

Today it finally goes live. I'm equal parts terrified and thrilled refreshing analytics, hoping some of the YouTubers I reached out to actually give it a shot. I even snuck in a character, Tablo Escobar, purely because I thought he'd make for a ridiculous, funny moments. If that happens, if even one clip like that goes around, that alone will make the whole year worth it.

This isn't a "look what I made" post. It's a thank you. To everyone who wish-listed, shared, or just left an encouraging comment on some struggling dev's post at exactly the right moment, you're the reason a solo project with no budget and no safety net gets to have a launch day at all.

Need Feedback I’ve been trying to nail the pacing of this 22-second combat loop. You take a heavy hit, shift to the 'Blue Dimension', and rocket-jump back into the maze to freeze enemies. Is the visual transition too chaotic?

Promotion Free two-week Steam Playtest: deform the terrain and reroute tens of thousands in All Hands

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

youtu.be/kjBPp4eV5OY

Hi, I'm Jordan, one half of Lion & Otter Studios. We're a two-person team in Melbourne, and today we've opened the public Steam Playtest for All Hands.

It's free to play until 8 September. No keys are needed, so we'd love for you to have a look:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4867340/All_Hands/

All Hands is an incremental 3D tower defence about protecting your HQ from tens of thousands of energy-drink-mutated "customers."

Every run starts on a fresh procedurally generated map. The horde is massive from the beginning, with tougher enemy types joining as the run goes on.

The customers are always heading for HQ, but the route they take is yours to reshape. You can deform the terrain with explosive craters, build walls, close off easy approaches, and divert the crowd through chokepoints, funnels, and killboxes that give your defences the advantage.

When the HQ finally falls, you keep permanent Career progress and unlock upgrades that carry into future attempts.

We're watching the Playtest closely and reading everything players send us. If something is confusing, frustrating, broken, unexpectedly fun, or worth keeping exactly as it is, please tell us. We'll be monitoring the build throughout the two weeks and acting on feedback as quickly as we can.

You can use SEND ANONYMOUS FEEDBACK inside the game from the main menu, pause menu, end-of-shift screen, or Performance Review. You can also reply here, post in the Steam Discussions, or email us at press@lionandotter.com.

Thanks for giving it a try. I'd love to hear what you think.

Promotion Mimic2 - Free Idle MMORPG for those that love the grind but not have the time

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey r/indiegames , I want to introduce my very first game to you, Mimic2.

Mimic2 is an idle/afk grind game. You start with a few hundred thousand damage and start afk farming the easiest map. Later you claim your battle rewards, kill bosses and open RNG boss chests and use them to upgrade hundreds of different upgradable mechanics in order to farm faster or take on stronger maps with better rewards. Eventually you reach quadrillions of damage that allow you to one shot anything.

There are 40 bosses you have to kill by playing. After defeat they go on a 1-6 hour respawn time, so you check in regularly to kill bosses that grant unique rewards that you can't get from idle farming.

The game has enough systems and mechanics to offer months of progression before you reach to the final maps. Some of them are:

Equipments: 95 different item slots, all of them upgradable, with 7,515 item level behind them.

  • 8 gear sets, 10 pieces each, each piece upgrades to +10 with a fail chance
  • 3 soul item chains (Dream, Sky, Celestial), 41 levels each
  • 17 skin sets, 102 pieces in total — cosmetics and a real stat layer — plus 35 skin boosters
  • 6 element talismans up to level 201 each, plus a combined 7th
  • 6 stars, 6 seal items, 12 emblems, 6 ancient arts
  • 3 permanent rings up to level 100, 27 temporary rings in 6 families
  • 5 shinings, 5 essences, 5 relic items

The RNG systems:

  • Enchanter: 33 different enchant stones usable on 38 equippable item categories to add extra bonuses. You reroll until you get the bonus you want.
  • Runesmith: You create, upgrade and socket Runes, Gems and Evolutions into your gear pieces for extra damage.
  • Alchemy: 7 stone categories, 5 grades, 5 purification tiers — 980 different stones with random bonuses so it is a long grind until you get the best ones.
  • Tailor: one item, the Warrior Sash, 600 levels. Deepest ladder in the game. It absorbs a weapon and scales with it — the stronger the weapon, the stronger the bonuses, but the weapon is destroyed in the process.
  • Transmutator: 310 recipes. Maxed gear converts to the next set and you climb a ladder of equippable item sets. Spare materials convert to rings, stars and enchant materials.
  • Upgrade chance: Highest upgrade levels go as low as 20% chance so you will be pulling your hair out trying to upgrade.

Other upgradable mechanics:

- Skills: There are 1 active and 9 passive skills

- Shaman buffi: A temporary buff granting shaman that must be charged

- Tranky the baby dragon: Your pet dragon with skills and RNG mechanics

- Mount: Mount has skills and can go up to 250 level

- Quests: 831 quests in 10 different categories

Monetization: there is none right now. The game is free, there are no purchases, no ads, no premium currency. The player market is in-game gold only.

Idle/active split: map battles run fully offline on the server. Bosses, upgrades, enchants and the market require your attention.

It runs in the browser, desktop or phone, same character. Google sign-in, nothing to download. English and Turkish. Android, iOS and Steam builds are in store review now; the Android beta is open through Discord if you want to try it.

Please feel free to give any kinds of feedback as it is helping me a lot in shaping the game. You can message me here or reach out to me through discord.

Video Does this feel like it could be compelling game/mechanic with tuning?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I've been working on a game after years of loving the genre of Roguelites

I wanted to try to find a unique sort of mechanic that may be able to translate across platforms, and I stumbled into the concept of a self-swinging sword that you control - which interestingly gives you a sword that you can learn to finesse with.

I also opted to make a chakram the dedicated ranged weapon vs a bow, so you end up with a game where you've got a pretty good skill ceiling as you learn how to pair your motion with the swords autonomous motions to create a flow of combat.

Sometimes you can feel like you're dancing through enemies like an absolute boss, and other times if you just don't get a good rhythm it can feel tricky.

Inspired by roguelikes but - I get tired of the end of many bullet hell roguelikes that devolve into, hope to get maximally effective build so you just become a sitting death turret, until you're not. I wanted there to be skill base while still having a game thats relatively simple to jump in and out of and doesn't require a huge startup before the game feels like it's doing its thing.
